i am jealous of that equipment.. cant tell ya how many summers in the 80's i spent swinging a 12 pound maul splitting wood my dad got with his chainsaw out of the forest with city permits for firewood gathering,
Hi Chris! I have to tell You this, something really crazy happened. We were talking about my little business with one of my best friend. Then he told me this: He has a aunt who is around 75 years old and she asks this. If we take care her forest, we can cut as much wood as we want. so we pick trees that are fall of the wind or wrong species. She wants to grow birch only, all other are free to go. Half on the trees we cut goes for her, half for us. Unbelievable! She has more than 500 acres of forest. All is for us. This is crazy! Next Saturday we start and we do this every Saturday from now on. If this goes fine, we can both quit our dayjob and do what we want. I had to tell You this, this is so crazy. Wow! Go Chris!
Thanks for the warning! I try to be careful so that we don´t have to do slave work. For now this seems to be ok, but I remember Your warning.@@jameschandler2776
I found a trailer receiver hitch clamped onto a tractor bucket works really well in moving trailers in tight spaces. I bought mine on Amazon. The biggest benefit is that your head doesn't need to be on a swivel to see where you're going.
No rest for the wicked, but that is a good thing. You process a lot of wood Chris. I used to love doing wood but since I hurt my back, it is grueling and not as much fun. I still like to when I can, but my wood is too big for me to handle without help. I just can't lift any longer. Love your videos. First thing I do every morning. That beech looks beautiful.
Hey Chris! Great video! I like the single wedge for resplits. Fewer pieces getting shaved than with the 4 way. Keep the great content coming! Take care!
Beauriful sunset. I have never seen a sunrise or a sunset on the horizon. Houses and trees as far as the eye can see. rotate the side your splitter is on between resplit days. This way you will not over work one sde of your abs, obliques and spinus erectus muscles. Looking forward to watching the oak get processed.
That's a great tip Ann Marie.... Years ago a dr. advised me to swing a baseball bat, golf club the opposite way just to stretch and build the weak side muscles, tendons, joints.. It sure helped me thru the years...
Watching you use the Eastonmade Ultra makes me “pine” for delivery of mine. First part of December is expected delv time for my new Ultra. Speed, durability and overall design help me decide. Enjoy your day at “beech”. Nice pcs of ash…
Love watching your videos, thanks for answering our questions. Someday would love to get an eastonmade ultra but for now need to invest in a professional chainsaw, using a stihl ms 250 which has been a good saw just a little slow at cutting.
Starting to get some good news after the accident got a load of hickory in today! By the time the ultra gets here who knows maybe I'll be fully back at it!
Just a thought. Might not be relevant as you look like you have a lot of space but if you get some old oil drums, fill them with dirt and stones, you could run some lengths of 2x4 vertically then run some horizontal rails between them. Screw your pallets to the horizontal rails. You could double or triple the height of your bays for a few lengths of 2x4 and some scrap oil drums
Once the Beech fully dries out...Will you have to throw it in with mixed hardwood to sell it or do you think there is enough people aware it is better then some species to sell it alone??? Green,Black or White...It is all good Ash!!🤠
Hey Chris, would you mind sharing whatever you can about the elevator you are using? Brand, length, height, model number, horsepower, etc. Appreciated if you have time, GNI!
When you sell wood to people who heat their homes with a wood stove do they like those small pieces of wood? I would want them larger so they don’t burn as fast. The smaller the pieces of wood the faster they burn.
27°F and 92% humidity here in Ashville Ohio this morning!!! Brrrrrrrr...... Leaves are a droppin and corn n beans are being harvested around the clock!! Trying to beat the weather!!

Same for me in the 70s!!!!!!
Morning Chris. Winter is on the way. Noticed your local temperature in the low 20’s. Great videos as usual. Have a great day👍
Yup, and 3" of snow too!

That sounds great but remember cutting on shares is not always good for the people doing the work.
It usually sucks for people doing the work. I did that for a farmer when I was much younger.

Thanks for the warning. I have to be careful with that. But at least for now we are happy with this deal. Yup we are little crazy @@InTheWoodyard

One of the neat things with CZcams is we get to learn something and get to see what is around other regions..😁👍
So true!
Home from work eating some leftover Halloween candy and a nice fire in the wood stove watching some wood get split, life is good

I found a trailer receiver hitch clamped onto a tractor bucket works really well in moving trailers in tight spaces. I bought mine on Amazon. The biggest benefit is that your head doesn't need to be on a swivel to see where you're going.
Yup, good idea, I have seen guys who have a removable ball too.
Good morning Chris and friends nice pile of beech. Keep on cutting
Thanks, I will!

Yup I understand, it is getting harder for me too, the wood keeps getting heavier!!
Hey Chris! Great video! I like the single wedge for resplits. Fewer pieces getting shaved than with the 4 way. Keep the great content coming! Take care!
It is great on the nasty knotty stuff!
G’morning Chris. Love the action that was demonstrated today. I saw the POOIINGGG of that split, lucky it didn’t hit the seeds !

Beauriful sunset. I have never seen a sunrise or a sunset on the horizon. Houses and trees as far as the eye can see.

@GregPrince-io1cb Switching up will also give the deltoid a rest from working the levers. Hip flexor and glute will also get a break.
Real nice wood. Didn’t know about the different kind of ash wood. Nice to know.
Thanks!
Get ready for the best wood show on you tube
Thanks!
I remember your old woodyard u did alot of stacking your saving time & your back now !
yup!!
Young black ash and young smooth bark hickory are for me pretty hard to tell apart. Got 5 acres of them all mixed together lol. Great video today!
You are correct, The tell is the inside when split!
Nice, good work day.
Thanks!!
Lots of firewood
Yup!
Beautiful sunset!
Thanks!!
Good morning, it's a beautiful day for some firewood here in Alberta! Hopefully y'all have some decent weather down there still
Morning! 21 degrees with 3" of fresh snow!
@InTheWoodyard ours is melting now, I believe our high today is mid to high 40s, maybe early 50s

Before snow flies,
Can you get in half a dozen triaxle loads of firewood poles?
I have 3 right now you will see them soon and yes I will get more logs.
The hardest working man on you tube.
Thanks for watching!
Did I see a HWM sticker? 🤷♂️. Still love the Ultra, looks like you may need to add a muffler deflector screw.
Yup, Gave slapped them on everything creating an eye sore everywhere! Yup, I have a screw loose.
@@InTheWoodyard kids these days.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors you should check the video I just put up of the sticker collection
@@BertsCustomCuts love it! A great addition to any Woodyard in my opinion. A little added flare.

Great day with the beech!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks, you too!
I hope Green Granny Smith😊
okay!
Cool
Thanks!
Busting bunches of beautiful beech before being bailed into the beech bin in the barn yard.
Yup, that did happen!
I'm sure someone has suggested this in the past...but have you considered using the loaded IBC totes as sides for your bins?
yup, lots, we might try something like that some day!
Starting to get some good news after the accident got a load of hickory in today! By the time the ultra gets here who knows maybe I'll be fully back at it!
Nice...get to healing faster!!

@@InTheWoodyard haha yeah it might be a bit precarious if you are at the top and get a wood landslide
Nice video Chris. Only thing that looked better than the Ultra single wedge re-splits was the sunset ending. Making your SD deer hunt this year? GNI
Thanks, yes i will leave in a couple hours!
Once the Beech fully dries out...Will you have to throw it in with mixed hardwood to sell it or do you think there is enough people aware it is better then some species to sell it alone???
Green,Black or White...It is all good Ash!!🤠
I will sell it separate to a person who heats with wood or smokes as a alternative to oak or hickory, basically burns the same.

Hey Chris, would you mind sharing whatever you can about the elevator you are using? Brand, length, height, model number, horsepower, etc. Appreciated if you have time, GNI!
It is an old LOYAL ...30' maybe? that is about all I know??? sorry!
How did you learn how to identify all the types of wood?
Years of trying, I am still learning every day, I just keep trying.
When you sell wood to people who heat their homes with a wood stove do they like those small pieces of wood? I would want them larger so they don’t burn as fast. The smaller the pieces of wood the faster they burn.
95% of the people I sell to do not heat with wood but I do have some bigger stuff for the ones that do.
Good Gracious what a beautiful sunset!! GNI
Thanks!
How do you like Them apples!!🇺🇸

Snow sells firewood!
Currently 16F and 100% humidity in west central Wisconsin.
Yup, cold here too!
Looking at the brute force 14 24 or 16 24 and the japa 405 with perfect split what I'm thinking with the japa no resplitting
Sounds good.
Looks like your black ash is basswood to us but what do we know 😂
it was ash, black ash.
Yall have a lot of black Ash in your area ? Does it burn the same as white ash??
No, not around here, there is more in northern Wisconsin. Yes it burns the same.
Doesn't black ash have a chocolate milk colored heart wood?
sometimes it does.
Hi. Million. Dollar. Man
Ha! That is funny right there Ralphy Baby!!
Son of beech.😂
Yup!
