  • We learn how to choose the cases that we want for an analysis. Sometimes we filter out unneeded cases using filters for categorical variables or pass-through filters for scale variables. Other times, we split an analysis into two or more parts. Finally, we choose exactly which two groups we need when doing a independent samples t-test in JASP. In each of these example, I show you how this is done in SPSS, then how to do it in JASP. This is the fourth in a series introducing statistics students to exploring statistics with JASP.

    Very informative and clear, I am here because I decided to use JASP with my students in quantitative methods for sociology students instead of SPSS, simply because this open source and for free.

    This series is so helpful! Thank you so much, you explained the problem I was having so perfectly! Now my motivation is through the roof! Greetings from a struggling student from Germany

    So amazing,I love the way you simplify the analysis just like, counting 1,2,3..

    Hi there! Thanks for the classes! Just one question: when you filter the condition variable for the t student analysis, the filter just aplly to the current analysis or updates all the past analysis that we already (eventually) made ? Namely, if we already made a descriptive analysis for the condition variable?

    I'm trying to do a repeated measures ANOVA and I need to compare my main output variable on Day 1 to the same variable on Day 2. Is there a way to do that in JASP, or do I need to split it up myself before I import into JASP?

    Thank you for the informative video. Is there any way to split files to perform other type of analyses, such as regression?

    • @ResearchByDesign
      @ResearchByDesign  Před 3 lety

      Regression, yes. I'll send you that link. Split files is possible with selection, but you can't analyze both groups simultaneously. You select one, analyze, select the other, analyze. czcams.com/video/vKGphOrzze8/video.html

    Hi, how do i split the data set for multiple categorial variables. For example I want to split the data according to age and sex?

    @tashinaallen9028 Před 3 lety

    Hi, at 8:11 of the video, you split the file by clicking on data at the top of the screen. How can I split a file if I'm on windows?

    • @ResearchByDesign
      @ResearchByDesign  Před 3 lety

      Not sure with Windows, but I would think that there would also be similar drop down menu options in the Windows version. You are looking for the Data > Split File... Good luck

    Can we apply different filters for different sections. when I apply filter it affects all the plots/sections in the JASP file.

    • @ResearchByDesign
      @ResearchByDesign  Před 3 lety

      My workaround for that has been to create a separate dataset...but the quick answer is that when you use a filter it affects all of the data in the analysis, so you need to add that extra step of data cleaning if you want to analyze both with and without filters. Good luck

    hahaha almost correct: kaneelbroodjes, keukenpapier ("kitchenpaper") and WC rollen!
