Most of us never even thought he could die. It didn't even come up to our minds. He just retired recently and we all thought he was just opening a new chapter in his life that will last longer then his career. And now suddenly he is gone. That's why it feels so surreal.

The thing that truly separates Kobe from the rest, is his continuous evolvement.
At 11 he wasn't a good basketball player, and made it a long term plan through work and perseverance to become the absolute elite player that he is.
At 24 he wasn't a considerate leader and he changed his understanding of others to become the charismatic leader that he is.
At 37+ he wasn't a writer, but he endeavoured into uncharted paths using the experience of other experts and his attention to detail to become the charming story teller that he is.
Kobe walked the path better than any other. He understood (contrary to many other greats) that the road to true fulfilment is the Generosity to pass his wisdom and mindfulness to others.
That's why so many players adore him as a role model and mentor, and that's why we love him, although we may have never met him in person. He cares to pass the torch.
Kobe by teaching himself, and ascending to teaching others has become a true Master and that cannot be said about anyone of his peers.
You will be dearly missed, but we are oh so grateful for the journey.

He's a genius at basketball. The poem itself is nice, college-level free verse. Becoming a great writer requires not just stupendous talent but also decades of hyper-focused practice, wide, deep reading, and luck. Kobe's definitely got luck.

Don't know why I'm doing this watching his videos it makes me so sad. I ain't a sports fan especially basketball we don't watch it much in the UK. But for some reason this hit me hard. I think mostly because his smile radiated so much love and happiness. Maybe because he loved his family so much and the way he spoke of his daughters and wife. I think it hit me more because his daughter was with him. I can't even imagine what he said to her in those last moments. Heartbreaking 😔

Kobe's family I think because being a public figure makes it much more harder because he was recognized world wide. My prayers are always there for his wife Vanessa, his children, his parents and the other families who lost their loved ones. Just very, very sad.
