    I'm 65 yrs. old, and, I'm glad to see Bonnie & Clyde make your list. As you mentioned, certainly, movies have only gotten more graphic since then, but, at that time,...I definitely remember having a pretty visceral reaction to the depiction of the bodies being butchered by the gunfire. I want to leave a movie impressed, and, Bonnie & Clyde definitely left a lasting impression.

    The Wild Bunch from 1969 directed by the great Sam Peckinpah. Just like Bonnie and Clyde from 1967, this Western film is super graphic when it comes to violence. The violence is not only gratuitous, but very stylish especially the cuts in between the slow motion deaths. It's got a great cast veteran actors most of whom are already dead if not all of them. And for all you gamers, this film was an obvious inspiration for Red Dead Redemption.

    I love how enthusiastically you explain a movie without giving away the plot or the details. Have you seen Bone Tomahawk? I have! I’ve earned a reputation for knowing good movies not just for girls, but guys. I earned this reputation from my first husband, a special operator in the military. on one particular trip, I recommended they take Quentin Tarantino’s true romance. At first they gave it a thumbs down based on the title, then they watched it. Hence, my reputation for picking good movies. And I used that credibility to get them to watch bone Tomahawk with me. Now you have to admit it’s very most of the way, correct? My sons are are adults and have served in the military. They were not happy with how long the movie was taking. And then that part started and they shut up. I still hold the title of the person who can choose the best movies for girls and guys.

Saves me from being stuck in Netflix limbo ,clicking my life away. Also we have the same taste in film, so I know when you make a recommendations, chances are I will like it. I am not sure if I will watch the Andes plane crash movie. It maybe a little too harrowing for me. I remember in grade 7, the book it was based on became like a cult book everybody had to read or be out of the loop. I think the book was called Alive, amazing stuff. Any ways keep up the good work, see ya at the movies.

  • @patrickmorrissey2271
    @patrickmorrissey2271 Před 2 měsíci +5

    Nice job.
    I thought Reptile was very good. Kinda slow as it goes along, but Del Toro's performance is really something. If you are a fan of Benicio Del Toro, this is absolutely a must see.... He is brilliant.
    Society of the Snow is probably not for everyone. I first heard of this many years ago, not long after it happened.... There is a book called "Alive" written by a survivor that is very good. There's an old movie they did, a lot like this one in a way.... Basically a story of what happened.... So this is a "re-telling" if you will, but it is very well done, and very well shot. I wasn't wild about the dub, to be honest.... It feels like a foreign film instantly. And I'm not sure if some of it gets "lost in translation" or whatever, but the whole first half of the movie is kinda flat, and it's impossible to tell, is this one of the main guys, is this an important moment.... Maybe that was me, knowing the story, and feeling like "is that him?" and "Is that the other guy?" at various times.... At times early on, I kinda wondered, if you didn't know the story, and you just sat down to watch this, would a lot of it be making sense??? I have no way of knowing....
    But it eventually does become clear, so, stay with this one... I do not know how you could not be inspired by this.... If this didn't really happen, no one would believe it.... I've often said, anyone who is in any way part of a search & rescue team NEEDS to see this movie, and read this book... I'm sure people are like "I don't wanna sit through that, ugh, it's depressing..." It is emotional, no doubt, but in the end, it is uplifting, and inspirational. Also, I daresay, you will have a newfound deep profound appreciation for the comfort we live in....

    Thanks for the interesting movie suggestions. Regarding diet/nutrition, I'd suggest you look into Dr. Ben Bikman of BYU or Dr. Anthony Chaffee.

    Society In The Snow was almost beautiful in its horror. Definitely worth watching. X is also great! I’ve watched it twice and I’m adding it to my classic horror inventory. It is visually stunning! It’s also fresh and nostalgic at the same time! 👍🏼👍🏼

    I liked American Assassin and Seraphim Falls. Watched them more than once. Vince Vaughn was great in Brawl! Reptile was ok, and I liked trying to figure out the Killer story. A nice line up that I can relate to.

    I loved Killer, seen it a lot of times! Society of the snow was great, what I really loved how it was so real and knowing the story and seeing Alive many times, this one showed after they were found too, they still faced horror because of press, the nurses and society felt about how they survived and what they looked like, so emaciated and ghost liked. I liked Reptile, just went on about 30 minutes too long for me. I will be watching your other suggestions, thanks!

    Thanks for another great list. Second time you have talked about “society of the snow” without mentioning it’s a remake. Have you never seen “Alive”?

      I thought he would've mentioned alive too. I remember I used to watch it as a kid with my dad, good times.

      When DV spoke of The Impossible as the greatest survival film, I thought of Alive. That film stayed with me for a long time. Always good for a rewatch.

      Not really a remake, but they are both about the same subject. He should have mentioned it though.

      @@jenewok so what's different? I don't see many alternate approaches to such an isolated incident with no new facts to present.

    I believe Society in the snow is a reimagining of the movie Alive a few years back. It is an amazing story

    • @button9
      @button9 Před 2 měsíci

      not really a reimagining if it's based off an actual story/event - it's just 'another telling'. This also did a much better job than Alive, which I watched a few months ago. Alive was fine but this was much better.

    Solid films as usual, especially "Brawl in Cell block 99", S. Craig Sahler. A great, talented & visceral director who I think isn't appreciated enough yet. Also loved " The Killer"...you just can't miss Fincher.👍
