    If water is deeper, drive in 1st gear with high rpm because it gives you maximum torque. Remember water weighs 1000km per cubic meter , so car has to push a lot of weight when wading through water.

      I did this and after sometime smoke started coming out , even after stopping for 1 hr, smoke was coming if i started to drive

    • @balasubramanianv7331
      @balasubramanianv7331 Před 2 lety +2

      No need to drive in first gear. I drove my sedan in second gear in nearly two feet of water near Egmore. Torque is good enough in second gear. The trick is too keep moving. If the car stops, do not crank the engine. Just have it towed from that spot. If you crank the engine, water will enter inside. Then the whole engine will have to taken apart, some parts replaced and serviced. This will be very costly. Depending on the car, it can cost you anything between Rs.60,000 to a few lakhs.

    • @inpursuitofhappiness366
      @inpursuitofhappiness366 Před 6 měsíci

      Ok this is always a thing that people must discuss more. Never change gear in this kind of situation right
      Today i managed to go through
      My instinct recommended me what the original commentor has mentioned. I did keep it in first gear and rpm 4k and then felt like water was overriding I cannot change the gear. Although not recommended to go above 4.5k, Had to do it for about 30 seconds and then back to normal rpms
      Better to **ing avoid this in the first place and plan in advance. And eat whatever you have at home. Unless it's absolutely essential, do not risk it
      But should I have driven in second gear? I didn't have the confidence to do it in next gear and also like Birla mentioned you can't rush through it
      There is also ripples of water coming from the opposite side because of other vehicles and that's when I had to crank up the rpm even more
      It's S cross 1.3. I am sure the 1.6 would have done it easily with the 320Nm torque?
      But I think I am doing some mistake. Because Eeco in front of me also managed to get through

    A week after Diwali I had to drop a family member at Egmore Railway station which is a distance of 14 kms from my house in South Chennai. No Ola or Uber was available at 5.00 A.M. There was heavy flooding near Egmore but I have more than 35 years of driving experience. I reached home safely with the car but lost a hub cap. I spent Rs.1200 to replace all four hubcaps.

  • @muralirajagopalarao5570
    @muralirajagopalarao5570 Před 2 lety +8

    Don't underestimate power of water especially when it is flowing. You can't judge the current sitting inside. Always keep looking at the instrument cluster, if indication comes act accordingly. If battery indication comes then definitely short circuiting is happening which is very risky.
