Those mixed fields of cars were some of the best touring car racing I reckon.

Anyone that complains about current TV telecasts of the touring cars just direct them here. This is what we had to watch and not a scrap of information about anyone other than the leaders. Thank goodness it improved! :)

Indeed - how did that car end up on its roof? I'm amazed they didn;t try to move that off the track too

Excellent stuff! This is one of the earliest races I've heard crompo commentating on. When did he start?

Absolutely loved these race days, true grit real cars real drivers, and you could buy these cars from the dealership, today ha ha nothing but crap, imports, notice these events are packed back then, as today not much at all, plus the tickets cost a fortune, bring this back you will have sold out events😊🇦🇺

Allan Moffat was a brilliant driver, in fact better than brock as the Holdens where always given preference.

Bit late on your comment but can never understand the assertions by some that Moff wasn't a naturally gifted driver. But even so, if that's what hard work and determination gets, show the kids! No doubt Brock was gifted, but CAMS looked after M/HDT as PB was the poster boy, great in front of a camera, so was propped up from all angles.

I accept that Peter Brock was brilliant and loved by so many, but I am drawn to Allan Moffat as the underdog who many disliked. He had to try so much harder. We Brits love an underdog.

Allan Moffat had his fans including me from the first time I saw him race in 1973. I remember Moffat looking like he was going slower when he was leading the race and went on to win, showing his smoothness which was a mark of natural ability. The Mazda would have been a difficult car to win with in a short race on a slow, tight circuit but he won this race, nonetheless. Later Brock would split from Holdan and drive as a private entrant like Moffat is here but he would achieve little in the way of results.
