- We moved Gene’s parents to the farm in September of 2022. We purchased a storage shed and Gene has been working hard all year on converting it into a cute little cottage cabin for his parents.

What a blessing that you have a wife was in agreement with moving his parents closer so that you’ll can keep an eye on them. It seems like you all have a really good relationship and its such a joy to know that your son‘s wife have a love and respect for you, as well as their son
I want to thank all four of you guys for allowing us to see what can be done with that square footage! Seeing what they're able to do with that small of a place gave me so many ideas for us when we build on our land! They have a really cute place to call their home along with the beautiful scenery and family all nearby! They're so precious and adorable! I think this is a great idea! Keep mom and pop close by in their senior years so you can help them with their health if necessary, and then after they pass away, you can rent out the property in order to back whatever you have spent on it. This is more ideal than shipping mom and/or pop off to a nursing home. So respectful and loving.

The last 24 years of my parents life we did like you. They are both gone , but oh! The great blessing! Precieuses memories. They stay with us right to the end. The knew they were loved and apreciated, we have been living 23 years with one of our son, my husband has passaways 10 years ago, and l love to spend my lasts years on earth near my loved ones, with ours childrens , gr,childen and great gr, children, but like your Mum said the most important is Jesus Yeshua with us, bless you all

How amazing are you, to your parents. You four are blessed by, the Lord, above. My husband has advanced Parkinson's. He is confined to his hospital bed, in our home. I care for him, 365. We have been married 55+ years. Our Son has been absent for years and, wants no part of our lives. I have MS and, can get around. You are so respectful of your families because, you are faith oriented, as are we. God can get us through anything, if we let him.

Things may be a bit crowded but notice how neat everything is,it speaks for the character of these two nice people.
Your parents are so sweet, God bless them. The cabin looks nice but I have a suggestion to make the living room bigger: what about building an extension to the porch and enclose it, connecting to the inside of the cabin via a door and move the laundry room there? This way you could remove that wall that encloses the laundry room and expand the living room.

Similar to your parents, I too live in a 2200 square foot house, but don't quite know how to get out and downsize into something smaller. God bless you two for looking out for Gene's parents! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love their beautiful new home and the peacefulness of the property. Thank you for sharing!
I'm your age--with the same downsizing quandary. Too much stuff! And my heirs aren't interested in all the generations of stuff that I don't want to dust any more! So--2024 will be the year of declutter and then on from there!

That’s what I say about my tastefully renovated manufactured home with new double paned windows that also showcase peaceful views of the 2+ wooded acres…..yet still, the energy provider HAS to label it a”trailer” mobile home despite its permanent real estate foundation, and it’s discriminated against. A good thing when it comes to county taxes , but not so great if you need a mortgage on that 80k, or can’t find a local insurance provider.
That’s so wonderful what you guys have done for mom and dad. I would say they are a total blessing. ❤

That house is huge! Who would ever think it started out as a storage building! But then again, don't all stick homes start out as storage buildings until we finish the inside? I love the comparison of looking at 20 something's tiny homes vs 50+s tiny homes. The people my generation are somehow still able to have their knick knacks and momentos, which I love! Gives it a homey feel vs a model home, never actually lived in vibe of the younger generation 😊

Your parents are so sweet and grateful! I have a sweet friend I say is my auntie! They moved to FL and recently she was diagnosed with Parkinsons. We are broken-hearted to hear but more so that they are now far away! They never had children so I struggle knowing they are battling this disease without help! I pray that God opens someone heart and they can be a blessing! God bless you for loving and caring for then as it should be. I took care of mom who had Alzheimer’s for 15 yrs and it was so hard but now I am at peace because she was Taken care of! She been with the Lord 2 yrs now!

This is just beautiful!! I have a Tiny House. It’s 12X32 I lived in it for 4 years with walls dividing the rooms. It was pretty cramped. I’ve had to go on disability a few years ago. So my daughter, her husband and kids have removed all the walls (in case a wheelchair is in my future). We have one wall across the back that sections off my bathroom and closet. It looks so much bigger with all the walls down. Work is almost done. This makes me so excited to get back in. Thanks for sharing this with us. Merry Christmas.
