EP17: Our DREAM French kitchen is now complete!

- We've done it..! We had a number of delays along the way but our new French kitchen is finally finished!
Of course we started highly motivated and very ambitious that our renovation plan and schedule would run smoothly and that we would seamlessly remove the old and replace with the new, with minimal fuss! And for the majority of the time, it was! However our biggest set back was
not being able to get the radiators removed quickly enough which meant delays with tiling the kitchen floor before the rest of the
kitchen could be installed. Anyway... you know how delays work!
The wonderful thing is that it's now complete and at no time was it every too frustrating. Afterall, one thing we have learned here in France
is to just 'go with the flow' and trust it will all work out in the end.

Absolutely! I met him when he was working executive level management but those old tradie skills are still there.

It is gorgeous! The cabinets are such a lovely warm, gray, not the cold gray that was so popular in the past few years. It looks classic and clean. And the blue and white tiles are the exclamation point on the whole design. All you need now is a red geranium in the window, très française!
I totally agree! I would have to design and get built some iron plant railings but how gorgeous that would look. And thank you, I agree the grey is more brown warm grey is my favourite neutral colour right now.

The workmanship in the cabinetry looks fantastic. I'm glad you had a great experience with the kitchen manufacturer. It can be tricky in a new country to find the right people sometimes. The recommendation helps.

Hello and welcome! Thanks for following along. ☺️ Normally I go for a very neutral palette but I made a deal with myself to be bold and use patterns, colour and textures for our Maison renovation. I don’t think you can go to wrong with French styling mixing a bit of this with that. Are you in the Dordogne? I’m more than happy to help for inspo contacts etc.😀

My favorite color. 🇫🇷 Remember your time line for the work you and Shaun are doing is miles ahead of schedule wise. Even compared to your counterparts in France who are doing their own renovations as well because your space is smaller. Smart of Shaun to tile over. To take up the flooring and starting new is a nightmare. Job well done! Can't wait for your next vlog.
Hello and thank you! Do you know we did lowered our expectations a little (time wise) but I’m so pleased and pleasantly surprised at how well it all went! I did a kitchen in our Aus house to get it ready for sale in 2022 and it was a nightmare. I’m so happy I took the risk with the tiles. Many of our French friends don’t seem to like French styling?? They walk in and go, oh! 😂

The French are a fickle bunch. With them it's 💯 17th century or nothing at all. I love to say, funny I don't see any French restoring your properties that have been vacant for decades. I incorporated the roosters in metal tiles here in the US as an accent piece. Don't ever say this is what we can afford. When remodeling, you have to cut corners somewhere. I absolutely 💕 love your transformation.
So true! I’m sure your metal tiles are gorgeous! We’’re looking at adding some dark pressed metal on the ceiling in the tv room. And true, when retired you’ve got to budget well so no excuses! 😀

Stunning kitchen you two lovebirds. The tiles are gorgeous and really make it unique. Such fun putting all the stuff in the cupboards. Our mobalpa still looks great after 22 years despite the nightmare installation. Happy cooking👏👏❤
Thanks Susie! I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with mobalpa but happy to know it’s still in good condition. I’ve got to say it went pretty smoothly unlike the one we did in Aus last year before selling up there. Problems with supply etc. It was a horrible 7 month process.

Wow is right! Its perfect except for that sink. What happened? All that matters is that you like it. Its exceptionally beautiful but then theres that sink lol.
What is wrong with the sink? It is not one I would go for, but it looks fantastic in that kitchen.
I know what you mean but that was the only sink they had that I liked. It seems to be a very common one. Plus I love that it is durable and easy to clean.
