The minute the Coronavirus started my dad and I both said "The Omega Man".
Stephanie Bristol Me and my son said the same thing!
Us too. Did you spot the 9-11 easter egg?
You dad taught you well
12 Monkeys and A Boy and His Dog are two other gems.
Spot on covid 19 germ warfare omega man the last man
The end of the world in the 1970s was so cool, you could zoom around on motorbikes with guns. The end of the world in 2020 really sucks you just sit around watching CZcams videos.
Best. Comment. Ever.
Fire stick & poppers to protect it too?!!
I really hoped for zombies. Now, it's just a farting dog. Thanks Corona
When you head to the Dollar store for toilet paper, make sure you wear your shades and mod safari jacket. What all stylish cool last men on earth wear
Brilliant
The last man on Earth has more friends than I was expecting.
Hm, I'd bet he himself was expecting even less, or maybe wasn't expecting anything, whatwith the end of everything already.
The last man on earth 20 minutes into the film er NVM 😅
bro 💀
The last man on earth has more friends than me
The Omega Man is one of the best Scifi/Action/Horror Classic Movie ever.
It was movies like this that made growing up in the '70s so wholesome.
50 years today! A classic!
"The last man on Earth always carries an automatic weapon." Because, even in the post-apocalypse, Charlton Heston has to exercise his second amendment rights.
Darn those rights! How dare an ethical claim to freedom of action stand in the way of power!
We do to😁
From his dead cold hand ? 😃
It was just a 9mm
Well, in his defense, there were those pesky infected people....
Charlton made many post apocalyptic thrillers back in the day.
Which touch the world today with the coronavirus plague
This scared me to death my dad took me to see What's up doc. The film before was the omega man. They always had 2 films. I was six years old and now see not so scary? Will try to be brave and watch 49 years later.
When guns were guns. The sound alone killed forget the bullets.
The Smith & Wesson 76 is one mean mother.
My house set up just like his. I even have a little fridge to keep my sausages in, just like him. Classic...
You got a bar with high end scotch? BAR in the corner?
We need another Charleton Heston
I'll take one for myself 😜
@@cheryldevine42 don't worry I'm working on a parody right now
Well they probably made one...the rich do love to clone!!!!
We really don't
He's one of my favorite actors who inspired me.
🎉 greetings from coastal Mississippi. I saw this in 1971 at the drive in theater. 50 yrs later....world wide pandemic....This movie is set in 1977 and is a time capsule of the past. Enjoy ....😂
I first saw this film on television as a kid. It was not until much later that I saw the unedited version. Didn't know there was nudity in it. This was one of my favorite movies from the seventies along with Planet of the Apes, Logan's Run and of course Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
I was born in 1970, same with me. Along with the Airport movies.
Yeah those were all pretty good. Throw in some Count Yorga, Blackula, Coffee, and I'm in on it..
I am Legend was literally based off of this film
You mean the 2 second shot of Lisa in the dark ? Hardly nudity .
I like the Andromeda Strain
What made this movie was the original sound track and the character development.
He’s trying to make the moves on Rosalind and these goddamn zombies 🧟♀️ 🧟♂️ are cramping his style.
"The last man on earth always carries......an automatic weapon!"
Merica!
Flamethrower
Charlton was one cool, bad assed dude!!
When I first saw this moviie and that Galaxie 500 got creamed, I damn near cried. I loved my first car. What was she? A '73 Ford Galaxie Soft Top with two doors and 351 Cleveland. Gah, I miss that car still today!
I saw this movie when I was 10 years old. It gave me nightmares for weeks and weeks. I got high and watched it last year and I just laughed and laughed and laughed
Really? Because the score had this heroes journey/western like feel to it that made it feel less scary.
One of the top movies around August 19, 1971. This was 4 years before what would become known as the Summer Movie Blockbuster season (Jaws).
mkl62 I remember seeing the TV ads August 1971 and feeling desperation to see it but was only 11
Love this movie.
When you walk into the market and there's no toilet paper
When there's one roll left...and it starts a riot!
Yamon it's not cool when you gota blow stool

@@m42037 not really.

Saw this movie and instantly loved it. Great action, epic hairstyles but very entertaining based on I am legend bookby Richard Matheson. Simply awesome 👍 ❤️
Yes Richard Matheson also did. I am Legend..
Stir of echoes plus The Legend of Hell House and many more horrors but my favourite Book Bid Time Return which was also turned into a film and changed to Somewhere in Time starring the late Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour which is now a Cult Classic and put The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan on the map , the movie is still being played to this day on a annual Somewhere in Time event , Richard Matheson also had a cameo roll in this film ...So different from his horror stories..
San Francisco hasnt changed at all.
That was downtown LA.
@Dylan O'Hara The movie was filmed in downtown Los Angeles. I'm not sure what you mean by New York City.
Heston is one of my favorite old time actors
Charlton Heston went to exodus to apes to freakin zombies coolest man ever lived
Me after the Coronavirus hits.
you beat me to it
Me after everybody has been changed into plastic dollies. 🔥🔥🎄🎄🎄😷😷😷😷
HAhahhahhhahhahhahhahahha
The virus .
Is a killer .
Corona zombie .
Loved this movie since I was 12, and still better than I am Legend
No doubt about it. My parents took all but my youngest brother and me to see this when I was fifteen. My impression from seeing it that first time is 'why is he grabbing a bottle 🍼 of beer 🍺 from the fridge?' when in later years I came to realize it was the serum.
Watch Soylent Green (1973) with Charlton Heston, it's another of his great movies. It's loosely based from the book Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison.
Peter Delarosa ....AMEN!!!!
@Bobby Brady Agreed!!!!
At least the marketing team of I am legend didn't reveal the fact he wasn't the last man on earth in the trailer though🤣
Charlton Heston is the MAN!
Classic Heston.
Man I loved this movie when I was a kid.
This is definitely a Family classic.
The most interesting man on earth doing everything with swagger, panache & command of his circumstances. Stay thirsty my friend.
*The last man on Earth always carries a spoon*
It's amazing how much this makes me think of coronavirus. That being said, while Charlton Heston was a diverse actor, there were two kinds of movies he could do really well: biblical epics (The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, The Greatest Story Ever Told) and post-apocalyptic sci-fi (Planet of the Apes, The Omega Man, Soylent Green)
that's because his acting method is, Intense line delivery.. the only way he could have been better is if he could fight like Chuck Norris 😁
This is completely realistic today except for the goons in halloween costumes
The Last Man by Mary Shelley fits more of what you are trying to describe, since that one is literally about pandemic, not vampires.
Don’t forget El Cid the Spanish Crusader from Spain
@@m42037 no yeah, they'd all be wearing clown masks and ranting about how we "live in a society" (even if that "society" is gone)
YOU gotta watch the last man on earth with Vincent Price
I really loved this movie, I miss the 60/70 sci-fi flicks!
@Bobby Brady i hated the Brady Bunch!
Set in a world where the creatures weakness is light but they all carry a personal torch
I was wondering about that. They are scared of light but all carry giant flame torches. I'm just a little confused.
Art imitates life
He's the ultimate post apocalyptic man. Charlton Heston was so hawt.
Nowhere in the movie do we see mr heston stocking up on toilet paper. Just sayin'. 🧻🧻🧻🧻
Look at all them newspapers blowing around he didn't need it
What do you think is in the boxes that he crashed into in the garage.
@@martykarr7058 Wow your right I can see the word charmin on the boxes!!
🤭🤣🤣🤣🤘
🤣🤣🤣😭🤣🤣🤣
Classic movie👍🏻
I remember watching this at the movie at the theater.
Cool story
Still waiting for the sequel, "The Rolex Man"...
or "The G-Shock Man"!
It hi hi
Or a cheap remake...'The Timex man'.
The Breitling man 😊
i think theres more to this movie than meets the eye
This looks badass and way before it's time!
April 3, 2020---It's because of these kinds of movies that I got back into modeling.....zombie/apocalypse dioramas of course.
Not really serious 😕😒.
Today is the 50th anniversary of Omega Man, August 1st, 1971.
Sounds like a really dope movie 🎥 anyone else 2020 -2021?
Really dope I suggest we invest in copper.
the coronavirus brought me here
Before I Am Legend, there was The Omega Man.
Not only did Anthony zerbe play the zombie leader- news anchor- he narrated the classic omega man trailer- “how does that grab you imperator”
Is this not
The place..
Where All the dead were burned..”
? I
Shakespearean LIKE a mother!
There were a couple of earlier movies, but this is what really kicked off the post apocalyptic genre in movies, 10 years before Mad Max.
Great minds think alike people 👍
We’re all thinking the same way.
Great movie.
An absolute MUST-HAVE movie in any Charlton Heston fan's collection...he's right up there with Moses and Ben Hur with this one = he literally saves ALL of mankind!
...there's some really good weapons play, too!!
Millennials who saw the ringing public phone in the trailer are likely saying "what's that"?.
Eight boomers liked this comment
Yes I remember making phone calls in a phone booth in the 80s but they had doors. These phones in the movie didn't come into Australia until much later.
@@Yui-zb8fm Yes phone booths were much more common back then. I once heard they phased them out because some fat people were getting stuck in them. However in the movie they had to use a non booth public pay phone because unlike a phone booth, if it really was ringing it would have been audible from the distance.
I'm a millennial and I've used pay phones hundreds of times. Or maybe thousands.
???
Many millennials are pushing 40. Not too late to have used pay phones lots.
First movie my stepmom took me to see, when I was 8 (I'd begged her to take me).
0:44 THERE IS NO PHONE RINGING DAMN IT!!!
I like that M76 he carries. Heston holds it like a pro .
S&W 76 and the MK 760 were basically clones of each other. Both are excellent subguns.
Heston knew his weapons
He was the president of the NRA
Don't forget that the handmade flashlight brackets. Chuck had his attachments before they were cool or practical.
I thought it was a swedish k?
Corona times needs more funky music like this. Bring back THE FUNK.
It's right here.
3:23 Guys got ninja reflexs almost lost a leg!
thanks Rotten for preserving the trailers, it brings the feel what previous generations felt
"The last man on Earth always carries.
... An automatic weapon"
I loved this flick when it first came out! Yeah, the fx and stuff suck by today's standards but was awesome in 71. I still appreciate this film.
ImTheDaveman ~ The fx suck by today's standards? Because they aren't CGI? In my view they look more realistic. Aside from that, the movie is more about the story than special effects.
Yeah but story and character usually were better, we relied on more plot and talent than just bright colors and booms.
This film was the best usage of Dodger Stadium, change my mind
Who could give thumbs down ? This movie is so cool !
Too bad that there's still not a DVD version that include the deleted scenes. I'm keep wishing to see when Lisa meet the family woman in the crypt with the dead newborn mutant...
Love this film...
Now, i don't News to watch the movie, because the Trailer told me everything about it 😂
The most spoiler trailer ever.
I would have been pissed 😤 If I saw this trailer before the movie.
Listen to that music. 😂
Soundtrack by Ron Grainer. Available on Amazon.
After the events of 9/11, this became one of my favorite sci-fi movies. Now with this Covid-19 pandemic happening, there's a chance that the post appocolypse could happen. In The Omega Man I really enjoyed the love scene between Heston & Cash, but I can't help feeling there's a whole lot more footage that's missing from the film besides the deleted scene!!
Not yet.
What a classic
Call me thus I my ring tone. Awesomeness.
Notice in the long shot at the beginning the wall covering the construction sites? Today it's the Downtown LA skyline.
Heston was in the best disaster movies ever like airport 75 and Omega Man was the best of all of them I saw this as a kid this is the original I Am Legend books first movie that Will Smith continued
If you're talking about Heston's disaster movies don't forget Earthquake!
Just watched The last man on earth with Vincent Price, which follows a similar setting as this movie.
At 1:44, Emperor Palpatine before his appearance in "Star Wars."
Heston carries a S&W m/76, a knock-off on the Swedish K (m/45b) SMG.
If it weren't for last man on earth there would've have been no omega man. Without omega man no i am legend.
I try to tell people that this is what "I AM LEGEND" was based on.
@
Sanford Willis:
Although this film is itself a remake of an earlier Vincent Price film _The Last Man on Earth_ [1964].
Omega Man is based on the 1954 novel "I Am Legend" written by Richard Matheson, as was the 1964 film "The Last Man On Earth" and the 2007 film "I Am Legend". All three films were based on I Am Legend not on each other. I highly recommend checking out either the novel or the graphic novel version, it is really good, better than all three films, though Matheson himself co-wrote the screenplay for "The Last Man On Earth" with Vincent Price, and that is the version that is the most true to his novel, and to this date still the best film adaptation of the novel, Vincent Price's voice alone makes that film the best. Though all three films are great in their own unique ways, as each brings something new and different to the original novel.
The COVID-19 virus brought back my memory of the omega man to me also!
Well also.
Even in the movies, Charleton Heston is strapped
For the last man on Earth 🌍 there seems to be a lot of humans crawling around
Give it a watch and you will understand.
Anyone else have this recommended for them?
LOVE this movie and i like I am LEGEND also but this original was the BEST
Nobody believed me when I said I am Legend was a remake of Omega Man!!
All three movies were based on the book I am Legend.
clothes always fit the car he drove.
Top 10 film 👍👍👍
Dam this will be me soon 😎
Starring Charlton Heston , Coronavirus ...
Remake of the Vincent Price movie
1:58 this guy did a guest spot on the incredible hulk tv show doing this exact same character ! biker dude
They dont make them like they used to...old cinema was the best..i wish i was alive in the 70s-80s
I love how the guy at 2:38 just throws himself out just because Charlton Heston wants to shoot some more.
seen this at the theater i was 8 years old
Thomas Robinson me too same age, cool flick but scared me back then.😳
@The Elder find more important things to do with your time pops.
Get it on!
The literally give away the entire movie plot in the commercial.
You'd be very surprised how they didn't
What better film that describes our current situation.
Our current situation is extremely boring compared to this. I wouldn’t mind a few zombies or vamps to shoot to be honest.
