The US has been converting coal plants to natural gas plants (The US is the world's largest producer of Natural Gas). Currently the US produces 43% of its electricity from Natural Gas VS 16% by coal. Natural gas is delivered by pipeline vs rail car and leaves no coal ash that requires disposal. Are you advocating staying with less efficient and more expensive coal plants VS more efficient and less expensive natural gas plants? Your arguments seem to be centered on resisting any form of new technology. While I don't think fossil fuels are going the way of the dinosaur any time soon, I would never turn my back on new technology. Look at the rail industry. We went from wood to coal, to diesel engines driving electric generators. Evolution is usually good and drives more industrial production not less. By the way, I was in Europe when they transitioned from Russian petroleum to other sources including the US and it was really a nothing burger.
