Jeff had 3 daughters from his first marriage... He was still married to his first wife when he did this monologue... He is now married to his second wife He makes many jokes about how much younger then him she is) and they have twin sons, so he has 5 children total, plus he is a grandfather too...
Tom Selleck was Magnum P.I. and more recently (11+ years) Commissioner Frank Reagan on TVs Blue Bloods
And Monica’s father’s friend Richard, who she dated on Friends.
@@efealtingediz that helps her more I bet.
But the joke was a definite Magnum P.I. reference. A part of me is perpetually stuck in the 80s, but I'll refrain from geeking out over the show, and leave it at:
Search a few still shots of it. Seeing Selleck in the trademark red Hawaiian shirt should be sufficient to get the gist of the joke
Jeff designed and built all of his puppets he uses in his act.
You mean they aren't real? LOL. I have watched them so long its like the Muppets. You learn the personality they project.
As of today, June 5, 2024, Jeff is 62-years-old, meaning that he’s been a ventriloquist for more than fifty years. Amazing longevity and talent.
A good parent encourages what their kid likes and enjoys, not supresses it and goes no you gotta play with this, and you gotta be interested in this! His parents probably thought well that's odd, but it shows our son is creative and imaginitive and that's a good thing. He's not a boring generic kid.
That puppet in the back was Sweet Daddy D, he was only used a few times then Jeff had to bench him forever cause well...snowflakes got upset at him and cancelled him.
Do you know that for a fact?
@@efealtingediz Jeff explained that Sweet Daddy D was to much or something, I forget the exact words it was years ago.
Eh, it just wasn't that good of a character imo. I never did click with it.
@@Berto2K Not surprising. There really is only one or two jokes you can do with him. So it get's old fast.
Hey, little sister, when I was 14, in 1979, I had a mustache. And in 79, you wanted to be on Soul Train, Dick Clark's AMERICAN BAND STAND, SOLID GOLD, or on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.
I was laughing so hard when he was showing all the photos 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
You asked why a kid would get a dummy check out 12 year old *Darcy Lynn* from *AGT* I can't put the link but it's a 7min video explains why she was given the dummy & then she performs not only ventriloquism but singing ventriloquism. As a mother I think we can even get some tears out of this reaction
I would LOVE for Britt to check out Darcy! I know she'd love her :D
He and I are about the same age. Ventriloquism was a real thing for kids our age in the late 60's. About the same time I got a Danny O'Day ventriloquist doll for Christmas. I, on the other hand had and older sister and friends who distracted me from it over time.
Sweet Daddy D!!!! he was only in 1 or 2 specials. He was his manager doll. Very funny skit
Britt, he missed a great opportunity at the airport. The first thing I thought of when he started the description of the "Peanut & the Swab" episode, I could hear Peanut turn his head to look at the inspector and loudly ask, "Hey!! What are you doing back there???" THAT would have brought down the house on "TSA Lane" at The Burbank Airport!! 😂🤣
in 2009, Jeff has a short lived comedy series, the Jeff Dunham show, doing sketch comedy. That shot at 12:12 is from one of the episodes. The show was short lived, because, at the time, it was THE most expensive show for Comedy Central to produce.
He's a really good writer, and his skill with puppets is magical to me.
The helicopter came in a kit, but still had to be built, certified and tested.
Britt I think you'll really enjoy his "All over the map" special. Jeff performs in a bunch of foreign countries, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Malaysia, Australia, the UAE just to name some.
Tom Selleck is the actor that played Magnum, P.I. back in the day. That character always was wearing Hawaiian shirts and had a mustache.
Tom Selleck is a famous actor who's been around a long time. For a long time his big role as the TV show Blue Bloods a cop show. Also as for Jeff having a mustache, guys can start getting one after puberty, so like 15-16 you could have a full on mustache. Not all guys obviously, some get fuzz, some get nothing, some get a damn bush lol.
I had a full mustache at 13, I'm half-Italian enough said.
@@eaglesfan0726 Ah.
Imagine this, Jeff and wifey role playing just to mix things up , Ha!
As far as "building" his own helo, what he did was assemble one from a kit. A few companies make kits to build your own car, plane, gyrocopter, and helicopter. It still take a good deal a skill but you don't have to "design" it as that's done for you.
I had a Danny O'Day doll and learned how to do this at the age of 6. This led to my interest in doing Magic, then that led to my current profession... Film.
Jewel tone blue ? What the heck is that? That's a phrase I've never heard of my life
When you saw the family photo and Jeff with a mustache, I thought we'd hear the panties drop. LOL
What would make parent's get a dummy for their kid? When everything in the house starts talking!
The puppet you asked about is Sweet Daddy D. He used him on his first special.
Back in the day there were a couple famous ventriloquists that probably captured Jeff’s imagination as a kid, and he probably pestered his parents until they bought him a dummy. 😂
Tom Selleck was in the TV show Magnum P, I. in the 1980s and currently stars in the TV show Blue Bloods
Being from Southern California originally I can attest that there is a large number of Mexican immigrants who don’t speak English.
The black puppet was Sweet Daddy Dee. He's a Player In a Management Position (PIMP).
In the scene right before it swapped over to unhinged in Hollywood special at the time Jeff's adopted parents were married for 56 years
There’s a video of Jeff making one of his dolls from start to finish on CZcams worth watching
OMG..."I don't know who Tom Selleck is,"...I'm so old!
The other puppet with the girl is BIG DADDY D. From his first special unfortunately never used it more than a few times which is a shame. It's hilarious
He is my son's absolute favorite person. I got tickets and surprised him with them when Jeff came to Georgia. We had so much fun that night.
Tom Sard Stardust, Magnum PI in the TV series Magnum PI also the father of Blue Bloods
Jeff is The Ventriloquist G.O.A.T. 👍👍👍👍
lol I started growing a beard and mustache when I was 13. Lol for Tom, you need to watch an episode of the original Magnum P.I. He has also done a lot of westerns and various other movies and shows. A few years ago, right before covid, Jeff came to Wyoming. I am sure you can imagine how rare that is. Anyway, he came to town sadly the very next day after his father's funeral. In the process he broke down a bit so he got to hear some wonderful stories with his dad. Then he finished his show. It was very special and I wish I had recorded it. First he made us cry, then he made us laugh.
I think Jeff went to college initially to get a communications degree but he graduated with a degree in science and arts. For most people such degrees in arts and science are considered just a general range education similar to high school where you learn a little of everything. There are certain degrees where you aren't focusing on one area or another but just take a general range of classes like high school, where you take classes in math, science, english, history, and so on.
Tom selleck is the actor that plays magnum pi, and the police commissioner in blue bloods
Me & my dad went to Jeff Dunham in January we didn’t stop laughing
I had two dummies when I was a small child. I had Danny O' Day and Mortimer Sneed.
Tom Sellick was in Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods
William Riker on Star Trek the Next Generation also played the trombone.
That was sweet daddy d a character he retired
Tom Selleck is in Blue Blood. He was Magnum P.I. back in the early 1980's in the original series.
Tom Selleck was the original Magnum PI
I first saw Jeff Dunham, rather his puppets, Peanut and Jose Jalapeno on a Stick, at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida. A traditional puppet show did not see Jeff only his puppets with Dunham below the stage.
The pimp puppet is Sweet Daddy D
Yep, that's pretty much how it is when you follow your own passions and hearts desires and actually pursue what it is in life that you really want to do. Irrespective to your education or what others might expect you to do. It's called "doing you, " even when others don't quite understand it, but I get it Jeff, I definitely get it.
Hey I had a mustache in 8th grade fully grown one in 9th grade, some ppl started with facial hair earlier.
There have been so many killer doll movies I am surprised he doesn't have a Psycho Killer Puppet.
I’m old I’m not wearing short shorts again. Tom Selleck is an actor Magnum PI, he’s on Blueblood# now and been in many many many movies.
Super talented ❤
A new puppet and it's name is "Suppository" Ha!
I had a full mustache at 17.
Lol
You should check out Jeff's stand-up, when he talks about his daughters scaring him; also his eldest daughter getting her driver's license, and his wife taking her to put petrol in the car. It's hilarious.
Back then it was a popular way of entertainment and kids wanted to be one
Britt, you would be vomiting all the way to the bank now and would make the wedding photos worth it. Also, my son was required to shave in high school (in the 1980’s) beginning when he was barely 14-yrs old. He could get by with only doing it every other day - he could grow a full grown beard in about a week so yes, it’s possible to have a mustache in high school. We moved his junior year and they had no dress code - he had a full grown beard & mustache and first day the other kids thought he was a teacher. One of the kids said “no, he’s a student.” The other kid said “HOW MANY GRADES DID HE FAIL?!?!” LOL 🤣
Brit Jeff always wanted to be the number one ventriloquist in the world and he surpassed that becoming the number one comedian in the world. And all being self trained
Yes he dose designs and makes all of his own puppets
An only and adopted child. Can make a difference.
He has 3 grown daughters with his first wife and after their divorce he got remarried and has 2 twin boys with his second wife.
The third one was 2006. I pay attention to all of the years of the specials
People can laugh at him...all while he does what he loves and laughs all the way to the bank. Most people are laughing with him, but this is proof people can and should follow their dreams.
The lotion joke reverberates throughout that show... and pops up from time to time in his shows to this day...
And as to where it was found, Peanut is a dummy type with a soft body. You manipulate him by putting your arm inside from the lower back/posterior. Walter is a plastic chest-type, with a hollow back. You put your arm inside through a slit in the shirt in the mid-back. The lotion was most likely hand lotion on the area around the opening, as dry skin can cause issues like cracking open and bleeding (my mom had that issue as a nurse, frequent hand washes dries the skin out, and you don't want blood marring the dummies, especially since peanut has white fur) or snagging on fabric or fur, even causing friction loss with his grip on José Jalapeño on a Stick.
Tom Selleck is an actor who played magnum pi and was in three men and a baby
7:16 not just an only child, he was adopted, as he explains in Relative Disaster
9:08 that dummy was part of a Used Car Lot commercial in Texas Jeff "starred" in back then. I remember him talking about it in the video he posted in youtube about how Star Wars was big and he dressed the dummy as a knock-off Luke Skywalker.
I have been a fan of Jeff and Peanut since 1991.......
It's gonna be a very cold day in hell before anyone ever see's me wearing shorts like that... 😱🤣
There's actually footage of him building new puppets on his CZcams channel. He built somewhere around three brand new characters during the CoVid lockdown.
Yes, Jeff DOES build his own dummies too... He has YT vids of him building some of them in his workshop too...
Jeff was adopted, true story
Yeah, 6th grade I was trying to haul my trombone on the bus to and from school every day, and my scarecrow self probably could have been stuffed inside the case with the trombone. Every day of high school guys telling me "If you hit me with that trombone case, I'll kick your ass." Yeah, I quit band after 6th grade, which was kind of a shame. I was using my dad's trombone (in its alligator skin case) he had had since he was in high school marching band and had marched in President Kennedy's Inaugural Parade, so if I hadn't been terrified of being twisted into a pretzel by a high school guy who played defensive line on the football team I might have played in some big event some day too. Probably not, but who knows? 😛
My niece now plays my late dad's trombone in high school band and enjoys it, so thankfully she is making up for my shortcomings. 😀 Also, my sister and her family live less than a mile from the high school that my niece gets picked up and dropped off in a car, avoiding my bus riding nightmares. 😀
Trombonists who can fit into their trombone cases. We were a special breed. 😀
yes Jeff builds his own dummies
I wonder if there a similar photos of Jim Henson growing up.
Tom selleck is an all time great actor, if you havent watched him in the three men films i would definitely watch them
I`m pretty sure I saw a behind the scenes video somewhere where he does make his own puppets.
3:18 at the same time omg
Britt
Besides having 3 grown daughters, Jeff divorced their mother after many years, he met and married another woman. They have twin boys, daughters' half-brothers.
The stash is real, i have had one since 13 and full homeless man beard by 15.
He is adopted and built and flew a helicopter. He has been married twice. He was married for over 15 years the first time. He is married now to audrey who is about 18 years younger than he is. He has 5 kids now. 3 girls and twin boys. He built a functioning bat mobile.
If you like this type of humor, Nina Conti takes it to the next level and uses audience members as her puppets. She is soooo funny. Lots of great CZcams videos of her.
Madison Rising Please let it be so
To answer the question about puppets and dummies and why would a kid want one or a parent buy one for their kid. I'm about 12 years younger than Jeff and I remember puppet shows were a big deal, I mean Jim Hensons puppets, the muppets, Sesame Street were all big, howdie Doody was a dummy on TV it was just a think... One of my best friends had a dummy, We would put it up in his brothers room at night when he slept to freak him out.. ha I do remember seeing Jeff on TV back I think in the late 80's maybe around 1990 I was still in high school. This guy has been doing this his entire life.. He also makes all his own dummies.
12:21 Yes, Jeff Dunham built most of his dummies (at least the ones he uses now)
When he was growing up there was a very popular TV sitcom called SOAP. On it was a ventriloquist named James Johnson with a dummy. So while it was odd it wasn't totally alien to people and since Dunham was good enough to get paid as a kid.
Jay
from what I remember Jeff does build most if not all of his dummies plus others
At age, 22, I went in the Army in 1976.
Tom Selleck was every woman's heartthrob in his younger days. Check out old episodes of Hawaii 5-0.
What about Magnum, P.I.? He was the star of that.
He actually did build most of his dummies. There is a video about him building Walter.
You need to watch all his shows. He is hillariuos.
well...i remember a few people in HS having a full beard around the age of 16.
3 daughters 1st wife, twin boys 2nd wife
He was raised in a foster home just like I was
Tom Sellick??? Magnum P.I. 70's 80's and current Blue Bloods
3:39 Yes...but JEFF's the one who's on TV and probably at LEAST has a few million in his pocket, and a sexy wife. So, I say Jeff's got the LAST LAUGH.
4:55 Yes, the 1970's had some hideous fashions.
I played the trombone, as well.
Think the only puppet that he has not made is peanut. URL is his newest and he has clips on CZcams making him.
Some guys can grow a mustache from 15-17
Love you my friend.
