I made a Dane throwing axe from a Gränsfors Bruk broad axe!

  • New axe design work with a Gränsfors Bruk broad axe! I’ve been playing around with the idea of using a broad axe for axe throwing however I wanted a single handed throwing axe. I wanted to use the broad axe but I needed to shave some weight off to make it functional at a double rotation. And this is what brought the Dane pattern throwing axe! What a great work axe for axe throwing. Heavy, hits with force but still slings great out of the hand and rotates very nice into the target. Great design that I had a great time doing and enjoyed throwing this axe even more! I would like to think a Viking in Valhöll is looking upon this axe wishing he could throw it. Far fetched however I still wonder!
Axe throwing! My axe throwing is based on primarly using work axes or axe tools to throw in real world environments. Join me as I embark on this journey to provide my knowledge of axe throwing! Tips, tricks and fundamentals to get you out there throwing with confidence and accuracy!
I also cover my passion for design work! Anything from complete axe head designs to redesigns that change the weight or the look of the axe head all together but still creating a functional axe! Handle design and finishes, custom builds and tools I use are just a few other things I do on this channel too!
I test and review axes ranging from high end to common axes you find in your local hardware store! All of my reviews are done with an honest opinion regardless of manufacturer. No BS, no bias opinions here. The real truth on axes and throwing axes!

Thanks for watching! Dave and I are always cooking something up! I’ve got something in the works I’m trying to pull off now. In the design process now to see if it will actually work for axe throwing. Stay tuned!

Love it!!! I have been waiting for this one. Great work on the modifications! Absolutely the coolest axe yet! What a tank, that axe is a beast! Outstanding throwing as always, Wes! Thank you for the video.

I had a fun time doing this one. I am shocked how well that axe flew. It definitely was a beast and I’m really glad it worked out. That thing was expensive 😂

@MidgardAxe I am impressed how well the axe did. The way that axe flies, you'd never know how much of a beast it is. The THUD when the axe hits the target is insane! You said it when you said it hits like a Mac truck. Great job on the work you did again. That's an awesome addition to your axe wall! Thanks again for the video. I appreciate your time and work.

You’ve out done yourself again man ! That axe looks absolutely badass ! I’m going to have to make myself one at some point !!

I thought so too! I try my best to not only make it a functional flyer but also to look the part. This one I think did both! And I did get your email! Glad you got your axes. Let me know what you end up doing with the Hardcore Hammers axe! And how well you think it throws

Entertaining video as usual, and that axe is beast. If I tried throwing something that heavy I think I would be up for another shoulder rebuild. Now that you have done the expensive heavyweight, I'd love to see your take on something like a prandi German style hatchet, a lot lighter in the hand and on the wallet?

It definitely is. I filmed that around the middle of last week and my shoulder still hates me haha. Just need some more time with it and I think I’ll be able to bring some dynamic throwing with it.

Nice big throwing axe, how long is the handle. I could never throw that far. My big throwing axe is a Belknap Bluegrass head from the 1920s on a 23 1/2 “whiskey river straight handle weighing in at 3lb 15oz. I have to get back to almost 20’ for a single rotation . Thanks again great work

Good job on your axe. I couldn't have brought myself to chop up a fine broad axe like that but I do appreciate the Dane axes alot too.
I bet that axe would have no problem splintering any shield back in the day. It deserves a name I think.😊

That’s a good idea! How about you guys name it? I’ll do a community poll and you guys can comment names. Whatever name gets the most attention can win! And no worries, I have a good inventory of those axes and I’ve got two that I’m not doing anything too! Great axes!
