The most overlooked thing about Umbreon specifically in Platinum is how easily it trivializes Candice, or rather her Frosslass. Give it an Aspear Berry in case Blizzard freezes, immune to Psychic, resists Shadow Ball, and Faint Attack doesn't care about Double Team+Snow Cloak
Yes 100%, umbreon hard counters frosslass. It's great. I really like using umbreon tbh, it's just a shame it's movepool is awful in gen 4.
@@psyduckspice It's movepool is still awful in later gens too. The only thing that changed is starting in either gen 5 or 6, Foul Play was available for Umbreon, but also exclusively as a tutor move. Just stick to Toxic stall in game
Edit: Also, unrelated, but the whole Umbreon vs Candice thing comes from experience. There was one other major pokemon that made sure Umbreon could perform to it's fullest, and that was specifically Thick Fat Azumarill. 4x ice resist to repeatedly pivot and bait Shadow Ball
Hey least its slightly better in later gens, for example learning moonlight at Lv33 instead of Lv71! but yeah looking at it, its not much better. Huh, finding a use for thick fat azumarill, well done!
Seeing that Eevee can learn bite by level up, so immediately evolving to Umbreon lost you that move
I always get at least Bite on Eevee so it'd be another type move besides Quick Attack
Small chanells like this always have the greatest potential and I am here to support every one I stumble across. Alot of HCN uses the same Ideas over and over again making this genre of content pretty reptitive,hell even the people who spearheaded this genre are struggling to find unique ideas. This is the only unique nuzlocke I have seen in a while and playing with a ruleset like this one of the harder games takes some serious commitment and skill and I praise you for that I hope another 2 zeros gets added to your current sub count quick or atleast a sizable loyal audience
Thank you so much! Really kind of you too say. I think it's very easy to fall into the trap of just doing monolockes so Im trying with different ideas. I say that my next video is a monolocke, but I've still got loads of of different ideas so hopefully we one day do add two 0s to that sub count!
You were smart to do this in Platinum, because you have access to both HM's and Move Tutors according to your ruleset. Many of these attacks were pivotal to your win, so, nice job there!
Thanks! I think this run was a lot easier than I thought it would be due to HM'S, Move Tutors and EV's. Was still super fun though, I'll have to try it again at some point without EV's

Ah you noticed my subtle hints then! good question, I have a note pad and whenever I think of something that could be a cool idea I write it done so I dont forget. I think the ruleset for this video came from something Flygon HG suggested he might do if I remember correctly.

This is brilliant btw.
As painfill as it must have been for you with the random team member deaths from just rushing ect.
Its so much more relatable and makes the challenge run more entertaining for the audience.
So many Hardcore Nuzlockers spend far too long analysing every fight to ensure they make the whole run deathless. But the pain of losing some of your best team members to random trainers just cause you weren't paying full attention is what makes nuzlockes unique and its something we can all relate to. Which is what makes it seem so much more realistic and enjoyable.
That's before you factor in the crazy extra rules you applied which makes it even more entertaining and very impressive to win the run.
Considering many of us have wiped to Cynthia on runs without nuzlocke rulesets 😳

Thank you! I feel like its probably a lot more genuine to lose a random pokemon to not paying attention, even if I get why pro nuzlockers dont have it happen very often (they do do this for a living). I rarely even use a damage calculator tbh, unless its an important fight. I dont know how bigger youtubers have the patience to use it as often as they do. Thanks, the run was strangely easier than I thought it would be, mostly becaus I ev trained and Plat gives you so many good pokemon. Still a very fun and challenging run, glad you enjoyed it!!
I so agree with this comment. I feel like overanalysing and planning every turn turn by turn for hours ruins the suspense and fun of nuzlocking. Also just playing way too sweatily in general, they are funnest when played in a fun manner
It took me a minute to get the naming scheme. Tbh it's fitting because the additional rules makes this the Dark Souls of nuzlockes.

Really good video, but i find the music to be a bit loud relative to your voice. That makes it a bit difficult to follow along sometimes

Thank you! Yeah people did mention that, luckily I think I've fixed it for later videos. Oh, it's because I actually caught one on the route you get your starter on (forget the number) before remembering I'd already gotten my starter on that route and it shouldn't have counted as an encounter.
