Nice tournament or championship, nice to see some Europeans can match or reach nearly finals to face Chinese, WCQ has a very bright future if he keeps that way, and Truls is a very promising player for Europe or Sweden, he reached two big finals or at least one big final and here too this season, more to come, hope more success to those and good luck to others, and thank you ITTF or WTT, we want to watch more of this sooner or later.

Truls Moregard is like an anime protagonist. He gets better so fast just by playing better players. He has developed so much since Houston and will continue to do so. I think that the way he is working on finding his own game and not copying anyone else is the way to succes. You cant beat the chinese by playing their way. They will always have the upper hand.
Do u watch full matches? Go ahead and watch truls full matches. He is not finding or building his own game. His major gameplay is to intimidate the opponent by throwing rackets or wrongfully pointing out that their services are foul and shouting loudly, and once opponent gets angry, he takes points. See all his recent matches. Whole matches. Not these highlights.

Moregard is special, he surprised Wang with his shot selection time and time again, that’s why Wang was not as consistent as he usually is. Still, Wang was able to be the aggressor and therefore there was only one possible outcome. A well deserved title for Wang. Everyone must be happy that Fan is not here.

Third set the tactical order against Chuqin was very effective to create errors: forehand short, backhand long followed by forehand or backhand long. This was the key.
Truls need to be able to control his mood more. As his coach Perrson needs to teach him more than just how to earn points.
people keep saying this blah blah blah, but a bit of controlled aggression venting can be very helpful. Truls is getting better all the time. No one said this after he beat the #3 chinese whatever his name is.
Truls is a young arrogant player won’t go to far with his tabel tennis career. Very unfortunate Swedish team willing to invest in him. He need to learn how to respect people d understand he is representing his country.
To control his temper is to earn points. Especially the crucial points. Persson was really good at that.

Truls was clearly overmatched in speed and power and was fully aware of it, so it's commendable that he kept his head in the game and kept deliberately trying to vary and control the pace.
True, WCQ is clearly faster. But it was very close and could have gone other way around. Truls is a obviously smarter player in ball placement and ball variation with better reflexes and touch than WCQ. For me his play is much more enjoyable to watch. He has improved further recently. I predict that he will beat WCQ in the near future.

@@killseacocks You are missing the point. Truls already overcame Liang Jinkun to reach the finals and he showed vs wcq that when on form, he can play at the highest level. I have tremendous respect for the CNT. They are the clear favourites of course but Truls, just like koki niwa can show truly inspirational and unconventional play which is difficult to prepare against. One should also not underestimate the incredible preassure of defending chinese national pride against someone who at times plays so strangely.

没错。乒乓球是靠稳定的主动上手进攻才能赢球的运动。
Great match no matter who wins. Truls need to cool down more throwing a paddle when losing a point is not a good sportsmanship's in my opinion. I remembered Wang ChuQin was discipline by the Chinese TT organization for throwing his paddle during a tournament when he lost think it came out better for him to be more compose and learn to control himself.
at 11:06 maybe WCQ was telling Truls, "you gotta keep your cool bro, don't end up like me and get banned for a year"
Agree! Wang doesn't do that as often as Moregard but the last time he did that, he threw his racket toward his opponent. That is why Wang was suspended. If Moregard does that, I bet he will be suspended too.
He was banned for 3 months and then covid started. That's why his ranking is low.

The big difference on the match was the server of Wang Chuquin, Truls Moregard was serious troubles with.
Moregard needs more guards
ITTF should specify service rules and embrace them.
"From the start of service until it is struck, [...], and it shall not be hidden from the receiver by the server or his or her doubles partner or by anything they wear or carry."
There are clearly moments where Wang's head is in front of the ball. I don't blame him for doing it when umpires don't punish it, but if it can't be determined if the ball was visible then it should be voted in favor of the receiver imo.
These big tournaments need extra service referees behind the players.
Completely agree! I think this is the point Truls keeps trying to make to the umpire and it clearly affected him both in losing points and in losing focus out of frustration over facing an illegal serve.
Wang did a great job here, Truls was too inconsistent

Liang Jingkun lost against him and he didn’t throw the racket or he wasn’t mad about it. I think Truls should focus on his mental strenth if he wants to become a better player.

I like when they have a strong character like Zhang Jike (remember, he tore out his T-shirt ?) or WCQ (who threw his bat), I like when they are kind and show sportmanship like Timo, I like when they are cool like Lin Yun Ju.
Now you can argue that both Zhang and WCQ gained control on their mental, but do they have the choice if they want to belong the CNT ?

You need to contact the ball outside the table when serving , and Wang did.
Moregard didn't blow up in this match. Moregard made too many mistakes. Wang Chuqin was more solid on offense. I think his performance in this match was good but not yet in the same class as Ma Long or Fan Zhendong.
In my opinion this isnt even contest since 95 percent of points first topspin is from Wang. Truls can be a good blocker but never can blocker be a top 3 player, atleast in my opinion.
Wondering why fan didn't play this tournament?
Accoording to media, Fan Zhendong chose to stay at home spending the time on improving the weaknesses he thinks existing in his technics. No one can threaten his WTT ranking even if he gives out some tournaments like this one.

А зачем, при такой игре слева смысла нет. Все эти под_ёбы-подбросы-недочопы работают только на европейцев и, может, разочек удивить китайца, далее - статистически эта игра ведет к провалу. Поэтому, либо Трульс меняет игру слева (делает такой же клёвой как справа), либо так и останется околотопом.
@@Aleksandr-be5ud Трулс развивается. Сейчас его техника и подачи не достаточно эффективны для топ 10, но если улучшит, то тогда посмотрим. Ещё недавно он стоял и из-за этого проигрывал. А сейчас вполне быстро двигается и в средней зоне что-то может.
Скорее вопрос сможет он улучшить то, что есть? Китайцы найдут подобного игрока или подготовят для спаррингов. Они уже так делали против Тимо Бола.

Truls said to a Swedish reporter that he was so angry because the opponent started making a few serves that were hidden and illegal to see if the referee would not notice. And that the referee was sleeping on the job. Anyone know the time stamp of that in this video?

moregard has very terrific defense, but I don't know howcome that he made errors on some good/easy opportunity attacks. From his smile face thought the whole match, a good sign of his mentality psyche which is important whenever intensity heats up.yes, he showing good sign of it. but howcome hit some silly long ball out of the table, and hitting some easy ba;; undernet????
Truls is developing his balance between creativity and designed creativity. Once he fine tunes his mind to a designed creativity, ala Ma Long, who is extremely creative when he needs to be, he will have a win against WCQ. WCQ said in the post interview, he had to stay very mentally focused against Truls. That is a good sign for Truls because it means WCQ is being tested. I am sure Jorgen will be developing Truls body and MIND in this department.
I was surprised that Moregard wasn’t as rude as he usually is during this match. Good to see that he’s learning to control his temper and be polite to his components. And Congratulations to Chuqin!
I saw the match in person he was quite upset and was trying to argue with the umpire and the umpire had to ask him to play at least 3 times. WTT just didn't show that. You can see that he also tried to start a discussion with WCQ at the end, but he wasn't having any of it.

It wasn’t audible, but I’ve seen people say that it was about WCQs service.
Truls is very creative and unpredictable, however, chinese national team trains harder and the players play more efficiently and calmly, resulting in better scores and overall perormance
Never liked Truls so far but today was awesome. Two “bad boys” playing each other. Love the finish. Truls would have deserved to win. His time will come to beat more Chinese players. WCQ congrats. Fantastic tournament.
Truls won’t have much chance winning any more Chinese national player. His poor behavior, bad sportsmanship, arrogant attitude won’t help his game at all. He wont go too far with his tabel tennis career.

@@joecool91306 WCQ lost his temper. Git banned by Chinese team. Improved his attitude. Now improved. I think his bad temper and clever game adjustment actually will win him some championships also against Chinese. Is it the right way? Of course not. But some people need this sadly enough to get in the fighting spirit.
Wang was hiding his serves. The umpire should be noted or the Swedish coach should be mentioned. When the ball was dropped on the descent below Wang's shoulder, he was tilting on the side so it was entirely hidden.
ITTF needs to have various angles to ensure fairness. Otherwise, if your professionals cannot even serve properly, how on earth can you enforce such BASIC RULES?????

Changing the camera angles mid rally is such a poor decision... I'm once again really disappointed by the video team. The boll is moving fast enough, thank you. I don't need another challenge while watching. Also why the need for close up before every serve? You think it looks professional, but it's really silly. You can't see any movement from start to finish which really sucks for those who want to analyse the technique.

I think it was quite interesting, because Wang's "push" serve didn't seem legal to me either, and it really might have changed the whole outcome of the match
they were legal. as long as the ball contact is visible. unlike Lebesson for exemple.

Apparently the judge disagree with his opinion. And throwing a racket at opponents is definitely illegal.
@tonyxxx the umpires think it's not illegal, but truls has a very hard time reading the spin of the serve. That's one of the reasons he lost the match.
@tonyxxx I have never seen him return serves this badly. He even complained to the umpire about the serve. I think it's quite clear that he couldn't see the contact.
Ok now. There are three guys (you know who) from Chinese national team that can beat Truls Moreguard rather comfortably by 4:1 or 4:0 , in spite that all of them have much better fundamentals but less street smart and tricky shots. If (not sure yet) Truls is treated, studied and researched like Harimoto, he will have less chance of beating them. Make no mistake, he is NO Waldner ! Let us be real!!
You are right, he is not Waldner. He is Truls, his own creative force. Once Jorgen gets his mind to have designed creativity instead of just innate creativity, watch out. Truls will beat these guys once in a while. I'll even go as far as twice in ONE year. Bottom line, Truls knows how to make it to the finals. That counts for ALOT. Now he just has to win one against the top Chinese. Which WILL happen.

Конечно стремная)) В 3 финалах уже побывал за год на крупнейших турнирах. Медленной ракеткой из дальней зоны он бы как играл? Да и чоп-блоки нормально он ставит, думаю все там нормально с контролем.

No digas que la tire.! Y para ser más lenta ,podría poner unas gomas menos rápidas.Es hacer una buena combinación gomas madera .Las que hago yo son de una lámina gruesa o de tres laminas ,dos finas exteriores.y en este partido fue más rápido y preciso el jugador chino y merecidamente.

Wang Chuqin's serve are illegal imo.
His starting position is next to the table and when he throws the ball up, the ball is already over the white line and when he hits it, it's definitely over the line.
Body and ball should be behind the white line before contact.
Please stop filming this bad angle. No coach would prefere this angle. Every other sport - tennis, Badminton, squash- film from behind.

Truls's receiving is very bad.
In my opinion his receive is very variable and dangerous. He takes high risks for it so he made a lot of mistakes.
He is probably one of the best receiver of serves in the game with so much variations but he did struggle with Wang's serves in this game.

Tbh truls complaining about WCQ serve killed the whole vibe of the final match. You could see the expression change of WCQ as well. I can understand that there were a few serves which were a bit problematic from WCQ but truls took it too far with his complains. Almost felt like watching a grown kid whine about losing points. I think truls played the first few games really well and could have done better if he wasn't too focussed of complaining but rather on his gameplay.
