Just learned that all the cherry blossoms on the waterfront in Washington DC were a gift from Japan. Beautiful.
Do not touch the cherry blossoms. They should only be viewed from afar and not played with. The cherry blossom is a symbol of the Japanese royal family and is guarded by the spirits of the Japanese royal guards. Anyone who touches a cherry blossom will be attacked, and cherry blossoms are allergic to them.

The shopping alley in 30-45 minutes is a great shot. The myth of hanami combined with Japanese modern reality of plastic chairs and smell of French fries is very powerful indeed.
