    I'm 1/2 Korean and love eating this. When I was a child, my mother used to make it fresh all the time, as it was one of my favorite meals...along side Japchae. My mother passed away when I was 13 and I haven't had it fresh since then. I miss those days. I'm 38 now. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us all. I can't wait to make this.

    I just made this during the crazy coronavirus lockdowns, and it’s SUPER GOOD.
    I didn’t have chicken stock or corn starch so I just used the water from boiling the noodles (which was really starchy) and added chicken bouillon cubes to it.
    Tastes better than having it in a Korean restaurant and was super easy to make. Thank you!!!

    • @damblebee1253
      @damblebee1253 Před 4 lety

      @@gaijianalongmei6564 by soy paste you meant the chunjang (black bean paste)?
      If yes, then I believe to make Jjajangmyeon you can't substitute chunjang with anything, even with chinese fermented black bean, it's just taste differently than anything else.
      Gochujang (red pepper paste) can be substituted by mixing couple of other ingredients, but chunjang is really one of a kind
      You could buy the Jjajang powder (and mix it with water) on amazon, the common one is Ottogi brand

      You can make your own starch from potatoes. Requires only slightly overlooking potatoes, then jist strain it out and put the water in a container to let it separate from the MASSIVE ammount of starch. Pour out the water carefully and then take out the starch and let it dry or refrigerate as is. Boom, you have free starch.

This time I used cabbage and chicken (thigh meat) and I like it with the cabbage and chicken much better. I also threw in a little left over squid. It was delicious! damn671 I don't understand your logic behind marrying for money nor do I want to, I would take being with someone special to me and making things work over marrying some person I pretend to like for his wallet.. gross

      It's never good to try and raise someone up by putting someone else down. Especially a husband and wife! How insulting! Obviously they love each other and that's what matters most.

    It really is motivational to cook when you know there's someone who will eat them like it's the first time they tasted that dish :) #goals

    Made this friday. Everyone loved it!! The only differences is that we excluded the cabbage, used udon, ground beef and added sweet & sour sauce and hoisin sauce. We also didn't add the cornstarch water because me and my sister thought that the sauce was thick enough to our liking (kinda regret that now because halfway into eating it i was like hmm the sauce could be a bit thicker lol). But overall it as really good!!

    Made this for the first time today after wanting to try it for so long! Tried the instant versions of these noodles and was so disappointed so thought I'd give the real thing a go. This is so delicious. Lot of love from NZ. Love your videos 😊

    I make your recipe all the time and love it...in fact making it today! I do add zucchini and mushrooms, sometimes potato but no need with the meat and/or mushrooms. A friends mom adds jalapenos and hers is more savory, not sweet. I definitely like the sweet! You're the best!
