    Good video. One thing about efficiencies (equipment to make work easier, systems for getting paid on time, etc) is that they make things more sustainable. Repeatability is profitability.
    Rapid growth can be a challenge to a sustainable workload. It's easy to get burnt out on too much at once. The real world is too hot and too rainy to play nice with numbers. Employees can be less reliable than a toro mower from home depot.
    The difference for efficiency/sustainability is that nobody ever got burnt out from taking a formerly hard job and making it easier, more profitable.
    You know that feeling when you check the clock and realise you got the whole property cut in 17 minutes including driving time. Or that feeling when you finish a leaf cleanup without ever picking up a rake. Having those systems in place I think is necessary to make the growth sustainable and avoid a burnout, so that increased revenue can be maintained.

    Great Video, so many good points, my take away is how important recurring revenue is, the big one time jobs are challenging and exciting but recurring revenue builds the business

    For myself, the most important factor to consider whether to invest in growing your business or making it more efficient is your true net profit. If your net profit is below 15%, focus on being efficient and getting your net profit to 15%. When you get there, you can feel more comfortable in growing revenue (which also grows expenses, esp labor in a service industry) without worrying about losing profitability in the short term.

    There are not really nice homes around where I live. I found a really nice neighborhood 13 miles away. Is that too far away?

      Sorry it’s so much later than when you asked this, I’m just rewatching older videos, but if you can have route density in that neighborhood it may be worth it. You just need to factor in drive time when figuring out your hourly rate!

    What if you only are making about a 10% margin. Then it’s not worth spending money on marketing unless your doing kore then 10x because it’s a wash.

    When I was in pressure washing it seem like marketing was 33% of my business. It was almost like having a third partner just to break even. We never even got close to making to her even as you say 10 times profit on marketing. Although I’m sure we were just doing it wrong
