I acknowledge you for being willing to try and guide through things people can easily get lost on!
Keep it going Joe! I appreciate you!
Thanks! My issue is I'm so close to the problem (I created these test tones) that I feel the need to explain in more detail than most people probably want/need. 😁
Sweet the pic of my HT made it to the video! I used the timing track over the weekend along with the impulse measurements from REW to dial in my system even more. This disc has helped tremendously!
Ohhh yeahhh!!! Good seeing you here and on Discord.
JoeNTell cares so much about people improving their enjoyment of their home audio system. Such a good man
🙏You're a good man for saying that.
This showed me the way and it changed my sound again for the better. I thought YPAO had nailed timing/distance but I was wrong.
A lot of small changes to a multi-channel system can start to add up. Glad you found it useful!
Thanks for the tutorial Joe. Appreciate all the hard work you and Channa put in. Can't wait to buy your magic beans app. Not buying Dirac Live for my new 3800 until i try out yours
I love your tests... they made me find a pretty major problem with my setup running through windows and it was only through your tests that I was able to identify and isolate the problem. (don't ask me what that problem was because I fixed it and moved on and can't remember now)
I got the toolkit a little over a month but have not applied it yet. I was rearranging my theater room and wanted to wait until I did that which I've done now. Also, the amp went out on my subwoofer a few months ago Which I've taken back to the store that I bought it from to have it repaired (Klipsch SPL 150, still under warranty) but it ain't no telling when I'll get it back but I do have a SVS pb 3000. Maybe I'll try it this week since watching this video have given me the incentive and when I get my subwoofer back, when ever that is, I'll just do it again. Thanks for the incentive and will be looking forward to more.
I hear you. Maybe just mess with it to get familiar with what it does. Take a look at the full guide and see if there's anything you want to test out.
I used the toolkit in my latest calibration. Good stuff.
🙌🙌🙌 I'm interested in knowing which tests you found useful.
These tutorials are so helpful with the disk. I started with the Audyssey calibration, then after physcially measuring saw the physical distances were different. The idea of auditory distance makes sense. I am learning so much from you guys. Thank you.
Glad to help!
@@joentell If I may ask, maybe I am doing something wrong, but after the calibrations I need to increase the volume on my Denon x3800 during Amtos movies. The dialog enhancer has helped though. The volume is near the reference point. During the toolkit, volume doesn't even need to go halfway for the dialog to sound clear and comfortable. I also have all of the dynamic equalizing stuff turned off.
Thanks Joe, you made that section of the test much better to understand! I will be doing another calibration. I try to maybe do a calibration every 4 months!
Glad I could help. Every 4 months, that's pretty cool. I usually redo mine once in awhile when I learn something new or if I want to test something out.
@@joentell I currently have NHT Atmos modules as my front and rear heights, and Polk TL1’s as my middle heights. I like how the Polk’s sound, so I’m considering replacing the NHT’s with the Polk’s. My front stage are also Polk speakers. I’m retired Joe, gives me something to do once in a while!

@@joentell No, I’m not in that group, much less even knew about it! Hell, I’m still learning. I watch and listen to you guys!
@@wendellwendellb339 Think about it like a group chat with others who have the Spatial Audio Calibration Toolkit. It's a place to ask specific questions about the calibration process.
This timing test is similar to the older MCAAC from Pioneer, really nice to have to check post calibration🤙🏽
Oh, cool. I've never used MCACC before, so I wouldn't have known if you didn't tell me. 🙏
@@joentell It played like a ticking sound back and forth between two speakers. It used the left speaker as reference and adjust the other speaker distance until the ticking sounded like in the middle.
Hey Joe. Love your contents and guides. Is there any plans to add some sort of phase alignment test to the tool kit or is there a way to use the existing section to do so?
I think phase would be tough to do unless it's a simple test of polarity with 180° in/out of phase tests like we do in the Polarity Test Track. Precise phase angle would likely require a measurement mic, but we do have impulse response tracks in the advanced section if anyone wants to use those with a mic and REW.
Is the user guide on the disc if not where can I see it? Thank you in advance. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Joe, my timing is aligned, what a difference, YPAO does suck!
I haven't tried the new YPAO, so I can say from experience. But, I hear you.
@@joentell It's a 10 yr old Yammy, hope the new ones are a lot better. Timing was all over the place. SACT is great, definitely gonna check out your Magic beans when released.
Keep the videos coming, tutorials are a must, helped me out big time.
Thanks Joe you are my sensei 😅, btw, rigth now I have a sony str-dh790, I'm looking for an upgrade with some Denon x1700, 2700 or S970 do you think I will notice the change? 5.1.2.. In fact to take advantage of the toolkit I think I need new recevier, let me know.. hello from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
I wish I had a definite answer for you, but I've never tried the Sony. I do like MultEQ-X on the Denons though
@@joentell no worries I noticed more flexibilty with Denon in fact due to MultEQ options, thanks for your videos
Would the spatial audio work with any speaker configuration? I have 7.4.4 configuration.
It can only access a single LFE channel, so it can’t send discrete signals to 4 subs. But it can handle up to a 9.1.6 setup sending direct signals to each channel.
Any plans to release this as an AppleTV app? I stream my Atmos content these days.
Hopefully one day. Stay Tuned! ;-)
Would you recommend doing this with a 2.1 channel nearfield set up? Sub is in corner of room
It can work for that also. It can help if you have a channel imbalance caused by placement, or to check to ensure you have a cohesive blend with your sub.
@@joentellI was always skeptical about how subs could ever be "quick" when the distance of it is further from me than the speakers. I've been chasing the synchrony for a while. I've always noticed the bass lagging. Dsp sounds like the solution!
@@DescartesRenegade Correct! The problem with most subs with DSP is they have an inherent delay. This is not an issue for home theater since that delay is accounted for. Most 2-channel systems don't have that capability. So yes, a MiniDSP product would do the trick.
Why won’t this disk work with Panasonic do-ub820 player ??
The disc will. The digital files won't.
Is this disc Multi region
Yes, multi region or region free
Awe... that sucks, I can't find the timing test (I'am assuming it's number 4 cause thats the files missing). I purchased a downloaded version and not the physical BR version, maybe thats why its missing.
All the tracks should be there. Check your email to ensure you have the latest version. Join the Discord group also. We can help you there.
