Seeing young Rick die instead of Diane. And knowing this is what Morty is imagining, has me thinking that Rick has drunkenly cried to Morty about wishing he could take Diane's place.

I don’t think Rick would have needed to explicitly convey that to Morty for him to realize part of Rick felt that way. He’s capable of empathy. It’s not very deep, speculation-wise, to know that.

Diana having a hard time coping with the concept of the multiverse, and there being multiple versions of her loved ones shows just how much we’ve gotten used to the multiverse concept in this show. She went through What Morty did back in season one, just without the dramatic music and editing.
She's not real so it's not that deep
Turn to Christ, and repent and turn from all sin and unprofitable things, so you can be forgiven and seen righteous in his eyes, to the only one that matters. The fact that Rick being an Illusion too but not affected by the simulation glitch is terrifying. The hole guy really knows how to hide on plain sight and convince both the Viewers and Morty.
It really is a shame Rick Prime wiped Diane from all of existence she could've added a lot to Rick & Morty.
Nah... If they would have tried penciling her in sooner probably would have been like, "We DoNt CaRe AbOuT cOnTiNuItY." Frankly, Rick and Morty's slow decline is the best thing that happened for it's growth. Not sure if it'll ever be 100 ironed out though. Might be worth waiting to see if a season 8 is really what the show needs.

I think next season Rick will break his rule of time travel to bring her back. Odds are ot will be revealed that Rick Prime planned for this to happen and wanted it to happen which is how evil morty was able to beat him and he taunted Rick as he was dying
Rick is gonna re-engineer Booger Aids v2 to bring people back to life, try to live with his Diane after she comes back, realize it isn't what he thought it would be like, and return to Prime Morty then maybe meet a Diane just as jaded as he is to replace his Diane.
My source is that I made it up based on assumptions of how these episodes usually go.
And this is where my tinfoiled hat comes in...Yes Rick Prime wiped Diane from every universe, but how far is that reach? Is it throughout truly every universe or just the ones within the Central Finite Curve? If it's the latter that means that Diane is still alive just in the universes where Rick is NOT the smartest being there.
Even if this wasnt real and part of Mortys inner fear I truly feel sorry for Rick and I really liked seeing him and Diane have some last moments together to allow us to understand what their relationship was like. This episode was great and overall Season 7 is probably one of the best seasons of show in a while

SEE, This is why I wish the staff behind the show actually did the easiest and most practícal thing (I don't know, something like a Christmas Carol style episode showing Rick's Past; or have her meet Rick in a afterlife or Stable Time loop Time travel or something like that) instead of having to do barrel rolls blindfolded like This one that they have to confirm somewhere else that "Yes, she was a recreation, but basically a perfect recreation", just because they want to be subversively creative, while commiting a different variant of very same cliches they often mock just for the sake of making the plot go the way they want (Say "ALL variants and alternate universe counterparts of Diane are gone from The multiverse, so no way to bring her back) but still want to have their Cake and eat it

Hearing Rick say "You're the only thing I can't replace" speaks VOLUMES. He can do anything, he is essentially limitless in his power. But he can't bring back the one thing he wants, and it torments him, because she is burned out of time and all existence everywhere.

I dont think it should’ve felt like the Unity episode because back then, he wasn’t toxic he was willing to become a family man if his science didn't make a breakthrough. Unity was saying he couldn’t change and practically said he *was* toxic and left him Diane wouldn’t have done that because he wasn’t
This episode really made me want more Rick and Diane interactions.... Even though none of it was real, the Fear Hole scenes of them together was so interesting to see.

3:23 I think this is the ONLY time we’ve seen this kind of vulnerable expression on Rick ever. Granted it’s Morty’s imagination but I like to think that Rick would only be this vulnerable for Diane.
I honestly loved that we learned more about Diane.
Threw the flashbacks we only got a little taste - a loving mother who supports her husband.
I always thought that Rick fell for her innocence and lovely character but realizing that she is also really smart and badass was very interesting.
In this episode everybody truly understand why Rick fell for her.

I think what scared Morty so much about this situation is that the adventures he and Rick would go on would probably become sparse. Their entire identity as a duo would be compromised as Rick originally was willing to give up science just to be with his family. So in Morty's perspective he no longer has a purpose in this new life.

We really got to know about how they first met and fell in love. Rick said they met while he working for the FEDS. So I'm guessing Rick was a scientist working for the government and Diana was a FBI agent or secretary.

Honestly, it all depends on what the writers want for Rick, I mean… it showed he actually considered going into the hole to see a version of Diane who is from his memories in there but he considered Morty’s warnings about the hole and didn’t go in, but he is still grieving, even though he killed his wife killer, he still has to think; who is he without the revenge, the anger, the hatred and the guilt of her death. And he had the chance to go into the hole but he didn’t, perhaps there could be a way to extract whatever version the hole is by having her exist as a sentient memory like they did for Birdperson’s memory Rick who lives in Rick’s mind… but who knows… the Omega Device erased the versions of the target but it didn’t erase the memories, the evidence of the being. Who knows what could happen if Rick brought her sentient memory inside him back as a human… would it erase her immediately or would something else happen. Ik the Diane robots existed but they were ones who appeared and spoke like her… not the real Diane who appeared just like her in every way.

It's pretty interesting how we get to see why Rick got together with Diane in the first place, she was a lot like Unity. Basically just an absolute party animal that could take way more than your average human, which seems to be Ricks type.

Doubt it. The writers REALLY want to commit to the story being about Rick moving on rather than use the many ways they have to bring her back (and in fact seem committed to destroy the ways they have to bring her back so the fandom stops asking)

The Diane we see and her relationship with fake Rick is pretty close to the real deal since Morty got many of Rick's memories when Evil Morty blew up the Citadel (ending of some season, don't remember which).

Dianne was a great character, I'm glad they finally had the courage to give her a big part. I hope we'll see her again in season 8.
This episode was so good. The twist at the end was so satisfying and terrifying at the same time.
I was confused when I saw this too. But it’s not real. It’s only just a simulation of Diane. They were still inside the Hole. And you know, this also reminds of that one simulation episode they had back in Season 1, only this time now, Morty is real.
The way Sarah chalke says mom makes my skin crawl and just makes that moment hit that much harder.
Them pointing out that Rick's ship has the same voice as Diane and now I can't unhear it
Rick wasn't scared of messing things up with diane or even bring with her again a second time , he was scared of having to lose her again and wouldn't be able to bear that pain
Time travel to get her back guaranteed.

i like how hard the hole actually tried to reveal Morty's greatest fear to him, and it ended up taking the most on-the-nose attempt to get him to admit it.
As Summer once said, Morty slowly, but eventually catches on.

Last two time loop episodes were the best ones I’ve ever seen
Season 7 is by far my favourite season of the series
I had a lot of reservations about this season because of the Justin roiland debacle. The voices were jarring at first and I had really low expectations of where the show was gonna go with such a dramatic casting change. That being said I’m so glad I stuck it out, this was easily the most complex and vulnerable season of the show. Really cool to see the character development between Rick and morty and Rick himself. The last episode could not have been better imo.
Considering that she was erased via the "omega-device" which erased all existences of an entity. It stands to reason that the alpha-device would be able to create or bring anyone into existence.
The alpha device would just be a cloning vat
