    Any tips for a fresh rider on how to purchase / negotiate all the added equipment? Is there an opportunity to pay in full and get the dealer to throw in some equipment? Any clue what kind of margins they're making on, and their incentive to get a new rider hooked on their store/dealership/etc?

      ohhh buddy. So in my opinion, you should never try to get equipment added into a motorcycle deal, they will find a way to screw you on the cost. In general dealerships are looking for any avenue to overcharge you and make it look like a deal, equipment, especially "parts and install" are a great way to do that. In 2021/2020 there is no incentive for dealerships to care about customers. Powersports are are doing incredible right now because everyone is trying to buy a bike in quarantine. Your best bet is to shop around at different dealers and find the bike that is right for you. If youre looking for a Honda rebel as a first bike, maybe look on the actual used market - craigslist, fb marketplace, etc. and then when you decide to trade up, take it to a dealer. Anyway, ride safe dude and good luck on that bike!

    i have the 2020 rebel and i never felt that i need more power, i live in spain where you cant go faster than 75/mph because we have so many radars, it goes in 6 seconds up to 60 mph and after almost a year with the rebel500, i dont think i will ever need to upgrade any more. i started with a 125cc, then a 250cc and now a 500cc. i think this is my final step , and now the only think would be enjoy the ride till i die. any way , my best choice ever the rebel 500.

    The only thing I dislike about the Rebel and is enough to not sell it to me is that Stone Age dashboard that doesn’t even tell you RPMs. Of course it doesn’t matter anyway because the sun glares the screen. I’m actually looking at the CB650R as my first.

      Ive always found this complaint strange. To me, the whole point of manual transmissions is to give the rider a closer connection to the vehicle. And once you’ve developed that connection, shifting by ear comes naturally.

    Everyone says the 500 is much quicker than the 883 due to the better p/w ratio. Not your findings?

    • @amptv2291
      @amptv2291  Před 3 lety +2

      After this video my brother and I rode for 4-5 hours and I didn’t notice it having any acceleration advantage. We both are about the same height/weight (6’/195#) so maybe we are just to big for the 500 to really let it open up. Definitely a fun little bike though, if it’s anywhere close to being on your list, you should test ride it.

      The rebel has been recorded beating the 883 in over 20 videos I've seen.....in the 1/4 mile up to 3/4 mile. Once up to top gear, eventually the 883 does pass it.
      But the Honda still wont be leaking oil all over you 🤙🤙🤙

      Haha I knew I was going to get called out eventually on that comment. I really do like the signaling Harleys do vs everyone else. Clearly I’m biased these days. Ride safe bud. The 500 is a slick machine either way

    for a review for a honda, there is alot of harley talk
    awesome review otherwise

      Very fair man. At the time I had a Harley 883 which was one of the biggest “first bike “ choices compared to the rebel 500. At this point I would probably keep it full on the Honda! Great entry bike, and a great fun bike to whip around on for sure anyway!

  • @geraldscott4302
    @geraldscott4302 Před 2 lety

    Rebel is junk. Get the 883, and keep it forever. H-D is about to drop it from their lineup, and it is the last real Harley out there, since they put the smooth quiet very un Harley like M8 engine in their full sized models. Get one while you can. It is a FAR better investment than that crappy Rebel. The only "gear" you actually need is a full face helmet, and you can get a good one for under $150.

      I don’t disagree. At this point, I can see the 300 being used for training, but the 500 might be irrelevant

    • @TheAlibabatree

      @@amptv2291 No way. The 500 is the best seller of the 3 for a reason. Its about 4k less than the 1100, and it can do pretty much the same things.

      @@TheAlibabatree except get up to speed on a highway . My opinion has changed a bit overall, I still think the 500 is a top of the line starter bike in the US market. but I dont think the 1100 is a good step up, Id recommend an indian or harley before the 1100.

    • @TheAlibabatree

      @@amptv2291 Yes, it definitely depends on the location. I used to live in Iowa, and i had no trouble driving my old 250 on the highways there. Now that i live in a bigger city in Florida, i knew i needed at least a 500. It does fine on the highways here, but I’m sure there are places where it wouldnt cut it.
