@@Trygvar13 Agreed; the problem is that bassists tend to be in the shadow of leads (Blackmore especially comes to mind, and loads of others in HM) but I'm a fan of Geezer, (and of course Jack Bruce and Geddy Lee as multi-talented artists in their own right). I'm not an L42 aficionado, their type of music is usually too 'safe' for me; I much prefer something with more of an edge to it, hence the metal thing.
This is exactly why Maiden don't do thatmuch interviews: the showhosts don't understand one tiny bit of their music. How great a legend Steve is amongst the best bassplayers around the world. How it is to play that kind of shows above the age of 60. Maiden have consistently played heavy metal for more than 45yrs and have a HUGE worldwide fanbase! And they always stayed faithful to their music and fans. No compromises! Up the Irons!

He stopped to say hello and let us take pictures. I wanted to be Steve Harris at the time. When I got my picture with him, my grin was so exaggerated, I ruined the picture. I'll always remember how nice he was with our little group.
Yes, I love hearing Steve, and he is genuinely the nicest person, but the male interviewer was all kinds of ignorant regarding Maiden. Plus Steve was there to promote the BL tour. On behalf of all American Maiden/SPH/BL fans, I apologize for our press.
Brad Grant I think their audience don’t know who Maiden is, so with that in mind it was a good interview. It’s a massive step up above the record burnings of the past. After all Maiden has gotten close to zero media attention in the US as a whole.
I don't think ignorant is fair. He was asking genuinely and held on to every word. He says he's not a metalhead so he was having a conversation with no context.
It's so typical of such clueless interviewers showing surprise when heavy metal musicians are actually very calm, collected and not the bunch of loud and obnoxious monsters they're expecting. And yeah...no mention of his bass playing and of the fact that he's the founder and the principal songwriter of Maiden. What a great interview. Maiden come from my home town in London. I saw Maiden in their first gig at the Cart and Horses pub in Stratford East London back in 1976. I was friends with the singer. Then I was friends with their second singer Paul Dianno. Great day's 😁👍

Man, I wish that someone like Howard Stern would interview Bruce Dickinson. That is a host who does his homework and ask real questions that if you are a fan, you learn so much more than you ever knew and if you aren’t, you become one.

Steve is always great, but these interviewers are really bad. You could see the look in his eyes as they stumbled through such lame useless pointed questions. Steve is a legend, this interview was insulting to him.
All I can say is that it looks like Steve drew the shortest straw this time round. But he did his bit and got thru this painful experience with style and grace.
This was sweet. Whilst politely answering inane questions from uninformed interviewers, Steve Harris earned more in album sales, publishing and royalties than aforesaid interviewers make a year.
Steve Harris is such a really cool guy so quiet and gentle, it’s no wonder he’s so talented. Humble and a genuine person. He’s the heart and soul of Iron Maiden and a superb bass guitarist and legendary songwriter.

Steve Harris is a real class act! I posted a comment on his Facebook post and I included a drawing from my 12 year old daughter. She drew a fantastic drawing of Eddie the I.M. Mascot and within a few minutes he private messaged me to tell me how talented my daughter is and we ended up chit chattering for a while. He then gave me is personal contact information and we ended up talking for a few hours. He’s a wonderful person and he really cares about his fans. Up The Irons! 🤘
I met Steve when I was 15, he went out of his way to come and speak to us when we saw him at reading in 2005. Just saw maiden the other night, stop going strong ❤

Thought I was seeing things and had too much to drink. Just shows how down to earth he is and how much he appreciates his fans. No wonder I could not pull that night!

For most of my peer metal bass players it was Cliff Burton who made them learn bass... for me it was Steve Harris.
