Stevie brought Jeff into the studio during the recording of "Talking Book". Jeff played on "Lookin’ for Another Pure Love" and Stevie gave Jeff "Superstition" as a thank you. The Motown people freaked out and demanded Stevie release it, they were right, but Jeff had a heavy rock version on the "Beck, Bogart, & Appice" album. Jeff always played an instrumental version of "Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers" that Stevie wrote.

Wow, Jeff added the perfect solo and never took a thing away from the rhythm of the song and played right back into the transition and even sprinkled in a couple more licks to "bring it home". What a pleasure to hear.

What a masterful collaboration of two greats. One of Stevie's greatest hits, propelled by his beautiful vocals, amped up by Jeff's perfect performance on the guitars, the horns absolutely matching the great rocking melody, Stevie's soulful keyboard, all mind blowing.
Great reaction Harri. 👍👍Thanks Harri and Dave. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Great collab to showcase, Dave. A note on Beck's technique and how he gets the unique tone on his guitar: Jeff stopped using a pick in the '80s in order to economize the use of his right hand. He produced a wide variety of sounds by using his thumb to pluck the guitar strings, his ring finger on the volume knob, and his little finger on the vibrato bar on his signature Fender Stratocaster. There is debate on who the greatest electric guitarist of all time is but Beck certainly was, next to Hendrix, the most imitated of all time. It is inconceivable to imagine Eddie Van Halen or Steve Vai without Beck's sonic inventiveness to inspire them. Thanks Dave & Harri. Oh, and one last thing, Beck's advice to young guitarists is: crank that amp to 11!

Jeff was in studio with Stevie and on a break. Jeff was noodling around on a drumkit (he didn't play) and Stevie walked in and told him to keep playing that beat. Stevie sat down behind his keyboard and started doing some funky improv, which is the basis of this song. When Jeff was gone, Stevie finished the song and played the drums on it, too.

When I was 10, my Uncle who was giving me guitar lessons, took me to see Jeff Beck at the Edmonton Coliseum during Klondike days around the same time 74-75. The next night my mom forced me to go with my 2 female cousins to see the Osmands. What difference in music even to my 10 yr old ears😊

Really coming around to the idea that Jeff beck is the best ever. A contemporary of Hendrix’s who was lucky enough to live a long time and offer so much creativity over the years. Jimi was incendiary but flamed out too soon. Ironically one of my favorite parts of the old docu called Jimi Hendrix, is the interview with beck on jimi’s arrival to the scene: one of bemused but disheartened despair: holy shit this guy just raised the bar. His actual quote, a highly sarcastic, “thank you!…!”

The only thing that I did not like about the music industry. Is that the artist or musician did not get credit for their contribution. Such as with this song. Jeff Beck should have gotten credit and royalties.
