As an Australian who's been lucky enough to travel to America 9 times, road tripping the entire West Coast, LA across to Key West, and 10,000s of miles inland many times, including many of these towns/ cities mentioned here, i found Americans are the most hospitable people i have ever met, and made many friends there, i love em'. The housing market is out of control in Georgia. I have a feeling it's going to get bad for us young Georgians due to Californians, New Yorkers, and others over bidding on houses. I don't mind people moving here, but it becomes a problem when too many move at the same time.

To me it’s dirt cheap. I moved from Nevada specifically because houses are so inexpensive. Just bought a house in Americus for $89,000 ( approximately 2,000 square feet, .40 of an acre) that would have cost over $500,000 in Reno. And I make a little over $20,000 a year. So basically, I love this state. But you couldn’t pay me to live in Atlanta. I had to drive thru there to get to Albany ( where I originally moved to) and the traffic blew my mind. And I drive through the city on the 75 on a Monday around 10:00 am. It was the first time in my life that I was actually nervous driving.

After living in Riverdale/Jonesboro from '86 to '06, I can say everything listed about Forest Park, East point, and College Park is correct, and it spreads outward. After the school rezoning of East Point to Riverdale around 1991, crime went through the roof, property values tanked and white flight ensued. In the early to mid 80s Clayton county was a great place to live, young families and retirees, now Clayton county is an absolute shithole to be avoided.

I lived in GA for a few years, when I was employed with the State of Georgia Department of Labor. People there would assume I was rich, because of that. I remember my coworkers telling me how difficult it was for them to survive on their income, and would sometimes borrow money to get to work. Some lived in Warner Robins, because it was less expensive than Macon, but I paid 600.00 for a three bedroom apartment, which I could never do in other places. I lived in Augusta, also, and the quality of life appeared a little better, maybe because of the golf tournament, which brought in revenue and visitors every year. Overall, I lived comfortably, because of the cost of living, which is considerably lower than where I am living now, back in Michigan.

Majority of us Georgians joke about Atlanta not being part of our state for a reason. Majority of the people that live = in the metro area are from other parts of the country. Very few people in the Atlanta area and suburbs are actually from Georgia and the Living costs are becoming astronomical as a result. Look at places like Banks County which had less than 12,000 people living in the whole county 10 years ago now you can’t find a place to live there for less than $2000 a month. It has caused most of the locals to resent anyone who has moved there.

And, many of the communities that used to be on the "worst places to live in Atlanta" lists are now up and coming communities where gentrification has displaced the crime and pushed out those who can no longer afford to live there. Cabbage Town, for example, used to be one of those poor communities with high crime and poverty, and now you can hardly find any homes for less than $400k to buy.

Local tradesmen can't find work there because the builders and contractors prefer to use illegal aliens since they'll work for low wages. If you have nothing to do and need to burn 4 hours, drive the traffic circle around Atlanta, just once, and you will burn your 4 hours away. Atlanta's traffic is enough to weep over. Do you wish to be knifed and robbed? Then walk around Atlanta for 1 hour after sunset, and you will have your wish granted.

I lived in South Ga for a time. A lot of people would tell me " I ain't never been out of Georgia, but I have been to Atlanta once".

@@AceStephens U pretty much right Ace! I'm back in far southwest Georgia again now at Lake Seminole. I can go away for any amount of time and leave the house open and not worry about it. Not many places you can do that in the whole country anymore!

I lived in the middle of the hood in East Point on Washington RD when I was in college at GA State and I never had any issues as I stayed in my own business moved down a few edits down 285 to college park and again never had issues.

As a lifelong resident of Georgia, on the southside of Atlanta, your video is spot on! One thing worth mentioning are the post-secondary technical schools in Georgia are downright awful! Not to mention few technical jobs are available south of I-20, unless you count the airport, which is so poorly ran. The only good parts to Georgia is north of Atlanta. Which is becoming so overcrowded by retirees and smug hipsters. It's sad to see a state that I used to love turning into such a cesspool.

Statesboro is my hometown and our current mayor has worked some miracles revitalizing areas that sorely needed it.
Atlanta is NOT the be all and end all of the state and people need to stop thinking that it is.

For God's sake don't move to Georgia we are FULL up. Go away try Mississippi or South Carolina. People come from left coast and bring their dingy attitudes with them. Instrad of blending in they want to make it like fouled nest they left.
