pinning this: sorry I made a mistake and commented on Lee Know instead of I.N. I am still learning and try not to watch the performances in advance, so this is literally my first, pure reaction. My comment still goes to both of em. liked the falsetto: it is ABSOLUTELY okay to sing in that register especially so high. and for I.N. it goes double for the "his voice broke". I mean...heard about stylistic choices mnet? i didnt even consider it a mistake to talk about goddamn. so...virtual hug? YES? we throwing hands with mnet? YES. thank you for all the love guys
I was literally ready to write a long a*s mail to Mnet about their voting policies when I saw the results back then. Like how are they counting those votes and are they even being unbiased? Because I haven't met a single person who saw this performance and thought it should have gotten that rank.
(tbh I think it was to maintain the drama tho. Stray Kids had won the previous 2 rounds consecutively, and if they got a good rank here, they would be guaranteed to win the entire thing. Which they still did ;))
I will never stop being unsatisfied with the fact that this stage of Stray Kids didn't rank higher, because to me, this was definetely most meaningful and detailed stage they have EVER done, so I find it quite bizzare and personally offended lol, but it is what it is, im happy at least other stages were appreciated!

If I had to guess why this happened, I would guess that the concept was a little too dark for the "experts" and they were unable to look past that at the performance. I mean, they literally did a musical rendition of using blood magic to summon a demon in order to bring a child back from death, and in conservative Korea, it may have just been too much. Otherwise, I can think of nothing.

A lot of Stays believe that the little boy represents Hyunjin. This was their second performance without Hyunjin after he had to go on hiatus and they weren't allowed to mention him at all. To be honest Stays were pretty scared at this time that Hyunjin would be forced to leave the group because there was COMPLETE SILENCE regarding him. No updates on where he was or how he was doing, no one had seen him in months and the kids hadn't even been allowed to metion his name. Most people believe that this performance was their way of showing us their stance without saying it. Stray Kids are very involved with their concepts, song production and arrangement and stage performances so its not too far off. The original song was sung for a girl but Skz changed the lyrics of their performance to make it gender neutral and Changbin said he wanted it to be for the people they love and care about. Before the performance Skz made rings with engravements for all the members INCLUDING one for Hyunjin and the boys were wearing the rings during the performance. The 8th ring (Hyunjin's ring) was on a necklace on the statue of the boy in the beginning. During the performance you can see them sacrifice themselves to bring the little boy back to life and he hugs Chan at the end after all of them fall and he comes back. Very symbolic. Just wanted to share this.
I totally agree. I was right along with all STAYS at the time. I was truly scared and sad not knowing anything about Hyunjin and if he was ever coming back. At the time I thought that maybe SKZ made a deal with JYP that if they won Kingdom then Hyunjin would come back in time for their comeback. The group members wanted to in luxe Hyunjin because they are brothers in battle and they missed Hyunjin big time.
I only became a Stay last year and I've been looking for answers to why I couldn't find Hyunjin in any of these videos ...I'm so glad I looked at comments. Why did this make me so sad? I think I would've been extremely anxious ...
@@worldwidefonnayss8080 It was definitely a really difficult time for Stays and Stray Kids. Other fandoms were constantly throwing hate at Skz, we were fighting tooth and nail to get them to win Kingdom and Hyunjin's absense made us that much more desperate. Honestly, when he went on hiatus I completely cut myself off from interacting with most Stays and other fandoms because it was just that difficult but all Stays including me came together for Skz during Kingdom and followed the fanbases in helping Skz win. And I think our efforts showed too in the results. Wasn't easy but definitely worth it
@@min1705 I may not have been present during that time as a Stay... So I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. I honestly don't know how I would have made it through that time, they are one of my main groups now... And have helped through many rough times

The way you complimented the part that IN was disappointed about is honestly a win, I too had no idea his voice cracked at first and I always thought that that part was one of the most emotional lines of the whole performance! I really hope IN will gain more confidence in the future, he truly deserves it, he’s an amazing singer
Yh me too that part was emotional…….. I think that mistake influenced him to join the mayfly dance team instead of vocal team…… although he is a great dancer too….. but I was a little surprised.
@@sharonbesong9687 yea, I really think the experience shook him and that’s why he ended up on the dance team instead of with the vocalists. He’s a pretty good dancer but let’s all be honest, he’s a vocalist and everyone’s always known him to be one of the main vocalists so it was an interesting turn out of events for him to not be in the vocalist group. I was honestly really disappointed that he didn’t sing with them. He has such a lovely voice and I think he would’ve fit the song so well. He doesn’t get many opportunities to really demonstrate how good his voice is except when he’s doing solo SKZ song videos or like the few times he’s sung Trot music. I hope he gets another chance some day. Especially now that he’s older and been through this experience and has more confidence.
as an I.N biased i was so sad and angry for this... they literally made him talk in front of the camera right after the performance is over, they didn’t let him to be with the others and they used him for clout by showing him crying in the teaser video..... it was such a small mistake and tbh it made the song much more emotional for me, but he said that he did so bad and that he messed up so i was really sad.... 😭

Chan didn't get many parts but hit the highest note of the performance towards the end in the background. I wish it was a little more clear for the audience :(

yes, yes. super sorry for that, this is the downfall of blind reactions haha. sometimes I make a mistake. still goes out to both: falsetto is okay there (just a bit more focus on making it a tiny heavier to smooth out it out),,, which will be pretty hard if you are THE MAIN DANCER, haha. and for I.N....i didnt consider it a mistake. sorry, not sorry for mnet but they hanged on something that was NOT faulty. I am so sorry that they stressed him out for nothing really bad like this. People do not really understand that this can mess so much with someones confidence...it was really unfair.

@@Katriinka yes! I.N’s “mistake” only added emotion to his performance. It wasn’t a mistake at all and I’m so sad they stressed him so much.
@@_Kuma_ I don'tknow who the "them" is. But it was a competition, and this round，they got the last position. I don't think the members or the company stressed him. Just he knew, the mistake would not be forgiven in a competition.

A little bit of TMI but I believe Han had vocal cord nodules right before this performance and you can see him talk about this in their behind the scenes video on their CZcams channel. He didn't speak at all the day before the performance and still managed to do so well. I'm so proud of him.
i would HIGHLY recommend to watch the performance named “City of Stars”. It’s with only BangChan and Felix and another girl from Itzy, her name is Lia, and it is ABSOLUTELY beautiful especially Felix’s voice!! I fell like you’d love it! 😊❤️

I want to hug I.N. when he cried. He did great, all of Straykids did really well. BTOB and Melody love their take on IBYM and the fact that they're the first one who covered the song, it will forever be etched in our hearts.
Chan was a trainee for eight years before Stray Kids did their survival show. He had a lot of people in the company who knew him, he is close to Twice members. I have a feeling that he learned the self-training with the help of all the jyp trainees. I couldn't even imagine watching trainees you train with become idols before you. But I'm so glad that he became the leader of Stray Kids.

I love this performance.
Changbin's incredible rapping and Felix's devil's whisper. SEUNGMIN and HAN's amazing vocals and CHAN and LEE KNOW's beautiful falsetto.
and I.N's small mistake coincided with the sad story of this performance, making the emotions more dramatic.
This stage, which tells the story of them who saved the boy by selling their soul to the devil, was so beautiful.
And Chan's words to comfort I.N, who was crying, were so sweet and soft.
Chan's note at the end when Han/Seungmin/ Changbin were singing always seems to get cut off because everyone is talking about the other 3. I feel like that layer added even more to the ending.
I literally today (listening to it for the n-tieth time) realised it was Bang Chan doing that high note at the end. What a talented man I swear.

Chan is such an amazing leader I think he is one of the best leaders I have seen so far , he works so hard in writing producing and singing But still has so much to give to the members .I also love Changbin’s part he went so hard and like you said in the video it helps build to such a crescendo it was amazing 😻
When I watched the Full Cam version of this performance it made me cry when HAN and Seungmin cheered each other by touching it's others hands first before singing together! Their teamwork is really strong
Han isn't my Bias, but Han is the strongest Member in StrayKids. The strengh of his Voice alone. Its so strong, loud and clear. He can sing incredibly fast, on the same Time delivers the sweetest Songs. He writes such incredible Lyrics. He may hate moving around and rather stays at Home all Day, but that doesnt hinder him from being an amazing Dancer with his own Style.
4 Years ago he acted as if hes the greatest Superstar and laughs about it today, but he actually is.
Straykids did an amazing job! BTOB’s songs are known to be vocally challenging having 4 amazing vocalists but they did the song justice especially Han. I really liked his tone.
Bang Chan part is special in this song, his voice is soo beautiful, and Lee Know's part also, he has a very gentle voice and his falsetto is so sweet! I love what you said about I.N's last part, he nailed it, the verse comes out so emotional and is absolutely perfect! You have to listen Han in "Gone Away" with I.N and Sungmin, seriously, it's heaven.
I literally cried and this makes me so sad every time I see about this bc for me he did it so well, I didn't even notice his "mistake" and personally it fits the song well! and mnet filming him crying was in such bad taste and disrespectful, and they also filmed I.N and chan without his consent ugh sorry i'm so angry again as an I.N biased, i have a lot more to say but i'm not an english speaker and i will not be family friendly i'm here to fight anyone who makes him cry
somehow, for everyone it seems completely not worth to mention or notice, that I.N is singing with a perfect pitch while lying on his back on the ground.... is it just ME who thinks that's hard?
no absolutely not!!!! he was reaching up towards the camera with a hollowed out body and core engaged, its incredibly hard to sing in that position and he KILLED it

I think his back is on a small bench. There’s a scene in the practice rooms he does it while lying on a bench so that when filmed from above the effect looks like he’s falling, so hands and legs floating out and reaching. ALL while singing perfectly too! In the same scene Changbin is actually the one who lies on the bench first and attempts to sing I.N’s part while having his limbs floating and he comments about how hard it is to sing and then I.N lies down on the bench and does it perfectly! Idk why no one brings it up! It’s such a cool thing to see.

This was my favourite performance in the entirety of the show cuz of how raw the emotions were and I was shocked how they used I.N crying for clout. Thank God tho, Chan and the members comforted him.

The theme of the performance is that they decide to sacrifice themselves to return the child (the statue) to life, so they do everything possible so that it would be with them, even if their destiny was to die, in the end they decide to sacrifice themselves and the child returns and in the final scene hugs BangChan, everyone is wearing matching rings including the statue.
Months after their participation in Kingdom they said that their presentation was in honor of Hyunjin who unfortunately could not be at that stage with them, and that is why there were 8 rings and the little boy represented the missing member, a hard and difficult performance understand, but vocally beautiful and priceless in meaning.
I’ve never been this excited in my LIFE omg, This performance Its just…..mindblowing, thanks Kingdom for making this masterpiece HAPPEN and thank you Katriinka for reacting to it 😭❤️😭❤️

The falsetto part was Lee Know. This still is my favorite performance and imagine the anger Stays went through when we watched it live. I was throwing hands with anyone who slightly tried to break down the performance and said may be it was too dark, too sad, singers went off key and judges like uncomplicated storyline. It was rough 😔

soooo the part where you said I.N nailed it... supposedly there is a crack somewhere in his voice that is supposed to be a big mistake? I mean, you are a vocal coach and you saying "I.N nailed that part" was so so good, because I think the same, it sounded amazing, not despite the crack or whatever, it simply sounded amazing. period.
but....voice break can be a stylistic choice? I mean...he was upset about it but...I feel like they inherently made him feel upset about something that was not really an issue. it is really upsetting :(
@@Katriinka I KNOOOW! they shouldn't have made him feel bad about it, but also I think he needs more reassurance and help with how to NOT put so much on himself. believe it or not, that kid still thinks, that his falsetto is not good (listen to his covers and be the judge of that), he still thinks he is not a good dancer (watch a few of his fancams, where he is in the focus while they are performing live), and he keeps putting himself down like that, till today (the last time he said something degrading about himself was actually yesterday, he said, that he's got no talent when it comes to using his body)... sorry, blabbing here, but it hurts so much when he says things like that about himself.

This performance of theirs is my 2nd favorite next to God’s Du Du Du. It gave off like musical theater vibe. Their vocals, facial expressions,everything…just stood out for me. It hurt to see I.N being hard on himself and cried after their performance. They all did such an amazing job!
There are videos on their YT channel dedicated for each of their performances in Kingdom. All of the boys worked hard for it…Han developed nodules while practicing this song too.
Anyway, I really love watching your reactions to the boys. So fun to learn new things about some technical aspects of their singing skills 🥰. Hope you post a reaction video to their Lovestay Song! Saw your comment on that one and I guess they made you emotional as well.

He's mainly a dancer, and at first he didn't hv the power or confidence (?) I think to sing smoothly, so he was put as rapper by jyp to make him stand out more. They're really hard working!

Several months since this performance and each time I see it I have tears, mouth open, goosebumps and my heart is broken. So many emotions. Exactly what we are waiting from Artists. I absolutly adore this performance, especially the very end minutes. And also, the original song is so good. This melting of SKZ and BtoB is incredible. I watched more than 10 times in 1 month
I watch that performance at least once a day, it's so good. I still don't get how they placed so low. A whole crime.
As a Melody (BTOB fandom) of more than 8 years who has listened to this song a thousand times (I'm not even exaggerating - this is one of my favourite song of theirs and it is constant contender to be put on repeat), I was so happy with this performance. I wish they had been placed higher for it, but it made a lot of us Melodys into Stays, so it's a win, I'd say😍
Have you seen the original MV by BTOB? It would be cool if you talked about the differences with this performance, the BTOB original has a very different vibe.
Lee Know sang with Han. I actually wondered if Lee Know was the one who got hated on because of the section but was surprised IN cried instead. INNNIEEEEE.
Imagine if they did try to get an emotional response from Lee Know.... and got some scenes of Lee Know being Lee Know that didn't achieve what they intended
Whatever people might say, choosing this song was a great choice. Everyone was stunned by their vocal performance in real time when this aired. Han had articles written about his unexpected and amazing vocal talent, as well as the others. I'm glad they chose to challenge themselves, and i'm so so proud, they did amazing!

Please react to straykids' neverending story, they don't have the studio recording video but they sang it live in a music show plus that was the first song seungmin and han did harmonization (if i remember correctly 😄).
I keep hearing about I.N's "voice crack" but to me it just expressed pure emotion. One of my favorite things was the other members of other groups saying "isn't he the rapper?!" and "Han is good at everything" plus YES felix's voice mixed with that DEEP bass.... The first time I heard Han and Seungmin harmonizing with changbin rapping behind them I literally cried SO HARD!!! lol
Changbin actually rapped by himself in the end along with han and seungmin what is originally rapped by 2 rappers in the original version by btob …that is pretty amazing!!!

anw since I don't see anyone commenting on it, the part where you commented about I.N's falsetto, that was actually Lee Know/Minho the main dancer. He's the one who sang the chorus with Han while doing a choreo.

By far, my favorite performance in Kingdom. That said, there will always be a few things I can't help but comment on every single time I see someone react to it.
The story they told was so intricate and beautiful. Both when it comes to the emotional aspect and, of course, the performance. So much so that I'm not a bit surprised the judges didn't get it. I'm more surprised they managed to get to work that morning or that they didn't get stuck outside trying to figure out how doors work.
When it comes to Lee Know and his part, I just think their equipment can't handle his awesomenes haah, beyond that though I couldn't begin to explain why Lee Know's voice/falsetto comes off the way it does in this recording. Specially when what I do know is that I have watched other versions from other angles, and it was perfect on them, to me anyway.
It may also cheer you up to know that Lee Know made damn sure to do nothing but criticize MNET basic the whole of Kingdom.. There's footage of it if, like me, you now need the therapy, haha. What was it that he said? "When are the professionals going to come?" 🤣
As for I.N.... MNET lost the last bit of respect that I pretend I held for them with that stunt. There's only one thing I have left to say to the gueen snake now ... I have absolutely no problem with hitting a girl, but at this point, they aren't even worth with my "YO MAMA" jokes.
Last but not least, Channie! That man never ceases to amaze me. It's so obvious that when he and 3RACHA were arranging this piece for the guys, he never had himself in mind. The whole thing focuses on everyone but himself. It's one of the many things I love about him. And every single one of them killed that performance, which tells me that he did a damn good job when he built that group from nothing. 🖤 I would have given anything for them and that performance to have been appreciated, the way it deserved to be, by those running the show. Plus, that voting was BS. Channie should have been enjoying a job unbelievably well done. Not having to console his boys, who should also have been busy being incredibly proud. Instead, I wouldn't be surprised if seeing this stage doesn't give them panic attacks. 😭
Oh, and correct me if I'm wrong, but that beautiful note near the end was Channie. Was it not?
Anyway, I am really truly glad you loved the performance. Their vocals are most definitely underrated. By the way, I have a feeling that the guys would SERIOUSLY adore you. 😊 I know I sure do.
I honestly LOVE the little cracks. It shows me they feel the desperation of the lyrics. They worked their asses off for this performance, and it truly showed.

The part you said I.N was supposed to belt it but went falsetto was actually lee know not I.N and (I think it's supposed to be like that in the original songs too ig?!!!)
The part that I.N "thought" he messed up was the high note at the end after han and seungmin's part but I really didn't think that was a mistake it sounded absolutely gorgeous to me and it fits the theme so well

chans high note (at 9:14 & 14:12 on your video!) is always a lil overlooked but i think he did such a good job too that whole last section is just amazing
Everyone always misses that pretty high note that Bang Chan hits just after Han/Seungmin/Changbin and right before I.N (or just as I.N is coming in). The first time I watched this live on Kingdom, I was struck by it and wondered who it was and then realized it was Chan :)
The level of story telling stray kids and Ateez did in their performances was phenomenal. I know that Ateez’s story was continued through performances but I don’t know much about stray kids storyline. So I couldn’t say that if they continued the story from one performance to other. But I was able to get that stray kids are wolves and Ateez pirates. Sorry I am actually an atiny and watched kingdom late because of them.

This performance was great and I really loved it, but please give a chance to the original performance of this song of BTOB, you will be amazed, and you will feel the real power of the whole vocal line of the group. SK were so brave trying to do this song because is one of BTOB most difficuly one, and they really made a wonderful job, as I saw their respect for BTOB I started to like them too. I am happy that kingdom wasn't a war, instead were built nice friendship between groups.

I was really looking forward to your reaction to this performance! It's honestly one of my favourites from Kingdom and the jury votes didn't do them justice at all. I think they did incredible, specially with such a complicated song. It makes me feel a lot of things, and I'm glad to see that you agree! Seeing I.N feeling bad after the performance really broke everyone's hearts, and Chan's comforting words for him...I love those eight kids so much. I KNEW IT!! I was so mad towards mnet and the “judges” we don’t know of ranking them the lowest because that minor voice crack that is placed so beautifully at the end. It was perfect but I.N had to blame himself for it. And the thing is, the judges didn’t even understand such a meaningful performance with all the prop elements and acting. This masterpiece deserved better😩
