    seeing the exacto blade thickness under the microscope really brings into perspective, the sheer scale of what you're working on. those components are absolutely diminutive af.

    I just want to say thank you for these videos and the content you make!! I enjoy watching these repair videos (even the long ones) and it's especially nostalgic to watch the ones for devices or consoles that I grew up with!! I appreciate you taking the time to show and explain how you do these repairs on video!! It's super cool!!

    Nice repair video as usual Steve!!
    Me personally, I would've used the hot air station to remove the chip and check the situation under the chip, seeing there was corrosion on the pin.

    I would have just removed the chip with hot air, cleaned the board well and then solder it back. I think you ended up doing a lot more work trying to do it "quick and dirty".
    Even so, you did a great job. And I love your videos. Keep going mate!

    you actually got the battery with yours, definitely try save it if you can since those are branded
    and something i was informed of, if you find a bare sp board with a white connector thats the ique variant, apparently it was part of the marketing for these that it was a fake or something like that if it had the normal black one, something they had to push in the marketing since the console itself doesnt care and runs whatever and its games also run on a normal unit. this was changed with the ds and the games no longer functioned on a normal; unit

  • @gamedad7336
    @gamedad7336 Před měsícem +4

    You tested the fix without a game in the gba and I've seen those lines come up without having a game in the slot. I think you may have made more work than was necessary.

  • @PoutingTrevor
    @PoutingTrevor Před měsícem +2

    Oof, you broke the coating off that replacement fuse. At least it worked, I guess. I also agree with comments that you should have removed the chip entirely. You've got the equipment and know-how. That's the kind of bodge I would have done!

    • @LozzTheDev
      @LozzTheDev Před měsícem

      I was debating in my mind whether it would been better to remove the ic, then fix the oxidised/ corroded pad. There is however always a risk of lifting pads or applying too much heat with the hot-air station and killing the ic?

    • @PoutingTrevor
      @PoutingTrevor Před měsícem

      @@LozzTheDev I see what you're saying. There is a danger there, although had the leg broken off that would have been far from ideal. Steve is very good at what he does though, so I was just a bit surprised that he didn't get more in the weeds with this one.

  • @thomasmasson3684
    @thomasmasson3684 Před měsícem +1

    Personally, at 7:24, I will have completely removed the chip itself and cleaned the underside of it before reassembling.
    It would have been simpler and would have avoided a probable broken leg given the rarity of the machine.
