Balthus: Able to spare Lysithea meaning his dialogue isn't contradictory
Yuri: Says he's gonna smack some sense into Ashe then kills him
Fairly certain recruitment is based on whether you recruit them earlier in the game. If you dont get them then, they cant be saved.
This is for units that appear on later maps of course, not all units will in a given route
@@lunk2569 not in those cases, I think. Those are Crimson Flower maps, and for those if you’ve recruited Lysithea/Ashe beforehand (like I had) then you just have them in your army already.
@@PineappleLiar i did ailell the valley of torment on golden deer. Ashe was on that map. I recruited him.
I should also mentuon a LOT of maps are reused in this game. This is likely one of them. I say likely because ive not done CF route, but do know this map.
Idk if this is all footage from 1 playthrough or not though so i cant confirm anything about this circumstance.
@@lunk2569 on crimson flower, ailell doesnt happen and ashe doesnt show up until the last map. the ashe and yuri dialouge does not happen on a crimson flower pt. if you recruited him before the timeskip on cf he will still be in your army post-timeskip. lysithea can be recruited on crimson flower even if you didnt recruit her in the academy phase. this is the footage that is shown here.

Hilda can't be recruited to BE. Thats why you don't get the option, because Hilda will stubbornly oppose the empire no matter who tries to change her mind.

It’s crazy how they tease us with the battle dialogue with Yuri and Ashe both here and in the DLC...yet they have no supports in sight.
seriously like why don't the ashen wolves at least have supports with all the units who appeared in the side story?? yuri not having support with linhardt and ashe is criminal

Yuri and Claude
Hapi and Lysithea
Balthus and Caspar
Only Constance got her supports right, imo.
The fact that the only ashen wolf with Golden deer supports is Balthus is really annoying.
I mean they also do the same thing with Constance and Edlegard as well yet I haven't seen people complain about that either but yeah i get the complaint.
I was mostly surprised when I found out that ashe doesn't have a support with yuri considering they were both raised under lonato

@@manassawinkaewmongkolsri649 just kept on using her for hours on end also I made her a Pegasus knight with a levin sword so that helped . Since she has a boon in flying and a good speed stat she’s actually pretty good .

That line is kinda supposed to be for people who recruited Ashe before the timeskip, because defeating him there will make him recruitable again.

After time skip only Lysithea Ashe and Dorothea are recruitable I believe. Yea would have been nice for yuri to spare Ashe
whether or not they're recruitable depends on route and who you recruited in academy. Ashe is only saveable if you recruited him before and Byleth is the one who kills him. if you fight Ferdinand on Myrrdin, then you can't spare him because that means you never recruited him.
@@Xxsorafan add Lorenz to the list on the Blue Lions route, he left my party after the time skip but was re-recruitable while Ferdie died on the same map.
@@Xxsorafan You're confusing Dorothea for Lorenz. Dorothea never joins you post-skip. And even with Ashe and Lorenz, it's only if you recruited them pre-skip. Lysithea is the only character can be freshly recruited post-skip.
@@didi1232001 byleth does not have to be the one to kill on re-recruitable war phase students to recruit them. so long as they were in your house pre-timeskip the option will appear on any difficulty for any of the students where a persuade option exists. i know this because i almost never have byleth go down the paths of lorenz or ashe yet always get the persuade option once i have finished them off.

Am I weird for thinking the dialogue between balthus and Lysithea is a bit funny? Like both Hilda and Lysithea are stubborn but Balthus kills Hilda but for Lysithea he’s like “ayyyye professor lets bring her to our side yeah?”

Clan abacate podre Yea, more or less. from what I understand much of the cut content from the game happened in the crimson flower route. Like originally Hilda could’ve been recruited for crimson flower but maybe they decided not to because every house “technically” has a retainer for the leader 🤷♂️
So hilda is lazy but suddenly will sacrifice her life for someone. In the GD before final boss, a mention of her not even consider doing that careless behavior. What is the word I am looking for.....
Also, Lysithea is seen as just a kid to him. He would hate to kill her

Balthus should be able to persuade Hilda, or at least not kill her. They were childhood friends and Holst will literally hunt him down if he were to even pull one strand of hair off of her.

And there's no surviving a Holst attack. Remember, Holst is the guy who barely lost a one on one with Nemesis while the Ten Elites were still alive and buffing him. Unless you are Nemesis, there's no beating Holst...

Oh god... I could NEVER pit Balthus against Hilda. Holst may bend the knee to the Empire after that battle, but he'll never forgive his best friend for killing his sister. What little chance Balthus has at living a life no longer having to run and hide from people who want him dead will be gone forever.

@@notwesley9180 well he actually does bend the knee. Edelgard's paralogue opens up after that mission and it's basically her going to Fodlan's Locket to defend against an Almyran incursion on his behalf because he got sick from eating a bad mushroom.

When I heard Ashe and Yuri’s dialogue I felt like Ashe sounded crazy
That was the point I think. Ashe ends up becoming exactly like Lord Lonato did even though he could have chosen a different path. It's sad really.

Or Balthus saying how Nemesis being the king of anything is a sham, while Balthus is the king of Grappling. Last one might be a bit too silly for such a serious fight tho

I am surprised that Yuri and Bernie do not have a unique battle dialogue with each other.
It's good to know that the Ashen Wolves never appear as enemies in the main game. Saves me the time to do a playthrough(s) without recruiting them.
I saw somewhere that there is code in the game's files for them to appear as enemy units on certain routes. I think Constance on all routes that go against the empire due to her ties with the empire. Balthus on CF with claude, hilda, and lysithea (which makes sense cause they are his supports aside from the ashen wolves), and I can't remember where it was said Hapi and Yuri appear. However, it seems the devs scrapped this because a player doesn't interact with these characters unless they bought the dlc and those who did buy the dlc would most likely recruit all of the units because they do not have skill requirements.

You just need to do the Cindered Shadows DLC to recruit them. It separate from the main game so don't worry about loosing anything. You just need to complete Chapters 3-6 and you can recruit them automatically in the main game by talking and requestingthey join, just make sure you recruit them before Part 2, otherwise they'll vanish after the timeskip.

Also note in the Blue Lions and the Black Eagles (CF route) Ashe won't leave your team even.
In CF, Ashe is on the final map.

Nshen60 nope you can only spare Lysithea in Crimson Flower the only way to “Spare” Characters like Ashe is by not killing them even tho they apparently get killed offscreen anyway much like Dimitri in VW.

The Balthus/Hilda dialogue hit me so hard when I heard it in game, and I still think about it all the time.

Me now: *Carefully moves through the battlefield slowly killing the odd couple of reinforcements as we go through until just Baron Ochs and the Warlocks remain*.
I did the exact same thing on my first time too, I was super over leveled though so I just murdered everything that attacked me

I honestly thought that the characters that were part of Cindered Shadows (Claude, Dimitri, Edelgard, etc.) would have a support with the Ashen Wolves. Turns out only some of them do like Hapi with Dimitri/Ashe and Balthus with Hilda/Claude, hmm.
Hapi also has supports with Linhardt.

The only problem I ever had with the DLC characters is their lack of integration. Their interactions with characters are VERY limited, even with characters that SHOULD interact with them a lot more. One thing that especially bothers me is that Anna has ZERO supports with anyone making her significantly worse than most other units.

I find it hard to believe they would give Yuri and Bernadetta a support, as well as unique dialogue when you have a meal with them... and then just choose not give them dialogue when they fight each other. I bet they just forgot
The only ones at the battle of Gronder to have unique dialogue are the lords, and Bernadetta only appears in that battle.

My bets are on a rigorous NG+++ cycle and some hardcore farming.

its funny af that whenever the ashen wolves fight there oponent thinks they have a chance but the wolves are so overleveled they oneshot whoever they fight
I really wish they could have reworked some of the enemy data in the part 2 chapters to make the Ashen Wolves appear if you don't recruit them. Like imagine having to fight both Balthus and Hilda at Derdriu in CF, and fighting Hapi on the Tailtean Plains.
Hapi will NOT defend the church. If anything, she should be an enemy in all the other routes.

They aren't, an Flame Emporor never appears after timeskip either. It's likely modded to always use timeskip portraits.

You can change your characters clothes and profile picture to look like their war phase while being in the academy phase and viceversa

Gonzalo Martin I know that, but the faces in the speaking boxes are war. If I remember right even if you change your outfit the face stays the same. Idk I’ll try it in a minute

@@constantgaming2275 The portraits doesn't change, only the moddels. Based on some of the Crazy stats and growths along with the portraits, I'd say that it's likely modded.

I do not know, but they have a support chain.
Their support seems to imply they were either childhood friends or at least acquaintances as nobles.

They were, until the Dagda and Brigid war of 1175, when House Nuvelle was fucked over by house Gerth, and house Aegir did nothing. It's part of the MANY reasons why Ferdinand hates his father.

I'm late but it's with New Game+. You can use the post timeskip designs in the academy phase with it.
