    So Leonard had the ring for two years. That would be from season 5, in which Howard and Bernadette got married and Leonard blurted a proposal. To me, that's a tie in, and Penny would beat him if she finds out he had a ring while blurted a proposal

    • @dboslice
      @dboslice Před 7 měsíci

      Yeah he got the ring, when he fantasized about them getting back together, did that Beta test, and then he proposed during sex, and was going to give her the ring then.

    Yeah I was one of those people who commented on not liking Penny and Leonard's relationship. I explained why in previous episodes, so I won't go down that road again. However, I do give them credit, being an opposite couple. They both see something in each other and every since they became a couple in the 3rd season, they touched on the fact that, they have this weird on again, off again relationship, stating that they're clearly not happy but they can't be away from each other and can't stand it to see them with other people. I guess that counts for something 😅😅. Me personally, it's not worth the toxicity 💯

    I thought they handled the proposal very well, who needs some dumb pseudo-romantic gestures. It is interesting that you commented how it was sad that Emily felt she had to go out with that guy who did her tatoos, but I think these sort of over-romantic gestures fall into the same category. You should be to decide whether you want to get married with clear head and not be influenced by some gesture that puts preassure on you to accept and makes you feel like you you would disappoint the partner terribly if you refused. Much better to talk it over calmly and decide together if it's the best step.
    Just my opinion of course, and I know Americans are usually presented as expecting these sort of grandiouse gestures, but I have no idea how much of that is reality and how much is just Holywood. Either way, I think it is very valuable when mainstream media present an alternative as it obvisously influneces what people see as normal.

      @@b.d.j.2818 Emily said that she agreed to go out with the guy who was bothering her "just to get it over with", but she shouldn't have had to do that. The guy should have accepted her answer when he asked her out and she said no. But the show doesn't seem to recognize that, it treats the whole thing as reasonable, which is not a great message.

    • @magnuskarlsson8655
      @magnuskarlsson8655 Před 7 měsíci +4

      Emily consented to go on a date with him. She could have said no but didn't. Women have to take accountability for their own choices, anything less is infantilizing. It's more realistic that she actually wanted to go on a date with him and only told Raj that she felt like she had to in order to not cause unnecessary damage to their relationship.

    • @robynjoffe1494
      @robynjoffe1494 Před 7 měsíci +5

      @@magnuskarlsson8655 coerced consent is not actually consent. Thank you for proving my point that normalizing that behavior sends a dangerous message. There's nothing in the narrative to suggest that she actually wanted to go.

    • @magnuskarlsson8655
      @magnuskarlsson8655 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@robynjoffe1494 She's the one normalizing it by consenting to it. No one is coercing her. A person hoping or expecting is not coercion unless it is done in a threatening or physically violent way.
      Men - or women for that matter - can't read minds, especially if they are autistic. Again, stop infantilizing women and respect peoples choices, which includes their mistakes, or choices that you don't agree with.
      The only dangerous message here is that women - or men for that matter - have to go along with things they're not comfortable with because they don't feel like their consent is going to be respected or because they don't want to disappoint the person in question. And the only way to cure that fear is to learn how to say "no" in a respectful way instead of consenting and then blaming him for the fact that you consented.
      If she would have told him "no", instead of violating her own desire, nothing would have happened other than disappointing him. She didn't want to do that, and that's on her, not him.

    • @robynjoffe1494
      @robynjoffe1494 Před 7 měsíci +4

      @magnuskarlsson8655 I'm not infantilizing anyone. She said the guy had been asking her out for *months* so presumably she *did* say no to him-- several times. Should she have continued to say no? Yes, but he wasn't leaving her alone. That is coercion, period. No one has to read anyone's mind here. She said no, he should have left her alone. I'm not going to spend anymore time arguing with you about this.

    I had a neighbor in this tiny apartment building, I think it was once a motel, my boyfriend was dying and passed away there. This guy next door not only got more fresh, he started doing things because I wanted nothing to do with him. He slashed my tires, and stole the brand new rack I put on the top of my roof of the car. After he did those things I promptly moved out. Some people just cannot be dealt with at all. Emily's issue with that guy was not a bad one at all. This happened years ago

    Well, Penny and Leonard are actually my favorite couple in the series, as frustrating as they were at times. I don't really dislike any of the permanent couples, actually. In some ways, Penny and Leonard's relationship seems the most realistic to me. I do get tired of them being considered so negatively sometimes by fans, but we all have our own life experiences and perspectives, and not everyone will agree on things.

      It's a running joke of the show. Her surname is never said. Even when her dad was introduced, he saod "call me [first name]" as a way to bypass leonard saying "nice to meet you, mister [surname]" "please, call me [first name]" type conversations that usually play out.
      Although I admittedly cannot think of any examples right now, a lot of american shows will hide a random characters surname. (Or, in the case of Grimm, Monroe's first name is never said.) It's just a subtle running gag 😂

    leonard and penny is the only relationship i like in this show - howard and bernadette and sheldon and amy have the worse relationships to me - leonard and penny were meant to be together from the beginning of the show - i enjoy watching the ups and downs of their relationship - if it was not for leonard and penny i would probably would have never finished watching the show - sheldon is only funny because of his interactions to leonard and penny by himself he is shallow and self centered character - he is totally stupid about any thing outside of physics
