New Inventory! 1949 1950? Willys Jeep! M38 or CJ3A? Military? I don't know! With Aluminum Hardtop!

I don't know much at all about these old Jeeps, I did a little research on the internet, hopefully I got some of my facts right from what I learned!!! I know there are a lot of Jeep people out there that love these things that will know way more than I do about this thing!!!
From what I could find in my research, I think this was a 1949-53 era Jeep based on a few things I could see comparing it to pictures I found on the internet. This does have some pieces on it that does lead me to believe that this may have been a military M38, but it could also be a CJ3A with some modifications!?!?!?!?
Out of the approx. 2,000 vehicles I currently have in stock in the yard, this is the only early Jeep I have, so my knowledge is limited, but I'm sure some of our Jeep fans can shed a little more light on this one for me!

Not an expert either ... but have a bit of experience with them. Agree with all below, and here are some additional M38 clues: Sealed Box vs. Open C channel frame; fuel fill port protector bar and (unless rotted away or removed) there's pull out filler "funnel" built into the fill neck; sealed windscreen vent; hinged grill; 2nd Battery Box for 24V system; etc. Probably does have misc parts from CJs. I think the M38 had tubular windscreen frame vs. flat bar, but that conflicts with the sealed vent cover. Also ... the hood is interesting ... M38 would have a cutout for a vertical snorkel air intake on the passenger side whereas this hood has large rust spot in that same area; perhaps it was there and patched? Agreed. Definitely an M38...All the military data tags on the dash have been removed...Many military clues on this Jeep, and yes the black-out light below the grill passenger side, other side is a civilian replacement...The rear has a Jerry can holder on each side for military 5 gallon Jerry cans...The clue list goes on for this M38.

I dont know if this info will help anyone but if you have a 1958/59 Rambler and you need new brake shoes and some brake parts, drop in 1959 willys on your search and they just might pop up as they did on my 1959 Rambler super /custom six. I scoured the earth looking for AMC/Rambler shoes.Couldnt fnd em . One day I sat down and read up on Rambler back then. Willys/Rambler/AMC all related and swapped parts in various areas. What a find that was ! Willys brake shoes are mega plentiful on line.

M-38. Jeep salad is common, over the years parts swapped in and out, makes it harder to identify
