because of the rain the windscreen cools down to the dew point inside the car, so the dew (fog) forms. the dew point depends upon the ambient temperature inside the car and the relative humidity inside the car.

Thank you Rajesh.. I faced this fogging issue and couldn't drive my Altroz XZ+ easily 15 days back from Coimbatore to Bangalore due to heavy rain. Done the same thing as u explained using dry cloth wiped inside windshield but still could not get clarity on front side of windshield. I understood from your video, that I made mistake by not increasing fan speed and just switched ON the defogger. Thanks very much for this useful video and next time I shall try the tips from you.
Addition to this tips I do one thing Immediately after front mirror defog I use to open the front door mirrors both the side little bit 1 or 2 inches.. I have rain guard above the side doors window so it won’t allow the rain water to come in. This way it defog really fast..

No...I think that's a wrong suggestion. The temperature difference between outdoor and indoor should be as minimal as possible to avoid fogging. So, keeping the AC on and playing with the temperature (keep it in coolest to slightly warm) depending on the result will do. I've lived and driven in extreme cold and wet conditions (Minnesota, USA)...hence the suggestion. Keeping it in heater mode will eventually worsen the fogging.
Normally fogging in the windshield happening due to temperature difference only. Whenever the ambient temperature is lower than the temperature inside the car it happens. So we have to use the AC to disappear the fog.
