  • Steve Harris just proved what we kind of always knew about him, and once again hinted on what might be the future of Iron Maiden.
    Steve Harris is a beast, who goes around the world touring with one of the biggest Metal bands to ever walk the Earth, while spending his days off performing with his other band British Lion and playing football. And in the recent interview with Sweden Rock, which passed by almost unnoticed by many, Steve once again proved that it has never really been only about business for him, hinting on what might the future hold for him and Iron Maiden.

      The constant travelling is very demanding. Most people are physically tired at 60+ years of age. This is the main reason Tom Araya wanted Slayer to stop. The 1-2 hours of the show are very rewarding, but you have to spend most of the time waiting while on tour.

    Steve and the rest of Maiden have earned the right to do whatever the hell they want to do. They have given so much and been ( still ) at the forefront of REAL live music and albums. Anyone that enjoys metal on any level at all should be grateful for them. If they want to retire,so be it. If they want to keep going in any form whatsoever,so be it. We punters will be there. Steve IS Iron Maiden. Seriously. He'll keep it going as long as he wants with whomever he wants. If Bruce leaves, he'll get a new singer. If Dave or Adrian leave, he'll get new guitarists. Nicko too. It's ALWAYS been that way. Much like ACDC is Angus. And he'll keep going too.

    • @doublestrokeroll
      @doublestrokeroll Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@naur87 Possible, but I seriously doubt it. Maiden has always been "his" and virtually only his. He's never once hesitated to replace anyone. Fans have overly romanticized ideas about bands like Maiden. Thinking it's more equal than it really is. I have no doubt Steve is friends with them, but they are basically his employees and always have been. Especially a guy like Bruce.
      Steve will always want to play his songs at that level. Not just clubs. Just like the Stones didn't stop when Charlie died, like everyone thought. The Stones are Kieth and Mick and that's it. If Ronnie leaves they'll just keep going with someone else. Only they can end the band. And they don't seem to want to. Same with Steve in my opinion. His loyalty is to the music and to the name Iron Maiden. Not to anyone in the band.

    I saw MAIDEN 18 times from the very first tour on up! Unbelievable! All those Classic tours! It’s wild looking back and realizing that I actually did all that. That’s just ONE band! I’ve seen A LOT of the other, badass, Classic, Hard Rock & Heavy Metal bands numerous times from the beginning at the very start when all this happened. I was the right age, in the right city, at the right time and had the right taste in loud music. My city was a Heavy Metal epicenter, San Antonio, TEXAS! RUSH played here on their very first tour because we were on to them from day one. We are a RUSH stronghold their entire career. Many of the big bands knew we were a hot audience from the beginning. EVERYONE toured here! If the band brought it, we brought it! We were industry famous. My concert list is stupid ridiculous. Pretty much all I did starting in the late 70’s, all through the power 80’s and into the 90’s. So many shows! Unbelievable!

    I am only 51 but I live near a lot of people 67 and up. Steve Harris makes all of them seem like they are a hundred years old compared to him. We should all be so fortunate to remain kick ass at his age!

    yeah and not only it's not only about buisness but he also get it from a fan point as I never saw him refuse an autograph to anyone, he always make sure everyone gets one and assuming you approach him nicely and not jump after him like a madman he will take a couple of minutes for you like he knows he's able to have this dream life because of us and he really seem to be grateful for that. Met him several times and he was always smiling and taking the time. A legend, great musician and a fantastic human being.

    Imagine being in one of the biggest bands in the world. Headlining the largest festivals and owning the biggest stages but still happy to go belt out a set in a pub/club for the love of it.
    What a legend! Protect this man at all costs. \m/

    I don't think any of them will call it quits. As long as they're still able to play their instruments at a high level, they will continue. KK Downing of Priest retired and regretted it. I don't think these guys will overlook his mistake. But, a guy like Glenn Tipton, who still wants to play, is unable due to physical disabilities. He has no choice but to retire. He hates it. Even Adrian Smith saw the error of his ways when he hung it up, and now they have 3 guitarist. It's in their blood

    • @Nghilifa
      @Nghilifa Před 10 měsíci +2

      Adrian didn't quit though. He had his own projects going in the early 90s (Psycho Motel) and then he joined Bruce for two albums (Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding).

    Steve always talked very little, even in the band's interviews. I think he will be able to play at the highest levels for several years yet. But the big Iron Maiden's concern is Nicko as he recently had a stroke and nobody knows for how long he still would be able to play with the band.

    Very cool video. Yeah. Steve has such passion for music and performing. To ask him to retire is like asking on to stop breathing. If he stops performing, he'll die. The question is, "Can the other lads of Iron Maiden keep up with this mad lad?"
    During the Napster debates, Steve questioned what the big deal was about. He claimed to have the largest bootleg collection of music. Checking out other bands is how Steve and The Sheriff of Huddersfield himself Rod Smallwood discovered Bruce Bruce and thus secretly recruited him under a lamp in the middle of a club.
    Steve Harris even met Babymetal and Lovebites among other more recent acts. The picture of Steve with Miho is awesome. Iron Maiden has been influencing bands from Metallic and Anthrax to Lovebites and Nemophila.
    If we can establish a Heavy Metal Hall of Fame then Iron Maiden should be in the inaugural class.
    Heck. They almost got a mention in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 but were relegated to a deleted scene. It's on the Blu-ray.

    Steve's got a few years on me (I hasten to add that I think he's in much better nick, though) but I have a feeling that some of his mindset originates from where we're both from. I recognise it. It's a particular type of grafting that's part of our cultural identity.
