Because she’s basically blocking out people for shallow reasons. What if her true love is ironically enough… tall? @@noriyealice5916 I wouldn't really see it as shallow because it's not her being judgemental of them for these characteristics, but considerate. The reasons she rejected those guys was because she felt like the tall guy would be uncomfortable pushing her wheel chair because it's more difficult for tall people, she wanted the guy who liked hiking and walks to find someone more compatible with an active lifestyle, and she couldn't date anyone with cats because hers has FIV and could spread it to other cats if they cohabitate. Her reasons for rejecting all of them were for what she thought was the others best interest, not her own.

In other words, they can talk to a fourth person, but if they hit the button, they eliminate themselves or the new person can eliminate them. And the new person gets to know if the other person has used up their eliminations.

I really feel that Emily is in a constant defense mechanism. No, her answers are not solid. They are as solid as saying "I don't trust your shirt buttons" or "we can't date because I have a cactus whose name is Terry". She rejected everybody because she didn't want to feel the pain of being rejected - the pain she probably knows too well. When she was talking to Fahwad, she hit the button at the speed of light even though she was clearly attracted to the guy. "You're too tall to push my wheelchair"...? Who said he wants to push her wheelchair? But at least now she can go home and brag that she rejected three people.

I don't see it that way. Love is kind of like a trade. She wasn't diminishing herself but I think she realizes that different people have different needs. She wasn't being entitled to love and remained kind while expressing that it probably wouldn't realistically work. It seems like she knows what she wants I don't think she's selling herself short.
