- This catogory of pipelines are getting popular due to durability, corrosion resistance, easier and quicker and inexpensive installation process. low running cost. RTR and RTP pipelines are the most used types of NOnm metallic pipelines. There is a plan to replace CS pipelines with Non-metallic.
There was a time when Non-metallic piping were used for low pressure utility systems- like storm water, plant utility waters etc. But now a days high pressure non metallic pipes and developed pipe joining technology made it realised to use High pressure pipelines with great success rates. We will discuss specially RTR and RTP pipelines in our play list.
What are non metallic pipes?
Non-metallic materials are used in non-critical services such as water and drainage, where operating pressure and temperature are less than process lines. In this lecture, I will give you an overview of these materials. Commonly used non-metallic piping materials are. PVC / CPVC. HDPE.
What is the difference between metallic and non metallic pipes?
They are also more durable and have a longer lifespan. Non-metallic conduit is made of plastic or other material, less durable than metal. However, is it less expensive, lighter weight, more flexible and more corrosion resistant
What is FRP vs GRP vs GRE?
FRP is the general term for glass fiber reinforced composite materials, that is, the general term for glass fiber reinforced plastics, which contains GRE and GRP. FRP is composed of matrix materials and reinforced materials. Due to the different matrix materials, some are called GRE, and some are called GRP.
What is the difference between GRP and RTR?
The Reinforced Thermosetting Resin Pipe (RTRP) is also known as the GRP (glass reinforced plastic) pipe or FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) pipe. Due to its unique characteristics, it offers a range of advantages over the pipes that are made of traditional, currently used, materials.
If the resin used in GRP is polyester, then it will be named as GRUP. Epoxy, vinyl ester, and polyester are thermosetting resin. So the other name for GRP is reinforced thermosetting resin plastic (RTR or RTRP). To conclude, GRE, GRVE, and GRUP are different types of GRP, and RTR is a different variation name of GRP

Not really, I have only worked with Water and Condensate line, both low pressure utility and High pressure cross country pipelines

I am a GRP laminator I need FPI cartificate can you give some information how to get it
Vendor can train and qualify you. You have go through a construction contractor who adopted that vendor. Vendor is charging good amount of money for this certification. You can approach them directly also and pay them- I don’t think they will allow this- because if any laminator performs bad with their certification- client can catch them
