- In this episode our long awaited wrought iron fence and hand rails for the terrace and front stairs get delivered. The iron work design replicates the style already found on the property on the lower level where our smaller yard is. I'm so happy with the result and the new railings add a bit more of that country rustic charm to the property.
I also take you on a walk through the Daglan cemetery to show you something which took my breath away! I also study up on our property and incredibly I find some photos that were taken in the late 1800s of the village and our Maison.
Finally, we take a break from the renovations and head to Toulouse for a little holiday. Country life is beautiful but I am a city girl at heart so being close to the big smoke makes me very happy indeed!
It is always heartbreaking when a pet doesn't want to join us for a walk. It is then that we plan for those last precious moments, with tears.
That’s so true. 😔
It's beautiful that you were able to find historic documents of your homes beginnings.
It really is 😊
Ooooh I love everything about this Episode! The respect to the deceased, the shopping trip, Shaun’s head 😀, railings, and your shopping haul!! Can’t wait to get over there. Booking flights this week!
And I can’t wait for you to get over here! OMG we have so much to catch up on and celebrate. 🎉🥰😘
Darlene, so very charming ... like a fairytale. Makes me smile and breathe deeply. Good job! Colorado Cherri
Thank you Cherri from Colorado! There is nothing more fulfilling than a dream being realised. Thanks for your lovely msg.
Oh,,,, what a fabulous welder! I love that you honored the original design, and he added additional flair. Loved the story of the Chrysanthemum's, how endearing. Ironically, I just purchased two real ones in white at the store, to add to my Christmas decor. I loved the sentiment of them! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much! I’m so glad you enjoy what we’re doing here. Love that you’ve added white chrysanthemums to your Xmas decorations. Bon Fête! 🥳
They did a fabulous job with the railings. I like that little touch of the rail ends splaying out for ease of entrance and egress on the stairs. What a gorgeous looking village and those flowers in the cemetery are such a powerful united way to commemorate the departed. Always enjoy your videos Darlene, thank you so much for the care you put into them.
Thank you very much Denise! And I loved thé way you described the cemetery and flowers, just beautiful. Thank you for your lovely feedback and encouragement. 😍

Wonderful, thanks for your insights!
Your Maison looks more beautiful with each vlog.👌🤗😍
Thank you so much Judy 😊
The iron work turned out beautifully. What a difference it made!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi, You have made a good choice to go shopping in Toulouse, the best place in the world for the food (I'm from Toulouse that's why) really nice iron railings . But next time you go shopping in Toulouse, go all around Place du Capitole, rue Saint Rome you can find many little shops for clothes with good Toulouse brands. The little cat has found the good home😉😉😉J'adore votre maison et son environnement💯💯
Thanks for the shopping tips! I love everything about Toulouse. It’s a beautiful city.
I was hoping u could do a video a week...I was so hoping u would show the reno of the kitchen and more of ur home after getting settled I just look for u weekly plz ❤😊
Can I negotiate..? How about every 2 weeks or every 12 days? 😂 it’s so hard to juggle everything but I’ll try to do more, promise! x
Another fantastic video Darls! The railings are divine...loved the before and after pics. Your shopping trip looked very successful, lots of lovely clothing staples to get you through a cold winter! Cheeky Macy Grey and a lovely tribute to your wonderful neighbour who embraced you with open arms 🥰👏❤️
Thank you sis 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed it! I can’t wait to take you shopping in Paris when you get here. Miss you 😘
@@DarleneLavett we'll have so much fun! 👯♀️ I miss you too 😘😘😘
nice
Hi Darlene...i visited Toulouse 2 weeks ago and stayed for 3 days..fantastic city.have a nice weekend.😊
Thank you! You too!
I’m from Boston, Massachusetts with Irish ancestors and we would also bring chrysanthemums to the cemetery in November on All Souls Day. Thanks for sharing your beautiful walk !
Papy is Grandpa
It is my pleasure! It’s a wonderful tradition.
Stunning railing…really adds character to your place. Love your little kitty and you did some wonderful shopping
Love, love, love each and every vlog. Keep'em coming. A big Good'ay from Sydney, Australia.
Thank you Maggie! And good’ay right back at cha. 😃
Love the railings and love your kitty Macy.
Thank you 😊
The railings are beautiful! We follow the chrysanthemum tradition as well, every year on All Souls Day. They always look so beautiful. Your shopping trip to Toulouse must have been fun. ❤
Thank you and yes we had a lot of fun! Just quietly, I bought some chrysanthemums for my own garden just prior to the 1st Nov not knowing they were specifically for that occassion! 🤭
Love everything you do to your new home. Good taste!!!!! Nice clothing haul!!!! The cats are adorable as so are the poochies!!!
Thank you so much!!
The iron work is really lovely and makes the terrace sing. The translation for thé Troisième Âge club is literally 3rd age. As I speed towards the fourth I don’t consider 60 elderly! My 87 year old brother has just sold his motorbike and our mother lived to be six weeks short of 101. Looks like you had a good time in Toulouse. Carrol and 123 well worth a look next time❤❤
Thanks for explaining that to me. What an unusual title! I also just checked out (googled) both of those stores, thank you for the recommendation!
Ohhhh grinding oh&s no safety glasses boys!!!!
I know right!? OH&S is a lot ‘loser’ here we’ve found.
Bonne idée ,c'est très beau félicitation
Thank you
Loving the haul! Wish they gave me as much freebies in the UK 😄
That’s the same as Aus sadly. The French LOVE their beauty products here and giving away lots of samples. Love it 😊
Put more railings in
Nice video as usual. I ❤
Thank you ☺️
My contre is so beautifull
Your country? Yes, j’adore France! 🇫🇷
The terrace looks beautiful, I can just imagine it with festival lights strung across and cocktails in the summer waving to all who pass...gorgeous!
That's a great idea! I can’t wait to get the pergola finished, lights up and wisteria growing on it. Next spring hopefully 🤞
Beautiful iron work.
Thank you, I think so too!
The railings look great. The go with the front door as well.
Have you considered a catio for Macy to keep her safe?
Thank you and yes that’s a great idea!
Que de jolies rampes, votre belle maison deviendra un manoir. Bonne continuation, à bientôt .
Merci beaucoup! ☺️
Love your videos! Always enjoy the Aussie lifestyle wherever they are!
I usually bring our dog when visiting in France and I don’t believe they allow/like dogs in their cemeteries…might want to check.
Happy holidays!
Thanks for the advice, I’ve spoken to the Mairie grounds man and he has said to make sure they are walked on leashes. So I’m very careful with my dogs in the cemetery, but I did have Chewie outside the gates when I ducked back in to do some more filming and he followed me. 🤭
@@DarleneLavett : In most cemeteries it is forbidden to enter with a dog. There is usually a sign at the gate. You don't want dog pee on your loved ones tomb...
Belle sœur means sister-in-law and le club du 3ème âge means the club of the older people (so not very young😅)
No, not very young 😂 I’ve learnt the French live well into their old age!
Belle fille = daughter in law
Belle sœur = sister in law
Papy = granpa
Hi Darlene, lovely seeing you guys
Hello 👋 Thanks so much 😊
Belle sœur, is Sister in law
Hi there! Yes I’m very concerned about our cat. She gets spooked by cars though so hopefully she will stay away from the road plus she’s indoors every night. For translation press the CC button (top right on the video to turn on) and then press the settings button, choose the captions option and then select auto translate and then select your language closed captions. I hope this helps. 😊
@@DarleneLavett Merci c'est Ok pour les sous titres maintenant. Je revisionne 😉
Lovely blog. I’m from Australia and always wanted to buy a house in France. Too late for me but love watching you guys. The railings are fabulous ❤
On ya walk any tiger or brown snakes????
There are none! Vipers can be found here but I believe they are not as poisonous. The bushland is very quiet here as I’ve not seen a lot of wildlife, reptiles or snakes. Shaun has has a grass snake in the workshop.
I love your poodle, but please please please tell me you don’t really let him run off leash in the cemetery to pee on the graves!!😢
Oh no of course not they are always leashed in the cemetery. I ducked back in to take some footage after our walk through the forest and he followed me in off-leash just briefly!
