    Considering this was 1970, this is incredibly trans positive. They never question Lola’s attractiveness, or make fun of the MC for being attracted to her. Remember that this is the year after Stonewall. This song was way ahead of its time. And it’s just generally awesome.
    Another awesome one is Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed.

    • @mfree80286
      @mfree80286 Pƙed 2 lety +31

      Yes, but there was also a brilliant out left in the lyrics just for the stiffs in parliament. "But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man, And so is Lola".
      Obviously we know what's meant, but if there was any official questioning... "of course not, Lola is simply glad he's a man as well."
      Then again, even that doesn't directly produce a sexual assignation. Bravo, wordplay.

Coca Cola) but you’d still be charged champagne prices because you weren’t as much paying for a drink as you were paying for a girl to come sit with you.

    The song "Lola" by The Kinks was released in 1970. I was 14 and I really got into many of the British rock bands when they invaded America with their music in 1964. I saw The Kinks for the first time in 1977. I also saw them in 1980 and around in 1983 or 1984. All three concerts I saw them in my hometown of Santa Barbara, California. Ray Davies was quite the showman on stage and very comical.

    As Lemmy from Motorhead said when he was asked about having had a relationship with a transsexual woman model ...
    He just took another drink and said... If shes got the ba##s to have them cut off ..Ive got them to go out with her..đŸ‘șđŸ€ đŸ˜‚
    The kinks always had some of the cleverest lyrics ...often with a uniquely English/London theme. You can imagine how this one got the establishment a bit hot under the collar back when it hit the record decks.
