I think this is the problem with the ad: Many people were mad about it because it exemplified a protest, that looks nothing like most that happen around the world. Obviously Pepsi did not want to show an extremely violent protest to advertise their product, but the harsh reality is that most protests are met with brutal forces. Additionally, the fact that Kendall Jenner just walked in and “saved the day” aggravated people as well. She was just taking apart in a photo shoot when a nearby protest was happening, and the she became intrigued. It essentially shows that she had no intention of doing anything to fight for whatever issue was being protested for, until she saw that it was happening. It seems to be a parallel to some celebrities who are so caught up in their own world that they only join in on mainstream issues (not saying anything about Kendall Jenner here, they just used her as a symbol of fame.) I also think people are mad because this celebrity just walks up and stops the potential police forces by doing absolutely nothing, when these protestors presumably have been fighting for this issue for a long time. It made people feel like their issues aren’t going to be heard or responded to because they are not popular, rich, or famous.

Omg majority of the comments are so positive and I completely agree with all of them Thank you guys so much for not being idiots I really do appreciate it
Yea people over reacted for sure. But it was mostly a very misunderstood representation of a protest. In a real protest, the tension between the protesters and police is very delicate and even a slight slip can cause a turmoil. Something that serious can't be diffused with a Pepsi. It was just ill written.

for those who do not understand the problem kendall jenner gives a cop a pepsi and he takes it with a smile (ad) lesha a black girl walks up to white cops and she gets handcuffed (real life)
I think this commercial undermines the hardships protesters had to go through in real life to achieve peace. It’s one of those things that should only be taken seriously.
I swear if Ed Vanilla Sheeran/ Shawn Bland Mendes did this ad everyone would shut their mouth and talk about how good it is. The Kardashians are hated for the dumbest reasons possible
Let's be real the Ad is trying to promote Pepsi via association with protests. And people got angry that Pepsi is using protests to promote their product.
The thing is I'm reading the comments and some people are saying they are not that upset with the add, even some black people have spoke out about it not being that problematic. Honestly I don't really have an opinion on this ad as a whole, but I do feel that, even if we're part of the afro-american community, we can't talk for the whole community. If some black people felt hurt and disrespected with this ad, we don't get to say to them "yeah you're reading too much into it" because their feelings are 100% valid. The thing is some people were shocked, others didn't care. Everyone has the right to its own opinion, but just because our opinion is different doesn't mean we get to invalidate the opposite one.
Poor Kendall, she never intended to that. She has never decided whether or not she should do it. Personally, I see NOTHING wrong with the ad. Obviously, people took it way to far.
I bet if the main character were Beyoncé or Rihanna, and the same exact story line, it wouldn’t have been hated on. It’s really crucial to see that now people are hating because they are just so frikkin sensitive to everything. Stop looking too deep into this, it’s Pepsi. I personally think that this add is fine! ok but even though the ad is actually fine it’s sooo respectful that pepsi took the time to acknowledge that kendall received the biggest backlash. like that just says a lot about the company
This ad is awesome . This shows a so callled protestor trying to establish peace by offering the opposing riot officer a Pepsi . What’s wrong with this ad? This is so ridiculous.
I always wondered what this whole scandal was all about because I've never watched the ad. Wow....like seriously? I get the connection but in the end they never mentioned what the protests is all about so once again certain people have to make it all about themselves. The message of the ad to me was: everyone just fucking chill and let's be friends. Obviously things in real life aren't easily solved with a can of pepsi but it's just a advert!....its not like adverts are known for being realistic lol

Honestly the ad wasn't bad in the beginning. It's the part where kendall gives the officer a pepsi then all of a sudden everything is fixed. That part just shouldn't have been added.
I think the issue for people really lies within Pepsi using Kendall for this vid. How ppl view the kar-Jen family as a whole: the last thing the world can handle is one of them being put into the spotlight for anything that has to do with segregation/unequal rights bcuz what would they know about it? I didn't take the vid as hard as some are but that would be my opinion as to why it hit home for others. But for the record, any white female of high class privilege would've taken this hit, had they been chosen for the vid.
This ad was so confusing why didn’t it end with everyone including the cops eating together with a Pepsi? Makes more sense than just a cop drinking one and then people cheer.
It was a dang commercial and if you’re going to say black lives matters then say that don’t throw shade . Ding ding ding! My reasonable people alarm is going off!
I have the feeling that The entire world is overthinking nowadays.
It's a beautiful ad with a respectful message. But clearly people who wants to destroy things don't like it very much
Overthinking and stupidthinking. I don't know where these overly emotional and non rational people come from the last years and they get offended by anything, they twist everything in becoming something offensive, they make people appologice for non sense reasons, they cancel people like they even have a real power over somebody. I don't understand who tf are these sick bastards. Maybe they are a cult of karens or something.
You seem to be tone deaf as well
Not entirely
A beautiful ad with a respectful message? What message?! That giving soda to a police officer will cure police brutality?!
@@thedemonhater7748 No cure needed.
0:51 im coming to yall from the future to inform you that this happened in real life year 2020
Wow... when i saw the publicity, i had this feeling of being together, the power we all have and that we can share, but people still complain... i can understand them, but I think that this publicity is really about the idea of being together...
I guess you didn't see the part where Kendall shoves the black lady out of the way.
@@MrGamecatCanaveral 😂😂😂 no wait what? I'm not laughing at the action but just how my mind red it out 💀
Omg majority of the comments are so positive and I completely agree with all of them
Thank you guys so much for not being idiots I really do appreciate it
This is why companies shouldn’t makes ads involving politics when their products have nothing to do with that
The protest is Probably against the sugar tax 👌🏼
People really want something to hate on!
Deserved
For me the ad was just fine... i dont know why too much people were exaggerated. Actually the ad promotes peace and harmony..so relax guys...
Yea people over reacted for sure. But it was mostly a very misunderstood representation of a protest. In a real protest, the tension between the protesters and police is very delicate and even a slight slip can cause a turmoil. Something that serious can't be diffused with a Pepsi. It was just ill written.
0:48 THE EGG!!!
Save Minneapolis Kendall.
For God sake it’s ridiculous how she was blamed she’s just the model Pepsi are to blame it’s disgusting
Guys , it's an ad about world peace and every body is losing their shit because one of the main characters wasn't a black person. People are too extra.
emily 2 and also because they don’t want the protests to end.......they don’t want peace. They don’t want the spotlight to ever be taken away. It’s a tale as old as time. And it’s getting pretty darn old.
for those who do not understand the problem
kendall jenner gives a cop a pepsi and he takes it with a smile (ad)
lesha a black girl walks up to white cops and she gets handcuffed (real life)
Even if this ad was inspired by that real event you mentioned, where is the problem?
uzefulvideos it’s one more demonstration of white supremacy/ racism
@@uzefulvideos3440 wow. You still don't get it. Amazing.
I think this commercial undermines the hardships protesters had to go through in real life to achieve peace. It’s one of those things that should only be taken seriously.
Only Pepsi can bring world peace
I swear if Ed Vanilla Sheeran/ Shawn Bland Mendes did this ad everyone would shut their mouth and talk about how good it is. The Kardashians are hated for the dumbest reasons possible
0:49 that freaking egg
0:50 famous egg 🥚
People from this generation are soooo dramatic and they feel like “victims” 4 everything out there on social media 😴
I think the reason people dislike this ad is because it feels like its pandering.
Let's be real the Ad is trying to promote Pepsi via association with protests. And people got angry that Pepsi is using protests to promote their product.
Omg like it's Pepsi fault not Kendall's plus it's fucking Pepsi get over it
A-train did it better.
only watching this for my marketing assessment lol.
Honestly people now are so petty.
Poor Kendall, she never intended to that. She has never decided whether or not she should do it. Personally, I see NOTHING wrong with the ad. Obviously, people took it way to far.
i got the thumbnail pic as the excerpt for my prt essay lol
This just doesn't make any sense.. It's just an advert...
Some people just need to stop looking for a reason to make drama
I bet if the main character were Beyoncé or Rihanna, and the same exact story line, it wouldn’t have been hated on. It’s really crucial to see that now people are hating because they are just so frikkin sensitive to everything. Stop looking too deep into this, it’s Pepsi. I personally think that this add is fine! Ugh.
Exactly that's Reverse racism at its finest! People these days are so backwards and twisted it needs to stop.
GURLnGUCCIsunglasses no such thing as "reverse racism"
Confuzed Owl no there isn’t, racism is racism.
People of colour can be RUDE to white a person but its not "reverse racism" since theres no such thing as that
@@iby3758 people of color can be RACIST to white people you mean.
What a fucking dumb reason to ban a commercial or terrorize someone!!
ok but even though the ad is actually fine it’s sooo respectful that pepsi took the time to acknowledge that kendall received the biggest backlash. like that just says a lot about the company
People who are saying they don't see the problem with this add!?!? Like WTF! SMH!!! See it now???
0:49 wait. is that the world record egg?
This ad is awesome . This shows a so callled protestor trying to establish peace by offering the opposing riot officer a Pepsi . What’s wrong with this ad? This is so ridiculous.
You're right they are probably 16 year old blonde white girls named tiffany and sarah that started this bulls**t
try to do that in real life, you¿ll get your answer

They should considering putting (PRIDE) protesting
I always wondered what this whole scandal was all about because I've never watched the ad. Wow....like seriously? I get the connection but in the end they never mentioned what the protests is all about so once again certain people have to make it all about themselves. The message of the ad to me was: everyone just fucking chill and let's be friends. Obviously things in real life aren't easily solved with a can of pepsi but it's just a advert!....its not like adverts are known for being realistic lol

To be honest. I dont see anything wrong with that ad. Its actually a great one.

Honestly the ad wasn't bad in the beginning. It's the part where kendall gives the officer a pepsi then all of a sudden everything is fixed. That part just shouldn't have been added.
An ad doesn't have to be just video clips. It has to have a meaning! And this one had a one that fit perfectly because of what she does in the end.
Hands a pepsi*
Everyone:🐋🐬🐋🐬🐋🐬🐋🐬🐋🐬🐋
Nothing is wrong with this cuz the protest was about peace....OHHHHHH I see it now
I think the issue for people really lies within Pepsi using Kendall for this vid.
I think the entire planet is 'missing the mark'
This ad was so confusing why didn’t it end with everyone including the cops eating together with a Pepsi? Makes more sense than just a cop drinking one and then people cheer.
It was a dang commercial and if you’re going to say black lives matters then say that don’t throw shade . If anyone wants to say black lives matter it’s me I was at a store and got a remark from someone saying how I should be ratchet but I act white. I’m so sick and tired of everything being about race and gender. I’m a black woman ,I’m a main target for society but I don’t blame a freaking commercial if anything you should be sharing this to everyone you know. If I’m 10 and I’ve found this out why can’t you?
Samella Sanders Just to be clear, I am in NO WAY criticizing you. I would just really like to know when you started to refer to yourself as a woman. I'd also like to give you a piece of advice... It's excellent that you're analyzing what's going on around you and are acquiring an "informed opinion" of the world. However, you only have a few years left to be a kid. Continue to do what you're doing BUT also stop and smell the roses. Do "kids" things while they are still age appropriate. Don't take on the worries of the world just yet. Be a mature, informed, GIRL. Womanhood will force itself on you soon enough. God Bless and have fun!!! Happy New Year🎉🎇🎉🎇.
We live in a candy ass society.
People who are saying this generation is weak. So I guess every past generations are also sensitive. I remember my grandfather thought the same when people where protesting the stop of sending our troops to Vietnam and called them "sensitive",but he wasnt even a soilder and got away from getting drafted. Every generation/ people has a reason to get mad. It might seem pity to us, cause it doesn't effect us and we never lived what other people are going through. Yes the AD is garbage, but peopleare allowed to express their opinions. The USA already has been splited between right and left because neither group wants to discuss or allow the other side to speak. This commercial should've played in another country, cause its obvious the USA is to split up and cant take anyone's opinions
people will really get offended by a celebrity giving a can of soda to a cop
