  • Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!
    Beautiful morning at Giga Texas & busy start to the last week of the 2nd Quarter! Most of the activity is on the south end extension, the east side of the casting machine section of the main factory, the north side of Tesla Road with more electrical conduit trenching underway and the Boring Company Tunneling site, both on the west side of the highway and inside the south main building extension!
    Timestamps:
    Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 3:44
    Drone flight footage & infographics: 4:00 to 32:21
    In the video introduction, I provide some updates and additional information about the Bag House Filtration Plant on the east side of the Casting Machine section of the main factory. This includes information about what a Bag House plant is for and updates on the screw-type piers installed on the north cleared section, making what appears to be two ramps for reworked receiving Doors, and another section of exterior concrete wall panels getting ready for saw cutting. Also, the steel assembly for the Bag House plant itself continues to rise, now nearly 3/4 the height of the main factory!
    On the south end, activity is happening everywhere, from more roof weatherproofing materials, to trenching on the west side near where the Boring Tunnel came in under the perimeter grade beam, and work on the east side with the huge cooling pipes extending from the southeast corner towards the cooling structural platform and plant. I also get great views into the east side of the extension because of excellent early morning sunlight shining directly into the open section of the building.
    The Boring Company is making quick work of disassembling the operations on the west side and preparing for the final concrete entrance and ramp structure. The tunnel thrust ring has now been removed along with the temporary steel ramp for the liner trucks, leaving the face end of the tunnel fully exposed. More of the trailers have been removed and other equipment. Rebar shipments have begun, most likely for the front facing structure.
    Also, over at the triangular lot, on the southwest side, we see crews further disassembling the Prufrock-3 TBM and gantries. This is necessary for shipment back to their Bastrop, Texas main facility as the tunneling operations are now completed (for the time being) at Giga Texas.

    Possibly some equipment to be installed on the pipe run here.
    11:00. Southend, south. Won’t be ramps, excavation is flat. Fire escape passages will extend towards the pond.

      @@memrjohnno That is a good question but not an easy one to answer. First... Though I have some knowledge, I'm not an electrical engineer. But still try to find answers. I've searched Google regarding transmission line capacity and got conflicting results. Had a chat with Google's version of AI, Gemini, and talked to a few people in the comments. There are several factors to consider....
      * How much generating capacity is available?
      * Transmission line capacity?
      * The MVA rating of the transformers in the substation.
      * The capacity of the medium voltage (MV) cables that will be pulled through the new duct-banks and over the rooftop cable trays.
      130 MW? probably can be done. Assuming there is enough capacity remaining on LCRA's 345 kV lines.
      500 MW? From what I've heard so far, LCRA's 345 kV transmission lines may have a capacity of from 400 MW to over 1 GW per circuit, and there are 2 circuits. Though the substation is only connected to one circuit. But here is a problem......
      What is the existing load on those circuits? Sorry that I can't give you a definitive answer.
      Hopefully others who are experts on this stuff can help us out.

    • @acmefixer1
      @acmefixer1 Před 5 dny +2

      Nah. Think about this. There might be ten thousand cans in the scrap bin. But they make millions of cells a week. So the defect rate is way less than one percent. And that's not a problem.

      Re the scrap 4680’s, they are currently trying to ramp up production. by starting to run all of the equipment faster and faster, eventually things break or start to fail. Then they need to determine the failure cause and correct it. Then they try going faster and faster and faster. To me it shows how hard they are trying to lower cell costs. Don’t think it’s a bad sign personally.
