Lisl Steiner, the star our new What’s Underneath episode, has photographed everyone from Kennedy to Castro. She's an 88-year-old treasure (really, she’s 87, but she adds a year because she doesn’t want to be younger) with the style of no style and a hilariously poignant outlook on her own experiences and on the bullshit swamping our culture. Whether it’s losing her virginity at 23, her experience with breast cancer, or her honest acceptance of death (she facilitated her suffering husband’s death at 88 and plans to exit gracefully herself), no topic is out of bounds for this ageless spirit.
For a journey that’s all about not giving a fuck, watch Lisl in this episode of the What’s Underneath Project!

"My parents were so in love that they kindly neglected me." What a sublime sentence.
It's kind of a true statement...I knew 2 older couples who had been together for decades totally still in love & inseparable... all of their kids either got into drugs and/or had trouble in life... maybe coincidence maybe not.
I call it codependency. Not love.
@@Lyrielonwind so individuals should ignore one another and that proves they're not co-dependent? It was an entirely different era and, despite the modern take on relationships, *some* individuals actually really did love one another like this.
Yep
@@Ninsidhe
She is taking about unconditional love; you either get It before 10 years old but never later. Her parents were so busy loving each other there was no room for her.
Those are her words and stop twisting mine. Why did you GOT It personal? 🥱
"I'm never vulnerable. Maybe I am, but I'm so primitive that I don't notice." That's a whole new level of self-awareness! Wow.
+Claire Dim I looked up primitive and I got "relating to, denoting, or preserving the character of an early stage in the evolutionary or historical development of something" But I don't quite understand what she meant by that. Could you please explain?
+Sydne Taylor I think she means primitive as in 'instinctual' - not intellectualising or ruminating. So whatever she is feeling in the moment, she just feels it without labelling and gets on with life. That's my take anyhow.
+Kate Chadwick Thank you, I understand now
@@sydnet16 jes... She is riding the waves ... As she said
She is also very "german" Kind of .. this mentality is so Down to earth.. I live now in south Germany and here you know that there are good Days and Not so good Days and. You dont care so much or are over the top worried .. you stay calm .. do you know what I mean?
This lady's level of badassery is off the charts. Def wanna be like this when I'm 88.
"It's all bullshit" and then she drops her bag with a loud clunk - I love this woman.
‘i wrote a letter to the creepy owner of the site...’ ‘...of facebook? mark zuckerberg?’ ‘yeah, him’ lol. legendary.
He has a creepy look 👽
@@Lyrielonwind He, Zuckerberg looks "Androidal."

🤣🔥
“One should end ones life without possessions.” 🙏🏾
The more guilty you are the more you mourn.... that's some deep stuff right there.
Lux Chevis it's just words that only speak to her experience 🤣
Hmmm.
But iz could be also a phantasm guiltyness...
"There is a lot of bullshit in mourning" ....hillarious as fuck.
It's also true....I almost mourned myself to death
I can’t agree with that statement. Maybe the more you need people, the more you mourn.
I can die now! Nothing more to learn. This is the most important thing I have ever heard or seen in my life. As a man nearing 60, I long for... for... for..., words of wisdom. This surpasses that need. A woman my mothers age... schooling me once again! Thank you so much. I haven't cried this "good" in years. Strong-Brave-Powerful-Wise-Unapologetic. As the young folks say, "this gave me life". I can live Now.
Totally agree. This video clip should be like many people's mission statement and watch it often!
DocDawg79...beautifully stated...thank you, for your genuine and humble expression
I hear you. She's an inspiration.
68 here. So I'm not so crazy after all... or she is too! Pretty good company.
AMEN Doc.
The woman you profile here are far more beautiful and interesting than any fashion magazine on the planet! You have found a medium/platform for encompassing the sacred feminine spirit !Lisl Stieiner is no exception such a truly extraordinary human being !
GREAT comment!! Brilliant observation and articulation. Thank you for putting into words that which I'm unable xXx
@@bellebelle7532
Agreed. We need to finally move beyond cult of celebrity and start seeing we’re all humanity and all stars in our own way. Let’s evolve into cooperation, compassion and respect for those like these humans/old souls esp wise honest strong female energy. Govts s/b replaced with councils of wise elders/old souls like her. 🙏❤️✨
"At one point I was diagnosed with breast cancer....which I have a feeling never happened." 😍❤ I love this woman.
I've never felt so proud of someone i dont even know. This is awesome

You right fantastic lady😍😍😍😍
She's a grand dame and I love grand dames! Get this woman a glass of champagne!
A bottle or 12 even!! 💚xx
And a handfan 🌺
A well done champagne at that 👍
Amazing, she shows that , she isn't her body, she is much more than that, she is 93 now 😊
Do you know of she is ok?

@@TeriLaFaye amazing. Thank you!
I could sit and listen to her talk all day; I bet she's got some great stories to tell!
I bet you will have also some stories to tell when your are 88 sry... 87 :D
She's bang on the money when she says we're living in an age of superficiality! Social media is turning a lot of young adults into narcissistic selfie obsessed numpties! Just look at the Kar krasians, love island etc.
_„When I fall, I fall correctly.“_
- this is the lesson I take from Her speech
It's a good one. Metaphorical or literally.
not a bad one to take at all. you do have good taste. but just that one lesson? you should be more greedy because she has the royal jewels of wisdom on offer.
I love her idea about putting every politician on a boat and sinking it in the ocean. Sounds good.
angelbe88 yes we must start a revolution
But also the Bank bosses...
That's definately an upgrade on the reopening of Devil's Island to accomodate them.
I got a good chuckle out of that one 🤣
.. yup...
I like this woman. She is not afraid to face the world and tell the truth about it..
Age tend to do that😂😂😂
"Wouldn't it be nice if every Spring we will look better, just like the leaves falling in the Fall and then everything is dead and then Spring, and all is beautiful and new. That would be lovely but it doesn't happen." - She is wonderful!
She's real; hard to find.
*throws her LV bag on the ground* shes a legend lol
+Sahandra Rivera it's just a thing
+Sahandra Rivera I guess I'm a bit of a grumpy asshole, but I thought it was disrespectful to the person's studio/floor... However I can appreciate that she has zero fucks to give.
You got the kleanification vote; should of been title grams is about to school y’all young folks
@@saradawn9385 floors go through worse than people dropping bags....
@@saradawn9385 I think the guests are instructed to throw their items on the floor as they remove them. It seems like the style of the video/interview.
This woman is everything I ever wanted to be in life
Wow, she is incredible. Her words brought tears to my eyes, not tears of sadness but tears of love and inspiration. What a legend.
I totally agree, amazing inspiring old soul
@@BeFree-BeFrugal me too, she’s so inspirational. She’s epic x
And dignity; an old fashion word usually misunderstood with arrogance or pride.
Tears????? Bloody hell
She is by far one of my favorites of this series. Shes so unapologetically honest and confident its amazing and I could only hope to find that kind of honesty and confidence one day.
That's why is so easy to fall in love with her, no matter your age, gender or sexual orientation. She's real.
i love hearing people like her talk. i could sit and listen talk for hours and hours
She dropped that bag like a fucking boss
I love the way she tosses her things onto the floor. She's so free!!!!
"87 but I say 88" haha I adore her
This woman is awesome! I love when older people embrace their age and take honor their life experiences.
"My style is no style" I love this lady! Wonderful sense of humour - She is amazing
When she took her dress off and looked down at herself, and then wiped off her makeup, my eyes filled with tears of pride for her.
It’s the soul inside the body Crystal, and we’ve just been in the presence of a wonderful soul .. an honour
"if you haven't gotten it by the age of ten, it's over" I agree...
Yeah. Seems to me their parents didn't give her unconditional love. Maybe not abused but neglected.
YES!!!!!
More interviews like Lisl please. She is amazing... and way, way, way more interesting and inspiring then the young models imho.
don't put the young models down ...of course they can not be this much interesting coz...well...they are not so experienced .
@@user-ey9fm5my3s No intent to put them down. I see you agree they aren't as interesting...I'm just saying the others are more interesting and inspiring
Definitely
absolutely. Experience...the education of life.
You shouldn't die with possessions...yes!! One of the best videos out of them all!
The older ladies on this project are my favorite to listen to, they perceive things differently, love their wisdom.
She's my favorite interview so far

"Facebook's creepy owner" great!
I just fell in love, she's Perfect, I wish for her 88+ more years, God Bless You Lisl
Me too 💖
The most honest striptease ever conducted.
I have to acknowledge your comment above any other in that it resonated as a succinct take away response from this no B.S. individual.
😝
"my style is no style" fucking love it...as soon as she dropped her bag the way she did...i knew i would like her...She swears like a sailor...this is what you call a free sprit x
Part of it is champagne...I love this woman. I hope she lives to be well in her 100's, so feisty!
But what's the other part? People should know when they do want to check out...
The other part is high dose phenobarbital and sometimes another anti anxiolytics
She made me smile and laugh so many times. Awesome woman!
"society is kaput" :D i couldn't agree more :) thank you for this!! it was very inspiring!
In love with her solution for world peace.
"the more guilty you are, the more you mourn." Truth in every word she said! Beautiful woman. Touched my soul. Thank all of the people who came up with this idea. wonderful beings! :)
This woman is fantastic, such as a badass. I hope I can live to 88, and still have something going on.
I had a Hungarian psychology professor her age, his family didn't get out before Hitler so he saw the horrors. But damn if they aren't the same soul in two bodies. Leslie Simonyi I hope you're still out there terrifying first year psychology students in the wrong major and mesmerizing those that need to stay on that path!
My favourite too. When I grow up I want to be like her (I'm 60). Quite moving. Thank you.
Cheryl Sim That's exactly what I thought...but what wait???? hihihihi
Everything about this interview is absolutely beautiful
"I'm so primitive that I don't notice." I LOVE THAT SO MUCH. She's divine.
I love her, her none apologetic use of "bad" language lol I was laughing throughout her talk. I hope when I am older I am this blunt. and feel this beautiful with or without my breasts.
I just adore when old people cuss and this lady is perfect.
"one should end one's life without possessions" damn that hit me
This ageless spirit runs with the wolves, you are my inspiration Lisl Steiner
This is my favourite interview so far, what a wonderful, wise, amazing woman. :)
I was just about to type the same thing
She is so liberating. Imagine occasionally being with her and her free spirit rubbing off on you. Her understanding and application of life is truly liberating.
This is why I love talking to old people. They are so interesting, and full of life. Literally! I love her "bull-sheet" 💙💙💙
I love this woman. I totally agree with her on taking the queen and politicians on a sinking ship lol. Nice to know I'm not the only one with these thoughts!
Mrs Royle She didn't say to take the queen, she said to put all of the politicians ON the Queen Elizabeth (boat). And I agree. There's plenty of room for everyone! 😁
@@ravynkat shit, take the queen too!
@@jmaldo92 Noooo the Queen is constant just like this old Dame Lisle they could be great buddies.
When I see and hear of projects like this, I am grateful for the experience to be able to witness and learn from others who share their lives with others. The idea of allowing yourself to be venerable from the inside to the outside is a big step for anyone who is willing to truly share themselves. A wonderful concept. Bravo for all who did so, there are many of us who care. Thank you!
I'VE FOUND MY SPIRIT ANIMAL!!! I love this woman, so inspiring! This whole series is brilliantly inspiring!!
I have watched every StyleLikeU video at least 3 times, anxiously awaiting more (please add more!) and she is one of my favorites! I wish I could live in New York and take her to lunch and just listen to her talk about her life. What a beautiful person.
"Only need enough for subsistence" and a library card. Will "Americans" from the USA ever understand that? If so, we might get a handle on this Climate Emergency.
