So you've basically just made the frame of a CNC out of (mostly) LEGO. From this, you can flip it upside down and replace the magnet with a motor and drill bit to complete that, or if you mount that whole assembly higher, you can add a platform that moves along the Z-axis to make a 3D printer.
I feel like the LEGO would melt if left near a hot end, though...

@@BrickMachines1 yes, if you do a corexy setup, I think the whole thing would be possible with pure lego parts. Instead of belts you could use chain links and a A/B motor setup similar to a Voron 3D printer. You wouldn't have to cross the belts this way.

The one thing I'm curious about is how the metal parts and the plastic parts interact. I have seen cases where metal parts end up destroying plastic parts. Doesn't make much difference if it's just something short lived like I suspect this is. But if you set this up to continuously run, it could end up failing faster than you expect.

But this one here has everything. Do you ever reveal the actual time spent building? Do you share your design thoughts and processes? 1:04 can someone make an edit of this where he pulls the rod out for at least 5 minutes? No added sound, just the scraaaaaaaaaaaaaape of the axle as it leaves the tube.
Edit: This is a pretty sketchy comment with no context. :P

watching the worm gears move always itches my brain, but the sand art was so much cooler, and the lights too?? you have made a very good sensory display 🤣

The part i thought was impressive was the fact that you made a lego sperator a regular seperator

Those drawing starting at 10:47 would make a really nice screensaver, if they still existed ^^'
Or some Windows Media Player visualizations (those who grew up in the 90's know what I'm talking about ! ^^)
Should try it with a smaller marble, though... Would take longer but would also allow more detailed drawings :D
Incredible job ! Still wondering how the idea came to you !

Same that the Lego motors are so loud, or this would be in my living room, drawing 24/7!

Yes, that'd be awesome! I bet there's a way to make them really quiet 👍

That is cool! Especially the piece separator and the mirror's back and the Lego rake 😂
Can you also program a random mode within the boundaries of the mirror? Or draw certain functions?

Can it run Gcode(used for CNC machines like 3d printers and milling machines)

Lol I'm so glad you liked that! Yes, that wouldn't be too difficult!

@@mcjavabelike8320Yes! There's a Python parser that takes G-code and enables the EV3 to use it correctly 👍

@@BrickMachines1 Maybe I should mention: The Lego 8094 was one of my first models. The steering mechanism was the first kind of programable device before mindstorm came around and it taught me A LOT about simple mechanics and the way a CNC works. I spend hours with it as a little boy 🤗🤗🤗👍 good old days!

Now, could you tell me step by step on how to build this so I can use it as a 3d printer?
