Penhaligon's Cairo Fragrance Review | Cairo by Penhaligon's Review
Here's my Penhaligon's Cairo fragrance review finally. This is a fragrance I wanted to review ever since I first smelled it at Harrods in December/January while I was visiting London. Finally it's released and I deliver you my review. I quite enjoyed this fragrance on first smell as it has some of my favorite notes such as Rose which is very prominent here along with Vanilla which is also very prominent. But the rose is very masculine here as it's been really blended beautifully with lots of woods and spices. Cairo is a sweet but not so sweet concoction from Penhaligon's so I hope you get to try it. If you have sampled Cairo please do add a comment below so I find out.
Penhaligon's Cairo From Trade Routes Collection
    100ml/$250
    Perfumer: Christophe Raynaud
    2018 / 2019
    Eau De Parfum
From the Trade Routes Collection which includes: As Sawira, Empressa, Levantium, Lothair
    Notes for Penhaligon's Cairo:
    Top Notes: Rose
    Heart Notes: Saffron, Incense
    Base Notes: Patchouli, Vanilla
Papyrus or Cypriol are prominent in Cairo even though not mentioned.
Light touches of Oud, Sandalwood, Cedar with prominent Spices appear in Penhaligon's Cairo. It's a very woody, spicy composition.
Penhaligon's Cairo Accords: Woody, Warm Spicy, Vanilla, Rose, Sweet, Balsamic, Resinous, Leathery, Ambery, Spicy, Honey

Thanks for another great review, Sebastian! I love rose fragrances, and a warm, balsamic, vanillic rose scent sounds amazing! I've been a fan of Penhaligon's for a long time now and I'd love to win Cairo. Thanks for this opportunity. - CA, USA

Great review. I enjoyed that you describe why you think there is a slight touch of oud within the woods used to macerate the rose. I would love to win the bottle because my favorite cologne is a rose/oud, but I love patchoulie and vanilla as well. To get them all in one fragrance sounds awesome. USA

I’m so excited to smell this scent. Mainly because I’ve been wanting a bottle from Penhaligon’s for a while now. I discovered them while researching barbershop fragrances. Cairo sounds like a different direction for this house which makes me want it even more. I’ll have to sample it soon. I just sampled Guerlain Bois Mysterioux because of your review and I love it! I saw them release this about a week or so ago, and immediately got excited! As my first foray into Attars was Egyptian musk oils and Ouds: I was waiting for the eclectic brand that Penhaligon's is to release this beauty! Like you, I'm a patchouli freak, have some lovely Sumatran stuff that is to die for, I'd love to get my hands on this! My favorite by the house was their flagship fragrance Hammam Bouquet (rose and iris heavy fragrance), and would be interested to see how this one smells! Cheers from down south in Alabama, USA!

Cairo sounds truly interesting. I love rose notes, as am often surprised by how versatile they can be. I adore it when a perfume can evoke a particular feeling of a city. With the river Nile reaching through the bones of Cairo I can easily see how it fits in with the Trade Routes collection. Penhaligon's also have the portrait collection with incredibly designed bottles that massively remind me of the canopic jars used in Ancient Egypt. Thanks for the video. I am from the UK

Great review of Penhaligon's Cairo. I really enjoy Rose fragrances...especially with Saffron, Spices, and Woods along with some balsamic incense and vanilla to top it off. Sounds like a perfect fall and winter fragrance with a middle eastern touch which I am really lacking in my collection. I am from the USA.

I always love hearing the way you describe fragrances. I have only encountered Penhaligon's once, and it was a very brief interaction at a sales counter inside of a Sak's 5th Ave. The sales rep didn't really do a great job, as well as the fact that I don't remember anything worthwhile. Personally, I am not a big fan of spicy scents, but Cairo sounds quite intriguing, and much love.

Great description of the fragrance, as always, Sebastian. Cairo sounds like a wonderful, warming and gently sweet fragrance for later in the year. Rose is one of my favourite notes even though I think it mostly leans fem, which I've no problem with. So to hear that this comes off actually masculine really intrigues me how I'll perceive it.

Personally have never tries Penhaligon's perfumes, but it has been on my wishlist for a while now! From the description, I love the juxtaposition between the spicy woody notes to the sweet vanilla in the base. The way the fragrance progresses, it almost seems like a story to me. From the top notes to the bottom notes, it seems as no part is left behind. I love how even though I have never smelled this perfume, the vivid description has aready conjured emotions and experiences that have yet to happen from within me.

I love your reviews btw, very straight forward and to the point with no frills. I know that people like "Top 10,15...20's" videos as they probably get a lot of views, but to be honest I prefer when you review just single fragrances. Hi 👋
Thanks for being one of few people to review this one! 😊
The thing that got my attention most in the review was when you said about the vanilla coming in and mixing with the woods. Sounds sublime 😍.
The reason I would love this in my collection is because when growing up, my ‘thing’ was Egypt. Loads of kids were into games and some kids were into the planets or dinosaurs, my thing was Egypt. I loved everything about it and learning about it, the history, the culture, everything. I was obsessed and I’m super curious to see how such a well known house has encapsulated that in a fragrance.
Also, I’d love a fragrance that sounds like this to take me into the colder months (my favourite time of year)
    Thanks for the giveaway
    Richard from Wales, United Kingdom

Papyrus is one of my favorite notes in fragrances. Cairo sounds way more complex than I would have assumed given the notes breakdown. I almost visited Cairo once, but it was during riots, so my tour was rerouted to Turkey. What sounds more interesting in Cairo is the idea of a woody rose 🌹 those kind of examples sound to my ears very classy and the Penhaligons is known for being classy brand and I love classy scents that they are inspired from the Middle East . Also I find that masculine rose scents suit me the best! Also we produce the saffron in north Greece it’s an ingredient I love also incense! I want that one because in my want to by list for this fall is already Egypt from eight and bob and I would love to have Cairo as well ! They’re enough and they got all that “Egypt” concept and the classy feel I need ! Thanks . Vaggelis from Athens Greece

I’d love to get my hands on their newest release!! It sounds like a fragrance right up my alley. I’m all about fragrances that are complex, rich, full of body and definitely have spices/woods. Cairo sounds like it fits the bill. I have other Penhaligons like sartorial, Endymion and tragedy of lord George. Dave from the United States.

W A N T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need! All of it, everything. The rose, the spices, the vanilla - this is something I know I would love, as soon as I heard the notes. Total me. One of my prized possessions is Elixir, and Lothair has been on my radar for awhile. So out of my price range - winning a bottle would likely be the only way I'd get my hand on one. Greetings from the hot steamy Big Apple, NYC, in the USA!
