Gordon is simply an incredible training partner; Intentionally exposing himself enough to encourage his partner to develop attacks, and then defending with a mirrored amount of intensity and strength. This challenges his partner at a level that is exactly equal to his partner’s ability. Gordon ends up in better positions because he is mentally/technically working out the problems faster than his partner. Each time Gordon establishes a dominant position, he repeats the intentional exposure. Gordon benefits too because he is working the technical solutions to each position in real-time -lessons he can utilize later when facing more equal opponents. It’s just very rare to see someone who is this adept at getting AND giving the most out of a roll with any ability-level partner. This says as much or more about his true skill than any competition win.
Only person that has ever trained like this that I’ve ran into/rolled with is Kron
Replace Gordon with Coach and this is what any caring individual / artist does.

You do know he just dyes his beard and hair right?

@@BezmenovWasRightNot sure, but he is correct it is hair dye
9:16 may have been the single most suspect move I've seen performed in BJJ
I thought he was gonna try to enter Jon Thomas matrix to expose the back.
But Gordon stood up so fast it turned into a reverse full guard.
Then he swept him with a bear hug on his lower legs.
That small man (compared to Gordon) is incredibly skilled.
I can't stop laughing at this.
Gordon playing with his food.
Thanks for giving us Gordon’s training sessions! Keep them coming.
9:20 WTF is that Position!!!
Women in gym stole your testosteron and efficiency
Those throw bys to foot sweeps were excellent.
9:18 bjj is just different when Gordon does it
9:22 will be called "The totem pole" or " The low 69"
That is Abe . He is great at reverse closed guard
3:10 I laughed so hard here. Every inch of this throwby and foot sweep was perfection. When Gordon locked up that undehook I knew he was no longer playing around. Long live the goat
Gordon santa coming through with gifts of knowledge
9:19 For some reason every time I do a private lesson, this is the position he wants to start in. And instead of helping me learn to escape, he says stuff like "Yeah. That's right. Take it." I don't know. I'm wondering if there's a better way to spend $1,000 a month...
Worth every penny 😂
the rear body defense gordon is showing in this is absolutely nutty
That footsweep at 3:10 was quite impressive
you spelled very wrong
He did it to gsp once
That was so clean, he did it again at 6:40 and at 7:25
Gordon is looking dangerously close to becoming an IRL Hoarah Loux
Maybe he should take the beast regent serosh onto his back to quell his social media tirades
Making everyone look Maidenless
rest of the competition better get their vigor up!
He's on steroids
Gordon needs to do some glute ham curls and hip thrusts. His legs lookin frail and injury prone
9:10 - 9:25 gordon outsmarted his opponent with this 4D chess move
😂😅 Craig jones said it best our sport is already gay as it is lol
bro hit him with that 69 sweep
Gf came in at 09:19 - had a hard time explaining what I was watching
Goddamn 😂
The reverse sumi gaeshi move he did was insane.
9:19 timestamp for the move

9:20 WTF is that Position!!!
3:10 that was beautiful
Hell yea I would love to know the name of that trip 😅
@@makaveli2778 throw by mixed with a foot sweep from what I saw
de ashi barai@@makaveli2778
That was about 12-0 to Gordon and his opponent did about 10 times better than most of us mortals could do
Watching Gordon Ryan train will make us all better jiu-jitsu practitioners.😊
I'm going to watch this is video everyday before class. Incredible!
I love how Gordon looks very stiff but moves very fluidly between positions. His knowledge of every position is probably second to only Danaher because it seems like he's never caught off guard.
Gordon showed some beautiful Judo style takedowns here.
3:08 good lord
Sat him right down eh
Incredible grappler, just insane
Gordon's clinch work is very judo-esque
I think it’s a great base for a bjj athlete.
Overall wrestling is amazing but if something is done a little wrong there is a lot of submission risk.
Headlocks, Kimura traps etc.
@@HenchPig I think cream of the crop grapplers like Gordon fully incorporate all the styles at this point. It's like wrestle-Judo-catch-Jitsu at this point.
Those foots sweeps were beautiful 😊
Damn! Two big boys going at it for 10 minutes straight. That is some serious energy system right there. Is it me or with the hair, doesn't Gordon Ryan look like a disco Raggedy Andy doll :)
That second rear body lock takedown trip pissed gordon off lol he got up and foot sweeped dude hard as fuck.
That foot sweep was so clean
Just how good do you have to be to even train with gordon? That’s a lot of trust and responsibility.
Tbh when I roll with high level guys I get dominated but I never get injured. Gordon seems like he let's you work a bit etc.
@@MrMrbrianbechteli think he means risk of injury to Gordon from a low level guy spazzing
@@RAJ-zo8cuhe isn’t messing with that, and if there is spazz that rolled with them he would end that pretty quick
Gordon seems uniquely strong in certain positions. People try to single leg him and by simply planting his foot, removes the single. If they hit a double, he just grabs a body lock and rolls to a top position. Even his foot sweeps seem to be perfectly timed or immensely forceful to take the carpet from under people the way he does. Very cool stuff.
leverage and timing
9:22 Hold up 😳😳😳
Gordon is such a great training partner.
It really looks like a cat playing with its food
That Secret Jiu Jitsu Club gear Abe has is 🔥🔥🔥🤐
3:48-3:55 beautiful
9:18 is this the pinnacle of Jiu Jitsu?
😂😂😂
Gordon got that stranded on a small island for a prolonged period of time haircut
Gordan plays with these world class grapplers like there baby’s 😂
As much as I like seeing Gordon, watching Helena put in live work was dope.
3:09 and 6:39 woah
Bro how strong is Ryan the dude was shooting and Ryan didn’t even sprawl the dude just bounced off.
I don't know is about the details of his defence but i think if he was fresh it wouldn't be easy to to that. He shot but couldn't drive through cz he was exhausted
@@tharushafernando6688 he did look exhausted
That rear body 🔒 defense throughout this was insane. Does he have instructionals on that?
Jflo has one on it and its defense and offense. changed my game in that position. I counter people all the time now. Far as when it hits the mat and they have it, headswim, switch, or granby roll out
In short, overhook, pressure the head and lastly change direction with your hip. You can do different things for different scenarios
@@bananaman9552
Are you talking about the whizzer from half guard to stop them from talking the back?
Also granby roll when they take* a body lock from dog fight?
seeing danaher in these videos is like seeing yoda training his jedis
9:22 is my favourite frame
That was a nasty sweep
Dude.. I would never ever do what he did at 9:20.
Trusting someone to not make you quadriplegic.
Protect your necks when rolling, people! It is not worth it
Great to watch 🙏 thank You
Good to se Gordon graple again
Aberhamn looking good Gordon just a dawg 😂❤️❤️
Holy moly, them instructional must be paying off. Tig ole
The foot sweep and pass at 3:09 - 3:17 !🔥🤌
09:19 giggled just a little
Nice on Mo in the background having a ‘hard’ roll with Nat
I feel like foot sweeps are so hard to learn. I want to do them but there’s invisible weight distribution stuff going on that I can’t pick up.
Read "Modern Judo". You'll get it from there.
Helps when your opponent is exhausted like in this
there are two kinds of footsweeps: harai and gari. The first takes out the post right as the weight is shifting onto it, and is a true "sweep". The second loads up all the weight onto a post, and then reaps that post away like a scythe cutting grass. The first tends to be a surprise and a timing based move, the second tends to be a control and leverage based move.

Muay Thai guy here. Definitely take what Judo individuals say seriously, but Muay Thai has phenomenal sweeps/dumps/trips, including foot sweeps. From a Muay Thai perspective, 95% of sweeps will have 3 characteristics: (1) Push (2) Pull (3) Bridge. Try analyzing sweeps from that perspective. Over time, they become more natural.
For example, lets say I have a single collar tie with my left arm and inside control with my right. I would PULL with left arm, almost like you are performing a bent-over-row exercise. At the same time, I am pushing with the right arm. This forces the person to turn. As they lose their balance, they are PULLED by the left collar tie toward you. Sometimes that is enough to sweep them. However, for safe measure that is when we add the BRIDGE. Which is the leg that bridges out and performs the foot sweep.
It gets complicated, but push, pull, bridge is the gist.
9:20 is how you end up paralyzed!
The middle school wrestling on display here is outstanding.
Ah I’m sure you do better, go try at the next adcc trials
Do they normally train in silence? This is like grappling ASMR
Film him in the gi if possible!
Masterful💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
How many points did Gordon score in this fight? according to ibjjf
A lot
His de Ashi Barai is looking slick
the reverse stevie buscemi was crazy
GOT. DAYUM.

Hope Gordon can figure out his health, rib injury aside, and give us some sweet performances this next year because that will be a sweet Christmas present 😁

Wait is that Jedi in the background? @1:20
Gordon went for the dog haircut.
Why this guy doesn't fight aginst Felipe Preguica again? In the last match between them, Preguiça was in the mournig.
Does he always roll with people 50-100 lbs less than him for a reason?
Well, light weights do have more endurance
When I get close to a comp, a week or two out, I only go live with people my size or smaller. Reason being I can go harder for longer, build confidence in my game and minimize my chances of injuries. All it takes is one hard round with a bigger training partner and you can either get something tweaked that could force you to miss training or the comp altogether, or gas you out to the point that the rest of your live rounds will suffer. Those harder, "shark tank" type of training sessions should be reserved for earlier in the camp, imo obviously. Well that was a long winded answer, but it's either that, or it's just easier for him to highlight reel smaller guys for the cameras. Got to be a showman.
Less chance of injury before competition
@@odinzraider591 Thank you! I was legitimately wondering, and I was worried people would just assume I was trying to be a hater or talk shit. Really appreciate your response! You too raf and joaol!!
@@JamesBaylockJr of course, brother. I could tell it was a legit question. Have a great one!
Nothing but respect for the way these guys train. Not trying to kill each other at all . Not even really going for subs . Catch and release , give and take . That’s the best way to train
Who is the old man?
