    TAB, love the channel. I've had a 2022 Taycan RWD 93kWh for a little over a year and ~15k miles. Love the car, build and handling - including a wonderful 4,000 mile trip from NY to Austin, TX and back with no issues at all. BUT NOW... it's been at the local dealer since Oct 12th [yup going on 4 weeks] with 2 battery cells (of the nearly 400 in the car) causing a fault. Porsche can't quite decide what to do with it. Replacing 2 of the cell modules (there are ~33 in the car) is not something the local Porsche center has ever done and requires a fancy piece of equipment they don't even have. So maybe another month in the shop. Every heard of anything like this before? Happy to chat more.

      Good luck I’m on month three. You will have to have a specialized shop Forman fly out to your dealership to do the cell swap. Some dealerships are specialized for it however they still won’t let them do it without the shop Forman from Atlanta being there

      Is it water ingress? Your car is about the right time for the APB2 recall if it's after sep '22. Hope they get it sorted soon. An ICE engine swap is faster...

    Signed papers for a 02.2022 Taycan. Words cant describe how incredible the car was when I test drove it. As a German car enthusiast since childhood, I always loved Porsche and in January I will be taking delivery. The worry arises when the warranty has expired, and you find it's nearly impossible to sell because hardly anyone is buying privately. I would be hesitant to purchase used with mileage above 20,000 purely because you have no way of knowing the condition of the battery. For example, has it been charged using a fast charger, and how has that affected the battery depletion and the overall range?

    Yes I was one of the early adopters. Ordered a 4S the day it was announced and had a 2020 model. Did I have trouble, oh yes. Main battery replaced, controlling electronics also, heater and numerous recalls. Did I love the car? You bet. Was everything fixed? Yes. Have I sold the car? Yes, only because my Taycan GTS ST had arrived.

    I had planned to purchase one of these last week until I realised that if you opt for 21-inch wheels, an additional £5000 expenditure is required to acquire 20-inch winter wheels, as only summer tyres are available for 21-inch wheels. This is unless you wish to drive throughout the year with summer tyres, potentially endangering yourself and others. Moreover, with 15 years of no claims, I would be faced with a car insurance cost in the thousands. Now that you've highlighted these issues, which are genuinely helpful, it has completely dissuaded me from considering the Taycan, especially since I reside 60 miles from the dealership. Additionally, the uncertainties of long-term issues once the warranty has expired, and the exorbitant cost of fixing these cars, further raise concerns. If I'm paying a premium price for a car, I certainly do not expect any problems. I really don't see the appeal or positives with EVs overall, and I've delved into researching them extensively over two weeks. Initially, I was considering it as a company car, but the depreciation outweighs the benefit for capital allowance. Moreover, selling EVs privately seems nearly impossible. Once you purchase an EV, be prepared to keep it forever or sell it for a fraction of its value because nobody is buying these cars privately, hence the depreciation. The EV market is far from ready. It's madness.

    • @TABonTV
      @TABonTV  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Appreciate the comment. Yes, with your situation it sounds like it wouldn't quite work right now. Revisit it in the future when hopefully everyone's had time to adjust to EVs.

    • @pjroberts2010
      @pjroberts2010 Před 6 měsíci

      I might give it another go this week, but I'll negotiate hard with the dealer for a 10% reduction. Currently, I can secure a Taycan at £60k with numerous extras, brand new, and considering the tax benefits, I find it appealing as it covers depreciation for the initial year or two. Personally, I want to avoid the hassle of owning an unreliable car, which is the biggest turn-off for me.
      I firmly believe that electric vehicles (EVs) represent the future, and as technology advances, both the vehicles and batteries will see significant improvements. I anticipate a drop in battery prices this year for manufacturers, potentially leading to a reduction in overall vehicle prices. Eventually, as manufacturers phase out combustion engines, the depreciation pattern we currently see with EVs might shift towards used combustion vehicles, as people make the switch.
      Despite these positive aspects, I still harbor doubts about the feasibility of a complete ban on combustion engines by 2035. I personally view it as a potential scare tactic to drive sales, and with each new government, there might be a continuous postponement of the deadline by five years or more.
      On a personal note, I find your videos highly informative. Many individuals who own expensive items, such as vehicles, tend to avoid mentioning any drawbacks. Therefore, I truly appreciate the honesty in your content.@@TABonTV

    Have a Turbo S. for last 3 years. Very fast, tight, comfortable. Interior great. Good space as well. 12V failed leading to PCM replacement. Heater failed too, now replaced. Total of 20 weeks at Porsche mainly due to lack of parts (PCM specifically). A lot of car for £65-75K and 5000 miles on clock. Pricing has been a disaster and has fallen off a cliff, so as you say good value to be had for a Hypercar. New Taycan has 360-420 range Vs 190-210 miles on current model.

    Absolute no brainer to buy the warranty.
    Not only with a Taycan but anything new.

      Take WBAC values with a pinch of salt.
      Whilst a good a good tool for valuing the generic stuff, it only indicates their appetite to purchase that particular vehicle at that time, its not representative of the market as a whole.
      It also doesn’t take into consideration configurations I.e a maroon Taycan with a red interior, small wheels no pano roof and chrome bits isn’t going to sell well in the general market. Also, optional extras, which on porsche can be considerable are not taken into consideration either and can impact values massively.
      A more accurate way is to obtain an offer from porsche (though expect a kick in the balls) or try motorway where you upload the full details onto their portal and dealers bid for your car, that said in my experience they’re terrible to deal with.

    What year is your taycan turbo S? I have a 2020 TTS manufactured in June and there is a dreaded rattle on the upper driver side door where the plastic cap meets the window. There's another rattle around the sport chrono clock are vent. These rattles happen mostly when I'm in Sport Plus mode as the body becomes quite stiff or when there is bassy music at level 15+. Another issue is when I back into a parking space, I hear a creak coming from the frontal area. Might be a squeeky control arm. Finally, black screens in the middle of driving sessions usually 3-5 mins after leaving the house or intermittent flickers of the screen as if it was reset but quickly turned back on again (happened after I updated the software ). Taking to car in tomorrow to get the rattles out after finally identifying the exact point and stuffing the door card gaps between the metal panel and plastic with foam pieces. Blank screen has been updated before with new software but still happens. Squeeky reverse is hard to replicate and never shows up when I'm at the dealer. Other than that, appreciating the car the longer I own it after 7-8000km. Was a little underwhelmed at first coming from a tesla but fully appreciating the handling and the sheer power that mimics a high horse powered N/A. Thought about selling it for a Cross Turismo before the year crosses over but might just keep it given that market tanked big time.

      @@alanbaxter5897 your analysis omits one important consideration: who is the target customer AND are they looking to buy an EV? A Porsche or Ferrari level Customer who is in the EV market is not looking at a Telsa for EV driving. They are looking at an established manufacture with a track record of manufacturing luxury vehicles. I went with the 2024 i4 M50 without even considering the Model 3 Performance or any other Tesla. And I am happy. If I had the budget, I would've gone for the Taycan 4S (my preferred choice). Keep in mind that this is my first EV ever (and I still own an ICE car). What will likely happen is Tesla's market share will shrink drastically - even while being #1 in market share because, they've had the entire market to themselves for so long. It's inevitable that they will loose market share and that partly explains why they are opening up their charging network pretty much to the entire market (Porsche, BMW, Benz, etc) by next year or 2025 at the latest, as an added revenue stream.
