If this video doesn't help you out with the flow issue, please comment below. TIP #1 - If you just vacuumed, something is clogged in the skimmer line.

Thabk you for this video. Saturday Morning, pool not working and a 3 year old left very sad. Could not get it to work for 30 minutes. Watched your video, had it running in 2 minutes. Thank you! Made my sons day 🤙🤙🤙

I have this same issue but I have a Hayward DE filter. I have broken down the filter close to 10 times, cleaning and inspecting everything, in the last two weeks with the same result. I've cleaned the flex tubes with degreaser and then with muriatic acid. It will run great for about 30 minutes then the pressure jumps to 20 and the return slows way down. When the pressure gets to 20, water starts pushing out at the clamp that holds the filter together. Once I bump it, it's fine again for another 30 minutes. I'm to the point where I think I might just have to buy a new filter because I don't know what else to do.
Btw, while waiting for the degreaser and muriatic acid soak, I ran the pump without the filter to keep the water circulating and the flow was fine. So, I don't think there's anything wrong with my pump.

Well. You did what we would do. And that is, bypassing the filter to see if there's any change in pressure. Could it be a bad pressure switch? Maybe.

Ok, I have an above ground pool... When I put my sand filter on 'Filter', the initial flow from the return jet is strong.. for about 10-15 minutes.... Then it's weak to almost nothing .. same thing happens after I backwash... Now when I set the sand filter to 'Recirculate', the return jets work just fine... Don't see any leak in the suction line.. this is confusing me a bit .

Change the Sand in the filter. Make sure to look carefully at the "stem" in the filter after you take the sand out.

Let me know if you find any issues with the stem/upright. If no cracks, at least let me know how it goes after the sand change.

I have a pool that has an old pump motor, and old filter sand system. After a few hours of it running strong, it then starts to barely blow any water out of the filter into the pool. I replaced the pump and the sand, after a few hours it does the same thing. I backwash, rinse and put it back to normal operation. It will work for a few hours and then barely have any circulation again. To note the motor never cuts off on the new pump, all skimmer baskets including the pump skimmer basket is clean and doesn’t have any leaks or air bubbles. I have a very slight leak from the multi valve port ring to lock it into place but I didn’t think that would be my issue. Anyone have any thoughts?

Try running the filter on RECIRC. It depends on the brand name of the filter. Let me know what happens to pressure.

@@VIPPoolsandSpas the pump and multivalve is Hayward brand. I replaced the sand with Clorox brand that says put 25lbs per 50lbs of regular sand. I will put it in recirculate and let you know. Thanks!
