I’ve always said the sports card industry is all about ripping people off. It’s such a selfish industry with flippers and people trying to make a quick buck. This video was a prime example of the dirtiness in the hobby. That kid knew full well what that card was worth and he had the balls to tell you he made a profit after he flipped the card you sold him.

Scammers pull of crap like that but what that kid did wasn’t scamming. He had it priced at the price he wanted and the kid made a deal on it. What’s he supposed to do tell the guy your price is severely low and you should double it? It’s on a seller to do his/her due diligence prior to pricing their cards.

A few months ago i walked into my LCS. picked up a 1st bowman gold auto refractor of joey gallo in a BGS 9.5 for $50 and turned around a few hours later and flipped it for $550. The craziest deal i have ever came upon.

Yea idk, he was very hesitant to tell Geoff what he sold it for, not sure if he sold it for more than 2 or not but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. You could definitely sell that card for at least 3 tho with patience.

There's no way someone would even RISK negotiating on a mispriced card bc it's a 50/50 shot the seller looks up the latest comp on the spot before agreeing. And who comes back to tell someone "Oh by the way, I sold that card you gave me a deal on for 2x." No shot man.
Yea it was a weird situation. First thing is Geoff has his camera and crew all around him and I’m sure when they’re filming content he doesn’t allow people to jump in and make offers on other cards so I’m almost sure that deal was pre negotiated. The kid coming back also doesn’t make any sense. He seemed very nervous to tell Geoff what he sold it for and told him for what reason? To make himself feel better? It’s just a messy situation. I’m almost convinced the whole thing was scripted to give Geoff some content but Geoff never does stuff like that. I’m very confused and would like to know what actually happened in this situation.

If it makes you feel any better I was once scammed by a guy who literally had a name sportcardinvestor something like similar to your name and he scammed me into thinking i won a raffle for a hobby box and all i had to do was send him the 200 dollars or something crazy like that to cover express shipping. None, cards are tanking and anything you buy now usually goes down in value by the next week when the next set is released
I suggest staying far away but do the research of the dark side of collecting these cards to verify that.

It is called cherry picking and most think it is acceptable to find things that are misgraded and mispriced or taking advantage of others mistakes.

I've met an attempted to negotiate with the other guys, and they won't do a deal with you unless you are taking at least a 30% bath off comps, and thats after getting tenderize. Thanks for making the content super ethical and sorry you got screwed by the kid. If the kid made $$ he probably shoulda kicked some back, but I'm sure the kid "needed" the level up more than you did right? so does that means justify this end? Not sure if the hobby Gods like this deal, but Hobby Karma will defintely hook you up on the next one Geoff.
