- Welcome to my very first top 5 video! This is a series I have wanted to do for ages, but previous attempts at doing these sorts of videos have kinda flopped. Nonetheless, I've finally done a good one (I think)
The Viacom "V of Doom" logo was Viacom's 2nd logo and used from June 1976 - 1986. Many have dubbed it as one of the scariest logos of all time. In this video, I count down the Top 5 most creepy V of Doom Variants.
Remember - The order of variants in this video has ultimately come down to my opinion - it may not reflect yours! Please refrain from leaving rude comments about the order I have chosen to put these videos in.

the scariest part about #4 to me is the poor vhs condition combined with the film. it’s kinda freaky.

Number four has a kind of found footage horror feel to it. Like you watch it, and your family finds you dead a short time later with the V burned over your heart or inside your eyelids.
Very good list Luke! I think the most creepiest V of Doom logo in my opinion was the Vinegar Syndrome variant of the V of Doom, but seeing that being placed at #3, I'm fine with that.

For me, it's the Rankin Bass logo that gets me. We watch those movies every christmas, and every time, I either run out of the room during the credits or take the remote and go back to the main menu. My family makes fun of me for it, but for some reason it just scares me...
I figure it's rooted in my childhood or something, because other logos, like this one, as well as Screen Gems, don't much bother me. The tune just sticks in my mind and haunts my dreams... I literally had a dream once that it was just playing over and over and over and i couldnt breathe. It's weird and irrational but goddamn is it unsettling lmao
I find the feeling of the past is a particularly strong one, and logos that appear lifeless, corporate and without character appear haunting and scary to us in our childhoods. And as we get older I think those feelings don't really go away despite us realising they aren't as scary as we thought they were as a child. Thanks for sharing :)

I loved that one.. the tune felt comforting and a reminder to work on a chocolate layer cake for my visiting family.. especially that whimsical whistle note. Its just a Merry Xmas message from the company ok????

This logo never bothered me that much when I saw it as a kid, but it seems a wonder it didn’t, as my mother told me I would always cry whenever the Calgon commercials came on when I was a baby. The loud noises apparently bothered me.
I remember the Calgon ads.. they never bothered me.. I was 8 when you were a baby..

Ah good old budget tape transfers, eh? They can't blame poor treatment of the film negatives for this error, as I'd assume by that point in the 80s the programming you watched was provided by videotaped transfers? A little poor on Viacoms behalf to transfer such poor condition negatives
Kind of funny how these for the most part weree damaged from being at the end of most film reels. Mainly from constant rewinding which within time warps the cellophane and rubs unevenly through the pinch rollers, causing the pitch to fluctuate.
I do not remember this but this gives me nightmares because i have seen those videos with the mask coming out
On #5 you said it being faster makes it worse, on #1 you said it being slower makes it worse, which is it???

All versions were downright scary. One thing’s for sure, I wouldn’t want to see any of those late at night before bed.

The one seen on MeTV's current prints of My Three Sons (the season 11 finale). Because CBS Television Distribution cuts in before, the logo begins with a big thump from a drum, which was the end of the M3S theme song. Before the usual jingle comes in.
They should have kept the print as it was instead of fucking plastering CBS TV in the middle.. screw that logo..

Why Called The V Of Doom
TBH this V of Doom logo never scared me and I never even knew there were so many variants. The only one I'm really familiar with is the videotaped variant from the 80s. I vaguely remember seeing that one after the Andy Griffith Show as a kid before I took off for school. Though it did stand out to me, it never once scared me.
Plus, I love how you mentioned vinegar in the no. 3 pick. Might as well be called Vinegar of Doom. LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

❤That's nothing! When I was younger, the Viacom endings reminded me of my late Dad. It sounded rough; I'll give you that. The logo which creeped me out when I was younger was the metallic logo for General Electric on my TV screen. I thought that the metallic G.E. logo was going to beam me into some creepier dimension altogether! I'm over that; now that I'm at a point that the medical technologists summoned by my doctors use G.E. medical equipment to make me feel better....or hypnotized!😵💫

This is one of the main reasons why the videotaped version is superior for me.
Any order is fine.
I loved the V OF DOOM as a kid.. mainly because it reminded me of the LOONEY TUNES "train out of the painted tunnel" gag.. i could not stop laughing when the music came on.. These versions wouldn't scare me.. except for that WARPED AS HELL fanfare one from the ANDY GRIFFITH video.. what the fuck was that????
