Especially when NECA's Mothra isn't much different in scale and has more detail and better QC in comparison, added to the fact that it's only $25 and more accessible around retailers. Rodan I'd probably buy alone for around $40 or so bucks, but I just don't see how bandai thought this set was going to be worth it. They could have at least thrown in the larva or some other extra accessories like buildings and flames to distinguish it from NECA's variant that has the rad cocoon base
@@kiryu63 that's not what they're talking about. They're talking about this specific Mothra model. Bandai knew that due to how inaccurate it was along with how much lower the quality was than Neca's mothra that it would never sell so they threw it in with Rodan.
I feel 85 would be a better price for the set, 55 for rodan and 30 for mothra, but two pack and exclusive, so what can we really do unless paypal was used... just saying is all

Sure Mothra could've been better, but consider they used a early CGI model with coloration (which she do have the color orange and brown, but was blended later with shades of a little grey), concept art and designs, statues, Jakks Pacific, Movie Monster series and the NECA that is too grey, there's no winning here. At the end of the day, everyone has their own opinion. This Mothra isn't the greatest, buy could've been worse, consider the NECA Mothra that even is cheaper, longer wings and has a cocoon, has been bunked because of some copy have her wings broken and too loose, she too has flaws that hurt fans and was hammered down when NECA, at few weeks before her released you stated, didn't include a larva. It was fixed, but it was too late and the damage was done. At least they do have info of these SHMA figures that are in the SHMA website that tells if there's accesories or not. And the reason why SHMA didn't include more accesories, which I commented in their preview of King Ghidorah video on their CZcams channel, will sound dumb but true. This is what they stated: "The reason we don't ad accesories is to keep cost down to our customers". Now, you may be saying the truth that it's just nonsence or dumb, but hear me out. Bandai's figures and such like Dragon Ball Z and Marvel are awesome cost much, but their size has differences. SHMA however are a bit bigger with some smaller, but adding more accesories to add more action cost more, and some of their figures use so much plastic, detail and colors that it's time consuming. While their later version like a repaint is better, but can cost more if they add tighter grip or accesories. It's also an issue outside Japan because they're the main focus audience like NECA are your main Target, and it can cost more if the company like the US includes shipping. So they do try to drop the price down, but the result would lead to less accesories. Before you can ad him, Burning Godzilla 2019 doesn't have effect parts, but it is using trans-pvc and more coloration that lead to cost more. Sorry if I rant, just needed to let that one out. Kinda feel like $105 is a little steep for two smaller and not crazily painted figures. Rodan especially has fantastic sculpt and even though I don’t care that they skipped out on the fiery highlights I mean for the price they charge there should probably be a little more going on with the paint. Maybe accessories would help justify the price, since the NECA figures have more paint and accessories but they’re $25 a piece

The wings on my Rodan were also tight, but I was able to loosen them up. The big issue with mine is that the head pops off of the ball joint quite easily. Whenever I move it, I have to press down on the head with one finger and press on the neck with another finger to keep it from popping off.
I really hope they give us another military effect set. Have it come with a squadron of fighter jets, and the Argo perhaps. It would be awesome to display Rodan with his talons extended trying to grab it!
someone I knew bought this and Mothras wings were gone both of them. Not even in the package, it was just gone. Rodan was missing one wing and had no head. They asked for a refund but apparently they won’t give her money back since it’s broken. Wtf
I actually find mothra to be quite nice addition in comparison to rodan bland paint job. She’s posable, light, sturdy wings aren’t defective like Neca and lose. I think you just got a thing against moths.

When I get a figuarts, its because I want the best that the figure can be and it looks just a lot better than other brands and thanks to this review it seems to me I could go Neca and still be delighted with them.Thanks for saving me money. Tbh ever since I heard that Shma and Neca were gonna do a Mothra 2019 figure..I thought that all the joints in her legs and claws would be movable..that would've been waaaay better than it to be just ball jointed at the base..but unpopular opinion, I actually like the Shma Mothra..despite it's small size its even more articulated than I thought and i like that the wings are ball jointed so that u can pose her in different positions unlike NECA..dont get me wrong I like the NECA Mothra too, but for me the Shma one is a tad bit better..

The models they gave bandai back then for the movie are the ones we see here, also not the final product. Also note Bandai was kinda rushed with these realeases on time for the event inwhich they were revealed

People love to trash down Mothra. She is infact accurate on her wings. I did see the movie a million times. The eyespots are correct on the MonsterArts. To be honest, I do want them both. Sure the orange is questionable for her body, but it is an easy fix. I am getting them this week, and make a defense video for Mothra. I do think this is more accurate to the film in terms of wings than what NECA did (because that's a concept art). Mothra has no accurate figures for 2019, except for the Gashapon which I highly recommend picking up because at least the body is brown, and a white head. NECA is too gray (which isn't accurate), and SHMA is more like a flan liquid. Yes I just said it. There is potential for a bioluminescence version of her from Bandai and Tamashii, that I PROMISE YOU!!!!!!! It will be better. I'm seeing you and everyone trashing a lot of Mothra 2019 figures, probably because they couldn't handle the new design. The SHMA to be honest at least tried their best. Yes, I do defend the SHMA Mothra 2019. I don't think it's that bad. Sure, it has flaws. At least it looks better than Shin and SCV Mothra 1992...just saying... No, there is no credit "where it's due." They either did it or not. Mothra isn't accurate - there's a near continuous blue glow on her wings, which you'dve noticed if you've watched it as often as you have - and she has plenty of QC issues, and Rodan isn't accurate. Assuming the average person makes $10/hour, ask yourself this; is this set worth ~10 hours worth of labor, missing out on gas and food to pay for this? 1/4 of the work week and *this* is what you get? Money is absolutely an object.

Really doubting your claim that you've allegedly "see the movie a million times". Any person who did should pick up on these details immediately. Or maybe...... you're selectively ignoring such details on the movie design to support your argument that SHM Mothra is an amazing figure. And on the topic of customisation/fixes: YOU SHOULDN'T NEED TO FIX A FIGURE THAT'S $105+. That's just blatantly excusing laziness and poor quality. SHM did not try their best, they could've done a lot better. Hell, even a gashapon figure managed to do the white face and black mandibles correctly, there's absolutely no reason and no excuse SHM couldn't have done that as well.

I got mine. Rodan alone is awesome. I had money to splurge. Mothra is not exactly garbage imo, because it has more articulation. $100 definitely too much for these figures. But Rodan is very very good. I have no paint issues or stuck joints with either of these.
Got mine today and rodans left wing makes a bad sound so im now too worried to pose him. Mothra is mothra. One warning to anyone is avoid Gundam star. They are a fake website where they show products for less then the original retail price. I saw these 2 for $94 and pre-ordered around August. December rolled around and nothing. I did some research and learned that they are a fake site. Went to BBTS and got it for the real price. Was it worth the price? Yes and no. I am glad I have them for my collection but I do agree that they should have had more for the price tag. Maybe some planes or the big plane. Maybe an egg or something. The fact that mothra is just one piece with wings kinda annoys me but oh well it's on me for not looking more into it.

Despite the hot ember look not present on Rodan’s wings this version is easily better than Neca’s, and Neca’s Mothera is easily better than S.H. arts, so S.H. must be saying Rodan is more appealing than Mothera therefore we want you to drop $100 on Rodan and we’ll throw in some crappy looking bug🥴

I got mine. Rodan alone is awesome. I had money to splurge. Mothra is not exactly garbage imo, because it has more articulation. $100 definitely too much for these figures. But Rodan is very very good. I have no paint issues or stuck joints with either of these.

Got mine today and rodans left wing makes a bad sound so im now too worried to pose him. Mothra is mothra. One warning to anyone is avoid Gundam star. They are a fake website where they show products for less then the original retail price. I saw these 2 for $94 and pre-ordered around August. December rolled around and nothing. I did some research and learned that they are a fake site. Went to BBTS and got it for the real price. Was it worth the price? Yes and no. I am glad I have them for my collection but I do agree that they should have had more for the price tag. Maybe some planes or the big plane. Maybe an egg or something. The fact that mothra is just one piece with wings kinda annoys me but oh well it's on me for not looking more into it.
Is it a ticking sound? As if it was ratcheted?
@@lautaroasis60 yes and no. It doesn't have a consistent sound that it makes. It Is a worrying sound that usually means the wing locks up.

Sh monster art hase more articculation the look at rodan would be better without the molten magma it means rodan is friendlly from the end in king of the monsters rodan

I believe the color of Mothra’s CG model is that orange color. However the face should be white.
I'm sure of it too. And the wings are definitely accurate. Everyone is being wrong. It is accurate, I did check the movie a million times.

@@SPGojiFan I lowkey feel like people were a bit harsh on Mothra(Sh). Like its fixable, just paint her face(even the eyes) white and then repaint the eyes blue afterwards. Mines are arriving on Dec 23 at 8:00 pm thankfully.

Did it say it comes from China? Also it might be bootleg because I seen some on Ebay and when I see the box some of the features in front of the box are missing. But hey it's cheap so good for you I guess.
