I really appreciate that!!
This looks somewhat similar to a wallet i made myself a while back. Its my favorite design. At the time i had taken elements of 3 different designs i liked and meshed them. loved the video.
Thanks for watching!!!
Nothing like a little Billy Idol in the background to set the mood. I'm on my 8th time watching all your videos. Guess I should be ready to try my hands at a simple wallet. Wahoo! Here go! Cheers.
Perfect!!!! And I appreciate the support!
Awesome Build ! Parov Stelar in the background👌

Thanks!! I try to make the films as entertaining as they are useful. May as well be fun to watch while learning at the same time
Your works man! Really good and inspiring! Im using this ruler technic especially.
Thanks for watching! And stay safe!
🤘🏻
Thank you so very much for sharing your process of leather-craft. I really enjoyed the way you "edited" your video and hearing some of your background music. Would appreciate sources for the tool that you rough up your edges before putting on contact cement and which Dremel tool do you use. Thanks in advance. Can hardly wait to see your next one. :)
Hey there, Great video as always!
Question for you. What size Barry King maul do you use? (the bigger one) . And curious why a Maul over a Mallet for you???
Trying to decide on what Barry King maul or mallet I want to buy, mainly for stitching chisels, whole punches etc. Thanks for the help!
Thank you very much for your sharing. That is Great work. I like it
Thanks!!
Thats incredible
Thanks’
And thanks for watching!
Excelente , Maestro que medidas tiene la herramienta con la que hace las costuras incluyendo el hilo ??
Hey brother love the video and craftmanship, gave me a lot of good ideas as I add a leather working section to my shop! I love the Diresta style speed up (always love hearing it sped up and then jumps to normal speed and we can see and hear exactly what's going on and we get to know you have good taste in tunes!) Lol. If you wouldn't mind answering a question, did you cut that granite slab yourself? I got a piece but its jagged on 2 ends and I'm debating on how I should clean it up.
Thanks!
Slab- I went to a granite counter top place and got free range in their dumpster. Sink cut outs. They toss them all. I’ve cut a few. And I have a bunch with jagged edges. I just slap a few layers of packing tap along the jags to protect
Just ordered mine days ago can wait to get it
Perfect! Did I confirm it?
@@MasconLeather my bad bro I thought this was the knaf strop wallet lol
Put the Horween stamp where you want it! Great! Love your work.
With Horween’s permission, of course. 👍
@@MasconLeather beautiful work. Great leather
Thanks! More videos coming soon.
Nice!
Good work thank you for sharing. If it ok. I want to know what kind of glue are you using and what liquid you just add in 2:50... In this video.
Thanks!
Barge cement and barge thinner.
Great job! May I ask, what kind of leather did you use? Thank you in advance.
Horween
Love it. Bout to pick up a leather craftsman kit. I would love to make myself and family wallets, things. Do you sell or have this pattern available for download ect? Thank you for you videos
Thank you! And thanks for the support! Unfortunately, I don’t sell my designs.
So you have a Horween Stamp! I wondered about that. And you strop your scalpel, another question I had. Heck two minutes in and I am all answered up!
Boom!!!
Where do you get your angled straight edges? Like that small 90 degree one...
I had them custom made by a machinist. All different sizes.
Love the " MIC DROP" attitude man... And your talent.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!
Great work as always! Thanks for sharing.
What’s the significance of the $2? I’ve noticed other leather artisans use the $2 in their photos as well.
Thanks! I worked in banking for 20+. So $2 bills weren’t that special and rare. But I like them
where you bought your mini leather grinder that appears in the 2:00 minute? great video
My son made it for me.
This is really good craftsmanship, really wish you woulda shown it filled up tho
Good idea !
Looks amazing! What oz leather are you working with?
5/6 oz
Is this wallet also known as the Cary Grant wallet? Love your videos and your dedication to the details and craftsmanship!
Thanks for the kind words! No. This is the Santiago. A full list and photos of all wallets is here - www.masconleather.com/new-index
Great video. Thank you for sharing your talents.
John Blackwell thanks !
What thickness of leather do you recommend for wallets? (Veg tan) I'm learning a new hobby and I'm curious to know what others with experience recommend.
Oh... I’m the wrong one to ask. It’s 100% a personal preference. I lean on the thick side. Way thicker than most.
Can you tell me from where i buy this?
Is available on amazon?
Contact me directly
I love it
Thanks !
And thanks for watching !
fabtastic
Lol. Thanks !!!
What size pricking irons do you use and what brand are they if I may ask?
1 to 15 teeth. 3mm to 6mm, depending on item. I did a whole video on hand stitching and chisels
Hey! I'm new to leathercrafting and love your videos, do you dye your edges and then burnish to get that awesome edge finish?
Thanks for watching! Yes, usually
@@MasconLeather Awesome, thanks, can't wait to give it a go :D
What grit sand paper do you use with your Dremel? Great video!
240. Thanks for watching!!
Very nice. What weight and type of leather did you use?
thanks!! Horween 6oz
Where did you get that rubber mat from? I've been searching but can't find anything like it
Alvin brand. 8’ x 4’
Plastic kitchen cutting board works good also.
Can I ask what the tool you use to rough up the edges is.
It's a crafttool "rougher". My son made the custom handle for me.
Did you ever make the same wallet without the stitching going across the area of the wallet that does not necessarily need the stitching? (Where you’re not stitching leather together) Curious what it would look like.
Across the fold? Yep, I do it occasionally. I don’t like it because it looks cheap, easy, and unfinished.
I miss your videos...
Nice work...
Thanks. More videos coming soon!!
Hello, excellent video, I want to ask you how do I find or how do I request the tool you use to reduce where you apply the glue, you use this in 6:44 min in the video. Thanks for your attention.
The leather rougher ? My son makes them. ...
zeebeeleather.com/shop/leather-rougher
Where did you get that little leather scuffer to rough up the leather for glueing?
My son made it. He makes a lot of my tools.
@@MasconLeather thanks for the reply, it looks great. I got the Tandy version for like $20+ but yours looks better, he should make em to sell!
The knife that your usin , not the Amazon knife, but the one with the wooden handle, were can find one exactly like it ? I bought a round Knife, I’ll probably get rid of it , just to much blade for me
Nt cutter is one I use. See my “tools used in leather craft “ video. I explain a lot and have tons of links in the description.
I've just bought my first whole hide of Horween Dublin. I'm really excited to get started. I noticed on this video you used a Horween stamp. Can I ask where you got it?
I think I've watched all your videos now, I find you sense of humour bang on🤣. Thanks for your great content, it's been very helpful as I only started in leather making at the beginning of 2022. Cheer.
Matt from England 🇬🇧
Congrats on the Horween!!! In England…. Did you go through A&A crack and sons? They’re great!!! The stamp, I had extensive chats with Nick Horween directly regarding logo usage, copy right issues, proper logo styles, etc. I had it made per his permission
@@MasconLeather yes, I got it from A A Crack & son. I was like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for it to arrive yesterday.
I can understand Horween being a bit careful with it's logo, can't have every Tom Dick & Harry stamping bits of leather with their logo.
Thanks for your reply,
Matt.😁👍
Funny …. I actually have a few hides from A & A. They’re great! Tell them I said hello!!
Marzenie taki portfel jestem godny podziwu super filmik a efekt końcowy niesamowity pozdrawiam serdecznie Paweł Podgórski Bydgoszcz PL.
Hi, perfect work, can you tell me what you use when rubbing peace of cloth on sides for shining?
Canvas
wow! I am impressed! how much it cost this wallet?
www.masconleather.com/new-index#/santiago-wallet
This may sound weird, but would you use a pattern by someone else ( who shares it with you ) and and you send them a royalty of every unit sold ?
No. Never. I love design and feel it’s 50% of the craft. So it’s counterintuitive for me
Очень красивая работа. Смотрится на одном дыхании.
Thank you for that!
What is that press machine called to stamp your leather
Arbor press.
Beauty
Thanks!!
What tool is that for scraping before putting glue?
Leather rougher. My son makes them for me
That's really exemplary, attractive i as always funny!)
Thank you for the comment!
hi... where'd you get a Horween ink stamp?
I had a lengthy discussion with nick Horween about proper trademark policies, logos, etc. and obtained permission.
Gday mate. Love your videos. I'm trying to understand the concept of the swapping of the rulers at the edges like you do. Was just wondering why you do that. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!!! It’s a short cut to manually measuring. Using jigs. Speeds things up x 10+. Efficient.
@@MasconLeather Much appreciated mate. Great channel and fantastic content. I've watched it all. Just love it.
Brett Stevens Hobart Tasmania.
Thanks!! And thanks again for watching!
Thanks !!
Again, love your work!
Where did you get your crimper? Also, the horween stamp. I'd have to contact horween for that, right?
Thanks!!! Crimper- Amy Roke leather pliers. And for logo stamp, the proper route is permission. For sure.
@@MasconLeather Thank you!
🤘
Where do you get your leather? And what type?
Horween and from Horween
❤️
you can tell me the thickness of the leather you used for this video and how to get the pattern of this model and thank you for this video
5/6 oz. I don’t sell my designs
What thread do you use? (Brand)
Ritza tiger
Can you share the bump jig and scuffer tool link please.
Yep!
Everything is here -

What is the name of the tool you use scrap away some of the leather before you glue everything together?
It’s a rougher. My sons make them. We’re going to have them available for sale to the public soon. Stay tuned
@@MasconLeather Thank you for telling me! I have never seen a tool like that before. I love watching your videos and how you work. As an up and coming leather worker, I am always inspired by your work and your process. I look forward to when the rougher tool will be released.
Great video. Can you provide the pattern for the wallet? Please
Thanks!
I don’t sell my designs.
Where did you get the Horween stamp?
After long discussions with Nick Horween regarding proper legal copyright policy and logo design.... he agreed that I could have one custom made
One of my good friends once said…keep it simple…its good way…now i can say…its true ;)
Yes !!
Que medidas tiene cada pieza
Looks like pro-line stitching chisels....other than that large 15 or 16 tooth one. Did you have that made? I'd love one that big that matches my set.
I had my 15 tooth chisels custom made.
@@MasconLeather did you take your pro line set to a local machinist and just have them match it up?
Nope. Kevin lee made them. Just asked for the mm spacing I wanted. He’s amazing.
@@MasconLeather I'm not familiar with him. Do you have a link to a website or anything?
I found his site. Very reasonably priced. How do you like them? Good quality? Nigel Armitage should do a review of his stuff.
What did you use to edge coat? Edge kote? What method did you use to apply? And why not show it?
No coating. No paint. I’ll be showing more details in future videos. It’s all planned out.
Well you got my interest and follow. You're a great artist and always enjoy your pics on Instagram. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words and support!
Oh it's Mascon took me till the end to realise...nice work.

Из чего сделана печатка и как ее делали?
How did you make the 90 degree edge tool? I can't find one anywhere
I had a machinist make me 12 or so, all different sizes. 👍
@@MasconLeather Great idea. I've watched many videos and yours are top notch. Thanks for you the inspiration.
I really do appreciate that!! Might have a new video coming out this Friday .... working on it
how can you stamp Horween on the leather? isnt this only done by the tannery?
Exactly! I had long talks with Nick Horween prior to stamps. We went over proper logos, placement, legal copywriting, proper usage, etc. in other words, I went through the trouble and obtained proper permission. From Mr. Horween
@@MasconLeather great job and good for you :) how can I contact him?:
Email. Unfortunately, It took months to get a reply. 😆
Whats the scratch tool u use ?

What weight leather are you using here?

Hey nice work i wanna know the name of scratch tools please
Crafttool. My son made a custom handle
The videos are very cool .. are there good profits in doing this for a living ?? Like how much profit could one make in a month or year ?
Thanks.
Doing “this”?
Videos? Leather? Marketing? Etc?
Regardless, it’s a lot more complicated than that.
Meaning making the leather what's the profit margin? Just curious
It’s far too varied to answer simply. Everyone is different. everyone’s pricing is different. Everyone’s overhead costs are different. Everyone’s abilities are different.
One person may have a 5% margin. Another may have a 75% margin.
Thanks I get it . I Will continue checking out your work .
“This gig”? CZcams? Or leather? With CZcams, I earn about $5 a day. Maybe. Do a video takes 30-50 hours to make. I try once a week to produce and post. So each video may make me $35 in a week? With leather? As a “gig”? That’s soooo complex. I was in banking for 19 years. Masters degree , etc. I quit and continued leather full time. Extrapolate what you will from That?
