Neither my wife nor I drink coffee, so we buy and vacuum seal coffee. If you barter alcohol, pre stock 1oz plastic bottles to "dole-out" your supply. I have been looking for a serviceable treadle sewing machine. I believe one of those would literally be worth their weight in ammunition.

I always keep asking myself what I would want to barter FOR. As a prepper, over the years I stockpiled all I could think of - but nothing can replace fresh food. I stored plenty of canned food, but I would always prefer fresh food. So what would a farmer want in exchange for his fresh food? I have stored a lot of toilet paper and layed it down in the attic as an insulator to save on heating costs.

I also so the same with all paper products which are stored in the rafters overhead, they are light and easily stored this way, also buying now negates the higher cost down the road….which makes me smile.

I'm from Texas, and the same thought crossed my mind (so I have a section for tobacco products in my "storage") 😉

I could never prep alcohol because I'm afraid I would drink it. 10 years clean and sober. Same goes with pop tarts. Every hurricane season, I buy them as a prep and eat them all in 2 weeks.

I have the same problem with cigarettes and will never have them in the house.

My wife and I are seniors and will soon be needing help around the house, was thinking about putting together some meal and hygiene kits to swap for work around the house. We keep national brand canned food for ourselves but some of the cheaper brands might be good for bartering. Something to think on...

I created what I call The Barter Wall. I hit the discount grocery store (an Amish place that also sells in bulk) once a month and always walk away with a lot to add to that wall, every single time. I also budget in $40 for the Dollar Tree every month for hygiene essentials. I even have Ziploc bags already made up for barter. Some even include coffee, tea, and a few harder vices, lol. I made up my own *MREs that line the shelves, already in bags, ready to go (the actual food to rehydrate is in a mylar bag). After a year on the shelves, I rotate them out and replace as needed. I'm very lucky to own a business so I'm able to purchase most of these items wholesale. Makes a huge difference at the end of the day. My barter items are good just to have on hand if we find ourselves in hard time.
*I use the Warfighter model for daily caloric intake.

A good prep are medications and health items to help people go through withdrawals. Blood pressure, tremors, nausea and vomiting, seizures are all common with people going cold turkey. But one of those rat traps that they run up to the top and drop in. People can use them for pest control, but also as a food source. Rat is a common street food I foreign countries and it really isn't that bad. Supplies might also be good to have in bulk.

I think ammo will become an issue people back stabbing even close people, if it’s a fallout/civil war situation I think it would turn very bad… maybe having stuff too barter with to get other peoples ammo would be smart to keep yourself safe, but who’s to say you won’t then turn too the outlaw.. I guess having enough and a little bit of everything will keep you on the straight and narrow and not allow you too need to do the same bad already going on. Thanks great video

Absolutely should be no different than when you bought them as long as they were stored properly.

Yer, look it might be a good idea or might cost your life, don’t show your preps , if you got what they want and starving to death, they will do anything and they will tell everyone else……just my opinion
