  • I finally got the right weather to spray the final clear coat on the second livestock can so this video is the last of the final assembly.
I’m very happy with how it turned out except for an axle hole that I evidently miss drilled. Oh well, easy fix.
Now the negotiations with Mrs Failure for the space it will live begin 😳😂
    Thanks for watching 👍🏼🇺🇸

Will do. This is kind of a winter pastime and as I get busier in the summer it will slow down for several months. I will post them as I do them though.

That turned out great! I like the little details, the mud flaps, taillights, the fabricated rear door and the magnet. The finish is very nice.

      Thank you!
The original doors have a little dimple that is designed to rub for a friction fit. Reproduction doors are $$$. I think the magnets might work better. I see you have a new video I need to watch.
      Thanks for the comment 👍🏼🇺🇸

For sure. I never was a very creative person but I seem to get inspired with these. It takes a tremendous amount of time to do this and it’s how I pass the time in the winter. I don’t get much done in the summer because it’s hot outside and I have to many other things to do.

Ok now I see what you meant by the clear coat comments of the previous post… looks good the way you did it. Now you need to build a set of Wesco hopper doubles to go with your other models in your collection.

Believe me when I say that I’ve spent a significant amount of time thinking about that very thing I just haven’t come up with a solid plan for it yet and I know that it will be a significant amount of work. Now that I’ve stepped up my sheet metal game I may need to rethink it.

It would be quite a bit of work for sure. If you make it like the older model trailers they had angle iron frames and plywood or sheet metal for the box. I don’t know if a person could replicate that using some of the scale building materials that are used in model railroading and just silver solder it together like they do in model railroad construction.
I have serious thoughts of downscaling and getting into 3D printing making models now.
I just picked up a hopper bottom dirt hauler and some kind of crawler minus the blade and tracks last weekend. I’ll probably turn the crawler into a fumigation or furrow out rig as the guy I got it from used to be the setup guy for the local fertilizer dealer.

The truck needs some tall stacks on it.

I’m getting a lot of that and it would look really cool.
However, there are a couple of rules I try to follow with my toys.
First, I try to keep them close to original as much as possible and the truck itself is very original except for the color.
Second, and most importantly, I try to keep them toys as they were originally intended. If I decide to let my grandsons play with them I don’t want them to get broken or the kids to get hurt.
Other than that you are right, they do look better.
      Thanks for watching 👍🏼🇺🇸
