Just discussing a spark plug change on my Rubicon yesterday.Guess what ! Open CZcams today, and it’s in my face. The best available guide I’ve ever seen. Thanks Bud 🙏Excellent Video .
Thank you so much for this video! You made it look so simple and especially with one hand lol gave me all the confidence I needed! And I did it in under 2 hrs and I've never even once done any type of mechanical work.
It looks more intimidating than it is, with the help of this video, my wife just changed hers; she loves wrenching on her 2013 unlimited jkur (6" long arm lift on 37's. Just put in new upper plenum gaskets($35) is better than having to take it off again. And those plugs were pretty bad, huge gap, but burning even , her jeep only has 41,000 miles too. No way they would have made it to 100,000 miles. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Your welcome bud im glad this helped out. Wow no way 6" on 37s 😃 must look hecka nice! Dang 41k. Thats a brand new Jeep still. 👍 Thank you for your Support 🙏
Lol thank you, been doing these videos for a while now lol...on my first videos you will always hear me complain about needing a tripod lol...i don't need one anymore lol thank you for your SUPPORT!
Thanks for great video, you made so simple to do and I follow every step in your video and came as needed when I a problem, cylinder 4 coil pack was a problem in removal. Again thanks for the great detail video. JS
Excellent video, great wrenching one handed and keeping in frame with narration - well done. I would just add a couple of minor points. Spark plugs need to be gapped, very, very carefully with iridium, .043. They also should be torqued to 13 inch pounds I believe but double check. I would replace the coil packs if the mileage is high, it costs more, but while you have it apart, easier now. The coil pack boots would also get a little dielectric grease too. The 6 gaskets are made of rubber going to each port, and with the heat they dry and crack. They are also inexpensive and easy to put in. The manifold bolts have a torque spec stamped into it and there is a sequence for tightening. I know these are all small things, but it could save you a hassle in the long run. I also like to use a blow gun and shag any dirt off before I start on disassembly. Good video on the components that need to be removed and you can actually understand what’s going on. Brevity is also a nice thing instead of an hour worth of the entire thing. Good luck to everyone.
Excellent! The first one I see doing the job without complaining about the design lol. Trying to figure out if I can do this job in my wife's 2012 Rubicon 3.6L. I which your shop was her in GA.
George, Thanks for showing what a PAIN this is going to be for me. Seeing you do it will make it a lot simpler for me as well. The only thing I didn't see you use was some Anti-Seize on the replacement plugs, is there a reason to not do this?
@@559powerscape Sure does man. I was only worried that I may have met the old “it’s a Jeep thing” thing where a generic socket wouldn’t fit down there and I’d have to go spend more money on tools hahahahaha!
@@drappennen5704 lol usually, the right tool gets the job done right! But there is times you have to take matters into your own hands....lol and use a hammer or 2 lol
Ouchh that sounds painful. I got my hand stuck in a roll up door. I was doing service on it and it activated pinning my hand. I stopped the door from rolling all the way up lol i couldn't pull my hand out. They had to activate the door and hope it went back down lol it did. I got lucky honestly
How many miles u put so far in your jeep? Any major issues u faced? Im on 125k miles and had to replace the water pump, exhaust phaser, and now probably the oil pump selonoid according to code P06de in my scan tool. Thanks for the infos tho !
Yikes … I got freaking ripped off 😢 2013 Wrangler and they charged me $907 in labor … then $185 for plugs … then $116 for the upper intake gaskets. This was here in Massachusetts
I was enjoying this video JUST fine until you made the Back to the Future reference, thank you very much! At that point, though, I knew I needed to subscribe! No way I can pass on a classy channel such as this! lol
@@559powerscape sounds great! I have 111k on my 2013 JK, and it's just not running real smooth and responsive. On original spark plugs. I'll be doing the job soon.

Lmao my Jeep left me stranded In Walmart I went to start it (ran fine before) and it had a very rough idle and died hooked the scanner up and I got rich fuel code, multiple cylinder misfire code lmao won’t run but just turns over ima be replacing the MAF sensor, Plugs and wires and see what happens from my guess when I was driving the MAF sensor failed and fried some of my plugs or coils lmao

Spark plugs should never be this involved. Thanks for the well-made and informative video! Saved me a lot of time "figuring it out".

You don't need too but doesn't hurt, just showing how to replace the plugs. Thank you for your SUPPORT!
You have to remove the entire intake manifold just to get to the plugs??
yes unfortunately
Great video - and one handed!! How long did this job take you to do?
it takes a few hours i would do it over the weekend to give yourself enough time
Thanks George. Any specific tools required? Is the 5/8 plug socket to remove the plugs just a garden variety one?
Yeah using the spark plug socket makes life easier with and extension and maybe a swivel adapter for some tight areas. Hope this helps!

No issues yet, damn bro im sorry. Every car is different, same models never have any issues some do. Its just the car bro im sorry
142k on mine and I’ve done axle seals twice, 2 calipers, wheel speed sensors twice, front driveshaft, clock spring, 2 Ac actuators and the roof seal.
Would it have been wise to replace coil packs as well? Thanks.
No dont have to, but can if you like
Hey bro how do you tell which cylinder is which, I got a misfire on #5
It's going to be the driver side rear.
ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/jeep-3-7l-firing-order/
What if I never disconnected the battery. Would that affect anything?
It will reset the drive monitors for smog but shouldn't experience any issues. For spark plugs disconnecting the battery isn't necessary

its a big job to be honest. but damn not 1000 dollars worth of work tho...
Im guessing its the same thing for my 2018 jeep right?
As long its the jk model
Remove the engine from the vehicle? The space shuttle seems easier

Yes it had a slight miss fire. Now everything is running 💯
