Have to ask why you backed the jam-type adjusting screws out of the rocker arms?
Rebuilt a lot of Ford diesel engines from 40-300hp plus units ( vehicle and marine) in the last 35ish years and never had to unwind them out like that unless its to replace a damaged one (which hardly ever happens)

How do you make or replace the oil tubes, I’m in need of the tube closest to # 1 piston,I’ve been lookin,I can buy a straight tube, but don’t know what I’ll use for that ring like that plays the hold down, your tip would be helpful,I just completed my 172d also, gonna instal motor next week, appreciate your tips. Tom.

The front tube you could easily make. As for the little ridge you can get a flaring tool that has the push-to-connect dies to make the ridge. On the rear pipe it would be very difficult to make the two ridges at the bottom where the square cut o-ring goes without the proper tooling and its probably very expensive.

@@chickenhousemechanic ! I found the dies that you suggested, less than $100, you get 1/8” 1/4” and 5/16” in that set,but as you said,I also seem for $400. Thks again.

@@YOU-vj4fl you're welcome. I bought the $400 hydraulic flaring tool years ago and it's still going strong. It works great if you do a lot of them but not worth it for just a few.
